I really cannot wait!

Go get him, girl!!!!!

Sadly, I doubt the Korean version will have what Taiwanese one did:

I'd pay $100 gladly if it did have it, though. Alas...seeing how they insisted BOF only had only close-mouth kisses, chances for that are slim. Get with the program, Korea!

I am quite glad Kim Hyun Joong got cast in Mischievous Kiss because that means all his rabid fangirl hordes are out there digging for info and filming stuff.

Here is a clip of him filming courtesy of friendly stalkers fans:

All I have to say about this is thank God about the hair - the haircut/color actually looks really nice, no comparison to the monstrocity they gave him in BOF.

1. I have not been following any airing kdramas this summer but that is not because there is nothing that grabbed my attention. I plan to marathon Bad Guy, Comrades, and Coffee House when they are done. Especially Bad Guy. Speaking of which, have this bit of adorableness.

2. Speaking of upcoming summer kdramas - the more I see of Girlfriend Gumiho, the less interested I am. However, I am getting quite excited about Mischievous Kiss (Kim Hyun Joong is manga-pretty and Jung So Min can actually act. Plus, the production team is really good and horrific scriptwriter of BOF is nowhere in sight :P) and Sungkyunkwan Scandal - I adored the concept of Scandal from the start and my big worry, Yoochun's ability to be a convincing lead, has been dispelled after watching Beautiful Love. I am sure he will do just fine. (His looks don't make my heart flutter but at least I don't get "eeeek, ugly!" reaction I am getting from Lee Seung Gi's stills in Gumiho).

3. Last but not least. HA JI WON HAS BEEN CAST AS FEMALE LEAD OPPOSITE JANG HYUK IN SECRET GARDEN OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG. Not only that, but Philip Lee (that's Chuhro the Sexy Warlord from Legend) has been cast as well. With an awesome scriptwriter and the cast to die for this is quickly becoming an ultimate must-see.

4. ETA: Also, apparently, Cha In Pyo has been cast as secondary guy in Daemul. SQUEE, I adore him! (He was the secondary guy in my favorite Cinderella story, Star in My Heart, and recently was in fun period drama The Reputable Family).

Hallo there, Naoki!

According to allkpop (where I lifted this deeply intellectual picture from, as well), Kim Hyun Joong has been signed on to play the male lead in the Korean remake of It Started with a Kiss.

I am sure most of my flist is now groaning in horror. I bet as soon as this news will get posted on dramabeans, the thread will turn into a bashfest extreme.

But I don't care because my big reaction is YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! Ji Hoo sunbae finally gets the girl!

I think KHJ is gorgeous and despite widespread complaints about his acting in Boys Over Flowers, I thought he did just fine. By the end of that drama trainwreck, his was the only character (other then the secondary OTP) I did not want to murder - I certainly ended up loathing the leads.

So, mock me! I don't care for I am ecstatic!

This is about the only way they could have gotten me to watch that, knowing how much I love the tw-version, unless they signed up Kim Bum or Jung Il Woo (both of whom are, let's face it, too good for a fluffy romcom as done by incompetent Group 8).

ETA: Dramabeans has just posted the news and the lamentations have began. LOLOLOLOL. Seriously people, why would you want Lee Min Ho or Im Ju Hwan in this? Why? This drama will likely be silly fluffy crack at best, and I think either LMH or IJH should do something genuinely good. Especially LMH who, after BOF and PT, both horrible, is skating on some thin ice with me - it's getting to the point that even though I think he's very good, I am wary of anything he is in because I know it will be a disaster.

Apparently the long-rumored Korean adaptation of It Started with a Kiss is going to proceed after all.

Hmmm. Very mixed feelings on that one. The iconic twdrama version was not only one of my all-time favorite dramas, it was one of my earliest ones. Even now, when I need cheering up, I fish it out and watch some bits of it.

