OMFG, you guys! He's homeless and broke and literally only owns the clothes in his suitcase and his watch. And he sold them to buy her a birthday present.

Impractical but so sweet I just might die.

Of course, she makes him return it. I love Miss Practical to bits.

Caps of scene in question )

Also, Rainie and Wu Zun are so cute together, I swear puppies and rainbows are spontaneously created. OTOH, when they angst, IT SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED.

Other caps of my OTP )

And as a final note, what kind of a girl decides that if a guy didn't want to marry you, you'll wreck his whole life? WTF, crazy secondary girl! (Not as crazy as secondary guy who should be devoured by fire ants, though).

I mean, ep 11 gives us baths of angst, starring Wu Zun and his marvelous arms:

Argh, evil cousin of Wu Zun's character, I hope you die in a fire. Seriously, wtf, psycho! Dude just manipulated the situation to take away not only the company but even the house and is now gloating in WZ's face for being too trusting - i.e. not thinking his family is a pack of two-faced hyenas. DIE! I mean, the rationale isn't that WZ ran the company badly or treated people awfully - nah, it's just that he trusted his family. WTF.

He was about to propose to Rainie, too, and you ruined it! On plus side, it did result in the above-mentioned bath, so it's not all bad.

In case you need more convincing, two shippy scenes from ep 11 - one funny and one touching )

My current/asap twdrama roster is this, Love Keeps Going, Material Queen, Calling for Love, I Do, KO 3an Guo, The X-Family, That Love Comes, Marry Me, Because of You, Bump Off Lover, Roseate Love, In Time With You, Ring Ring Bell, and Material People (though I suppose the latter is a cdrama). Plus a few others. And I feel like rewatching Wish to See You Again. Good Lord.

I believe I may be the only person on my friendlist who has watched Sunshine Angel, the currently-airing twdrama with Wu Zun and Rainie Yang.

YOU GUYS MUST REMEDY IT ASAP!

I have only started it today - but I have watched 9 episodes in one day (!!!!). It takes a few episodes to get going but at some point by ep 4, I realized I was madly in love with this romantic, warm, sweet drama.

The story of a plucky cheerful maid (Rainie) and a reserved, perfectionist CEO with issues (Wu Zun) is nothing that hasn't been done before - in fact, this seems to be a remake of the Successful Story of a Bright Girl kdrama (or so I've been told, haven't seen the kdrama in question myself). But what makes this story a delight are the sharp colors, the fast pace and the out-of-this-world chemistry between Rainie and Wu Zun. It also helps that both have an immensely likeable on-screen vibe and play likeable characters. And, as is de rigeur in twdramas, there are some swoonily romantic moments. The one in the cap above is one of them. My favorite scene so far though is the one where he tells her about his parents dying rescuing him and how he doesn't believe in permanence any more (and OMG, I realize that he went into the water to rescue her despite this triggering his biggest issues).

Btw, she is only a maid for the first half of the drama, if that is an issue...

Will this drama change your life? Likely not. But it's a lovely story about lovely people, and a perfect way to while away a rainy afternoon.

KizunaFS has picked it up. However, I don't believe they released any subs as of yet so the best way to watch it is on youtube, where an awesome user has subbed the first 12 eps so far. Trust me, it's worth it!

Have a MV:

I defy you not to give this wonderfulness a chance after this MV.

1. I am glad to note that after Jandi cruelly dumped him, Ji Hoo went on to a big and happy career as an Asian Pimp Daddy:

Ahahahahaaa.

Haaa.

2. In other news, ep 22 of Black and White was amazing. (1) MuSha scene (2) Zai Tian and Chen Lin rescuing Ying Xiong scene (CPR!!!!!!!!!) and (3) I can see why the Bad Guy (trying to be non-spoilery here) handcuffed Zai Tian - you and me too baby, me too!

And the above scene? Made my heart go pitter-patter. Chen Lin always knows just what to say :)

Larger version with more )

3. Lastly. They are remaking Full House, the famous kdrama, as a twdrama, starring Wu Chun. Mmmmm. MMMM.

[livejournal.com profile] aliaspiral's awesome post (note: detailed spoilers for entire plot) made me realize that much anticipated (by me) Chinese movie Butterfly Lovers, starring the impossibly gorgeous Wu Zun and Charlene Choi, as the titular lovers, is out and out with subs (you can find it both on jdramas and youtube).

I am watching it and it's such love. It's as if it has been written especially to cater to me. The story? Think Romeo & Juliet set in Medieval China with swords and cross-dressing, or maybe Hana Kimi if it was a tragedy. MMMM.

Our heroine (Charlene Choi, looking adorably feminine even cross-dressing) dresses as a boy in order to train with a particular martial arts sect which does not accept women. The senior student at the school (played by Wu Zun. Oh God, he is scarily gorgeous) takes her under his wing and they become friends. And then fall in love. Oh, and he discovers she is a woman. Lovely, right? Well, seeing that it's a Chinese take on Romeo & Juliet, I think you can figure out what kind of an ending this will have. All sorts of deliciously shippy and amazingly angsty things happen that make me love it.

