Nothing is as good as a good jdrama, so favorite jdramas are my favorite dramas of all.

I did a Top Jdramas list some time ago, with reasons and vids, but time to update. Why? Well, for one, current dramas number 3-5 weren't even on the list then, because I haven't seen them.

Same rules as earlier apply: it’s all about which are my favorite jdramas? And why? Here is the list of my favorite dozen, with reasons, vids, and pics. Note: no drama that I haven't finished completely is on this list, because who knows how it will turn out. Beautiful Life might end up on the list once I have enough courage to finish it, but am not done yet. Also, I have a 'favorite scene' from each drama, and I described it very briefly, if at all, to make it as unspoilery as possible.

You know how I did a list for my favorite kdramas, here (even if it already has to be revised, seeing that The Legend is my fave kdrama ever, and actually my fave drama, period). Well, this is my Top 10 jdramas list.

Note: no drama that I haven't finished completely is on this list, because who knows how it will turn out. Beautiful Life might end up on the list once I have enough courage to finish it, but am not done yet. Also, I have not yet seen a lot of famous jdramas (Friends, Million Stars, 1 Litre etc), because of a recent kdrama binge, which is about to give way to a jdrama one, so my list might be very different a few months from now ;) Also, I have a 'favorite scene' from each drama, and I described it very briefly, if at all, to make it as unspoilery as possible. Except for the Top 3, the places within Top 10 get reshuffled quite often. A drama I rank number 8 this week might be number four next ;) But the content of Top 10 stays the same.

ETA: Yes, I plan to do the same list for Taiwanese dramas as well. But I need to finish a few twdramas I am currently watching first (Romantic Princess, Corner with Love, My Lucky Star) so as to know whether they should be included.

This morning continues pretty good: the sky is shinily blue, I am wearing my favorite sweater/skirt combo (corded, form-fitting turtleneck of black-gray-pale pink and down to the ground a-line skirt, dark brown with a few thick, roughly patterned black/gray/pale pink stripes). Plus my favorite black boots, and I got complimented on my looks this morning by metro guys :D

I think I am now in that point in my drama cycle, where I madly crave jdrama (just as a few months ago I was in kdrama cycle, and before that twdrama). So a lot of this are rambles about potential candidates.

Anyway. Since this is long, varied, and rather rambly, I am going to cut, to spare the flist.

You know, it's weird, but somehow it's always an almost physical shock, how mesmerizing KimuTaku is. It's just...

I am finishing A Beautiful Life tomorrow. I think I got enough nerve. I think I am going on a jdrama binge actually.

BINGE, I tell you. On short list (other than finishing ABL and Brand and watching AMSFFTS): Karei-Naru Ichizoku, Sapuri, Proposal Daisakusen (yup not done), Love Generation, Orange Days, Yositsune, Strawberry on Shortcake, Long Love Letter.

Have been stuck in airport for forever, but on the plus side, it really put a dent in my drama backlog.

Finished Takki's Romeo and Juliet, very adorable, if not earth-shaking, finished through ep 16 of Lovers (all I had with me) which was awesome (expect long post later) and am now in middle of ep 9 of Brand, which is turning into one of my jdrama loves. Expect long post on it later as well (and I promise to continue uploads shortly) but for now: omg the OTP is the most awesome thing ever. I love them separately and together. And omg omg omg there was a lovemaking scene and I nearly died. And the morning after is the most adorable thing ever. Thoughi got to say even though this has probably the most awesome 'other guy' in jdrama, I really don't care for sneaky, incompetent Yuri, the quasi-other girl.

I am in mid ep 9 and am tempted to stop as it's all happy and adorable but I can tell angst is about to hit.

Anyway, better stop before my fingers fall off as I am typing this on tiny bberry keyboard (ergo my not replying for a couple of days).

Oh, and this weekend I learned to knit and I love it: it's concrete, and relaxing, and occupies my hands. I love!!!

On average, I prefer k and twdramas to jdramas, but nothing is as good as a jdrama when it's ON.

How else do you explain that I am typing this on my tiny bberry keyboard, while sitting at the airport, waiting to board a plane three hours late.(My net access will be a bit spotty this weekend).

But omg. So good, so incredibly good, and intelligent, and romantic and the office is spot on, and the otp just owns me.

Omg yes. He kissed her. After they spent the night working and talking and just giddy from closeness and that exhausted high you get feom lack of sleep.

OMG

We actually went to a kabuki performance last week and it was fascinating. There were two plays, a historical one and a comedy. I preferred the comedy as I don't speak Japanese so the long dialogues in the historical one (about Yoshitsune and Benkei's escape, called 'Subscription List') obviously went over my head. I laughed my head off at the comedy one though, called 'Substitute' about a young lord with an overbearing wife who attempts to sneak off to visit his mistress.

It was very cool, and the Ambassador of Japan was apparently in the audience (since I have no idea what he looks like, I didn't spot him, but that is what they announced. In general, I don't think I have seen as many Japanese people since we returned from Japan!) and at the end the troupe got a standing ovation. The liner notes said the current head of the family/troupe is [balnks on the name, too lazy to look up] XVIII, and that this family has been doing it for 400 years. Whoa.

I have decided Kanzaki is my jdrama boyfriend. He is well-adjusted and a good person, but with sarcasm and inner angst. Plus, he has the most adorable grin ever. Yay. Also, not being a JE boy he: a. weighs more than an undernourished chicken and b. does not look like a girl (I like JE boy dramas, I do, but serously...)

Also, only in jdrama would a tea ceremony be fraught with dramatic angst. Heh.

Can't say I care for Kanzaki's father. And I am sure he is going to hit the roof when he finds out his son has fallen for a woman ten years older than him and one who's only seen a tea ceremony on television before. But then, hey, cranky old guy, look at it this way. He could have gone for a woman like me, who drinks her tea out of a teabag. *Watches the old grinch keel over*

In other news, hit the bookstores yesterday and bought two new (to me) mangas: Juvenile Orion which looked fun and had really cool art and is only 5 volumes and Backstage prince, which is cute but I mainly bought because it's a manga about kabuki (!!!)

Oh, and I am also reading the next Thursday Next novel. And finishing up Otogi Zoshi anime. I sort of lost interest in the latter, but Mr. Mousie likes it, and once we are done, it's on to finishing Blood +, which is a lot more my thing.
