I am feeling better, thanks everybody.

I finally caved and got Little Fairy which is a wuxia/fantasy/fairy-tale Chinese drama about a mortal man falling in love with a goddess who is temporarily banished from heaven. I was dubious as to whether to get it, despite finding Ariel Lin adorable as a button and having nothing against Hu Ge (the male lead, I had no opinion on him as I've never seen him in anything). I am not big on fantasy in dramas, incredible wuxia jumps being about the most I can usually tolerate. However, tricksy calixa lured me in by promising manpain. Lots of manpain, and torture/slavery/attempted suicide/screams of despair (I take it her family isn't keen on him).

Yay. Let's see how it goes.

Here are one of my favorite secondary OTPs of Fruits Basket, the hyper-dramatic, crazily oblivious Ayame (think a grown up Tamaki) and Mine, his shop assistant. They run an 'exotic clothes' stoer together. If they have any kids, I bet they will rebel by being stodgy accountants:

OK, finally managed to remember the name of the 'other guy' in Something Happened in Bali. In-Wook. I really don't like him. Don't care for sneaky, underhanded, scheming people.

Jae-Min might not be Prince Charming but he doesn't dissemble at all. And OMG, the scene at the restaurant when he took Soo-Jung too and it was bloody expensive and he let her believe it was her treat and then when he saw how she only ordered soup was all 'I was going to treat you since it's your first day at work...' and before he had time to finish she was all 'can I see the menu again?' Heeee. And then he got all pissed and jealous at the sweet way she was talking about In-Wook and just left (after paying). LOL. Dude, you should recognize what you feel, sweep her off her feet etc etc. Otherwise you'll get what happens at the end of this drama.

And then we get to ep 7 and I was squealing at the screen like a little piggy. Seriously. Best scene ever. I love love LOVE it when drama!men lose their cool.

OIn other news, of all the mangas I am currently reading, Vampire Knight is my favorite. (If it keeps on going the way it has, it will be second favorite, period, behind only Ayashi No Ceres).

I've described it elsewhere but think of a manga take on Buffy, a little. The artwork is gorgeous, the story complicated (for synopsis click on the linked post), the heroine is awesome, and I am madly crushing on Zero who is sort of a mix of Angel, Spike and Awesome.

I found a Zero/Yuki vid on youtube that is spoilery through first five volumes and is a good example of the artwork.

I have been reading Fruits Basket scanlations again, as my desperation eagerness to find out what happenes overcame my instinctive dislike for scanlations (reading manga on line gives me headaches literally).

And I was enjoying it a lot. And then we came to chapters 105-106 and I died and went to shipper fangirl heaven. My thoughts processes could be summed up as something like OMGHARURINOMGOMGOMG. With a healthy doze of 'stab Akito in the face, someone.'



Fruits Basket has a lot of storylines, some of which I love, some of which I am blah about (Yuki and the student counsel never really grabs me. I like Yuki. I like student counsel guys, but I find myself skimming those pages to get to the next Kyo or Hatori or what not bit). But the one story that gives me palpitations and makes me make weird noises at my book (or computer as the case may be) is that of Haru and Rin. The only one that has a chance to knock the hyperventilation to even a higher notch is any time the mangaka gets into Kyo issues. Because Kyo >>>>> everything. Ahem.

For the two of you who are actually reading this post though you've never seen/read any Fruits Basket, Haru and Rin are one of major FB otps. ( Haru and Rin in two minutes summary )

Here are the scans from chapters 105 and 106 and 107 (volume 18) which made me die. Haru finds out the truth and confronts Akito (and Akito almost dies, YES). And Haru and Rin. *swoon*

Reading scanlations is the work of the devil. Or something. Reading about 5 chapters gave me a huge headache. Which led to very little of Tree of Heaven but the ten or so minutes I saw of ep 2 were WONDERFUL. Because this drama is only 10 eps, it moooooves. Also, a bit bizarrely, aliterati, the female lead in this looks a bit like a Korean version of you. Which is slightly surreal.

Oh, and I am on volume 4 of Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden and things finally started really cookin’! We get holding (Takiko has her hands stuck in a rock, long story, and Rimudo comes up from behind and just holds her up, so her hands would be on a level and more comfy) and we get KISSING! In the middle of a fight, when he is yelling at her to go back to her world and she is yelling at him she hates him. EEEE! And then he just grabs her and kisses her, while her eyes are still open, full of angry tears. And then he tells her he doesn’t like to see her in pain. And stalks off. MMMMM.

So, I finished chapter 98 of Fruits Basket (it's in vol 17).

And now I know Akito's big secret. And Kureno's.

And guess what? My Akito hatred is stronger than ever. It only made me loathe Akito more.