I was going to cap the movie (it's very gorgeous) but for some reason GOM refused to cap by 1+GB version. Such is my dedication to sharing the pretty and the angst that I dled from youtube and capped parts.

Caps of gorgeousness. Nonspoilery )

Oh, and here are caps from my favorite scene where the OTP channels Romeo & Juliet.

Aaaangst, spoilery angst here )

Here is a spoilery but an awesome MV (seriously, how spoilery can it be? It's a Chinese version of R&J - really does anyone not know how this is bound to end?)

There are few ways to cope with jetlag better than spending 5am in a bathtub, watching Romantic Princess, the delicious Taiwanese drama tale of a modern-day Cinderella, Xiao Mai (Angela Zheng) who turns out to be a long-lost grand-daughter of a gazillionaire who wants her to marry his chosen successor, the icily displeased Jin (Wu Chun).

I wanted something incredibly fluffy and only with a smidgeon of angst, and so I remembered I started this and loved it. See post here with summary and pics.

Angela Zheng is pretty, Wu Chun is gorgeous (and now I crack up every time I see him, because I remember total Wu Chun mania in Thailand, including a giant painted portrait of him up for sale on the streets, next to paintings of towers and holy monks). The production values are cool, the story funny, and the relationship between Angela and Wu Chun bristles with snappiness and chemistry. It's like the perfect shoujo manga adaptation :P

Also, the OTP reminds me, a very little, of what would happen if Rui and Makino hooked up. My favorite was Angela's thought that 'Barring his rotten character, [Wu Chun's character's name] is a perfect man. Good-looking, rich, and capable.' LOL, girl, you are ready to move to Thailand.

Here is the the perfect MV for this:

I love the intercutting, the song, the filters, everything.

ETA: Ep 3's adorable fluffiness makes bunnies look brutally uncute by comparison. I nearly died LOLing when Angela invites Wu Chun for dinner with her crazy hilarious adoptive family and there is a chopstick fight. LOL. And heeee, he totally is beginning to like her. I know the whole 'rich boy comes up for dinner to poor girl's family and is all envious of family warmth and cookiness' is such a cliche, but it's a cliche for a reason :P

Last evening, in the last act of insanity before leaving Chiang Mai, we signed up for an hour-long traditional Thai massage in a little place off one of the larger streets. So for an hour, Spouse and I lay next to each other on the mats, as two ladies performed what normally would be considered assault and battery and thus actionable, but since the sign outside said 'massage' instead we paid them for the privilege.

It did feel great afterwards though, even if by this morning I was definitely back to my usual kinked-up back.

Now we are back in Bangkok, and the day seems to be dedicated to commerce. First we went to a weekend market, the largest market in town, where there was everything on sale that you possibly can imagine and a few things you can't. (There was a section of vendors selling nothing but fake flowers). I bought a skirt but Lord and Master got lucky: if it wasn't for the fact that it's easier to import a nuke, we would have ended up with one of the many adorable puppies for sale.

Next: where the swanky and the teenage shop, a.k.a. the mall. Namely, MBK, one of the nicest malls in town. Same stuff for sale, frankly, only pricier and with air-conditioning. And with myriads of cell-phone cellers and available cell-phone numbers for sale. The food court was YUM though. Oh, and we stopped by a Thai bookstore where looking at the magazine racks confirmed what I knew already: the denizens of Thailand like Japanese, Korean (I discovered a FOURTH Korean entertainment mag, named simply 'Seoul), and Taiwanese dramas almost as much as I do. I bought a few entertainment mags out of curiousity and greed (one with most of Yamapi's AnAn shoot, one all about Farenheit, one awith ISWAK, and one Thai entertainment one), and the saleslady actually dragged over another saleslady just to gawk at the weirdo farang who clearly knew no word of Thai but bought Thai-language magazine with Chinese people on the cover.

Btw, people here seem to love Hanadan, if the amount of mags on it is any indication but their true passion seems to be Farenheit. There are mags on it and articles on it everywhere, and I have seen posters of Wu Chun for sale numerous NUMEROUS times. Oh, and Hana Kimi and Farenheit concerts played on screens at the most random places. :)

Next, we went to the National Museum, a rambling place crammed with artifacts but with an air of cheerful neglect and no security or proper storage to speak of.

And from then on, through another giant market selling everything from amulets, to pictures of the Royal Family, to books whose covers indicated they were of a less solemn nature and might contain what in older days would be termed 'marital aid=themed stories.'

Then, we suffered a brief relapse in spirituality and visited Wat Arun, an incredible temple where I took way too many pictures.

But I am afraid we are about to fall from grace once again. Plans for this evening include attempting to get tickets to a Muay Thai match. I'll see if I spot the undercover Lee Jun Ki :)