It's a polarizing story (my flist is equally divided between intelligent, eloquent women who adore it and intelligent, eloquent women who can't stand it) and it really stands or falls not even as much on the script as it does on the cast. Twdrama version lucked out by casting Ariel Lin and Joe Cheng as the silly, cheerful girl and the icy brainy robot-type boy she is obsessed with. The two went on to not just fame but becoming one of the most beloved on-screen twdrama pairings ever. Ariel Lin was silly without being irritating, obsessed without being pathetic, and Joe Cheng's iciness was always moderated by the barely held in check amusement and a genuine puzzled lack of understanding of human feeling. Not to mention their chemistry burned.

So yes, the casting is crucial. Dramabeans barely posted the news a couple of hours ago and the thread is already full of people's suggestions, some of which make me cringe - Won Bin and Song Hye Kyo? They are at least 10 years too old - the leads in question are highschoolers - the whole story is about growing up and discovering what you want. Or Jang Geun Seok and Park Shin Hye - the day JGS does a convincing icy reserve on my screen would be something, Park Shin Hye's attempts at dim in YAB annoyed the heck out of me, plus JGS's insane fangirls traumatized me for life. Some I could see (Im Ju Hwan and Seo Woo) except for the fact that it would be a bit of Tamra rehash (kdramas aren't keen on reusing pairings) and also conflict with IJH's What's Up drama.

I honestly have no idea who they could cast. Maybe Jung Il Woo - he is gorgeous and can do icy, and Return of Iljimae proved he is a heck of an actor so he can pull off any role whatsoever. As for the female lead - no idea. Maybe Go Ara? If only Yoon Eun Hye was 5 years younger - she is the one Korean actress who most reminds me of Ariel Lin.

In conclusion, have this adorable ISWAK mv:

I really feel like rewatching both ISWAK and its sequel now.

Ep 6 of Next Stop Happiness is out. I cannot wait to watch it - it's like those guilty pleasure romances I used to read when younger :)

Also, apparently subs are out for eps 5-7 of IRIS. Oh. My. GOD. Not to mention I need to watch more JIN.

Are there other twdramas or jdramas I should be watching? (My kdrama slate is full). I sm tempted by Momo Love (because I adore Jiro and Cindy) and Hi Sweetheart sounds cute, and has Rainie and Show Luo but Show's horrifying terrifying wig/haircut is enough to scare me blind:

I've also been watching They Kiss Again - the thing is I ff through parts of it (some parts I adore some parts bore me) but the dvd player I was using doesn't allow the subs to be shown on fastforward so I will try it on a different one. It's my 'happy place' drama.

1. I have tried The King and I and quickly gave it up. Not only does it have a mind-numbing number of characters I cannot tell apart from each other or puzzle their relationships to each other, but within the first five minutes, someone is dug into the ground up to his neck, smeared with honey, and covered in bees. Thank you, very much for those nightmares, drama. All that, and a story about a eunuch starring an actress I dislike and an actor I find unappealing to say the least. In 60 episodes. PASS.

2. Episode 2 of Otomen is sheer adorableness (how does it get more adorable, how?) It's a rare jdrama adaptation of a shoujo manga I like. I am still behind on Orthros No Inu and Buzzer Beat and must catch up, though.

3. Out of curiousity, I checked out some of Tamra the Island ep 14 just to see if my opinion of that drama as the worst thing it has ever been my misfortune to see come out of Korea was justified. I was delighted to discover a tongue-in-cheek deliberately anachronistic take on period drama with some weighty issues thrown in. Unfortunately, said drama was Hong Gil Dong. Tamra, alas, remains a silly piece of fluff. LOL. It looks sort of improved - no potty humor and Im Joo Hwan and the lead girl whose name escapes me, aren't too bad at their jobs (girl has rather ceased channeling Jandi's crazed overacting). William is as wooden and hideously albino as ever, but we can't have everything. I have no motivation to watch more but am at least pleased to declare it not a total loss. And I think IJH and Lead Girl could star in Group 8's planned It Started with a Kiss remake - they physically look the part, have good chemistry, and not actors who I adore so I'd feel upset they are stuck in that mess. If surprisingly the drama turns out well, good for them, and if not, no loss to me :)

4. In good news for moi, Han Ji Min dropped out of Lee Jun Ki's Strange Heroes. Now, I adore HJM but the reason I am happy is her replacement. It's Kim Min Jung - I adored her to bits in Fashion 70s and she is in not nearly enough things. OMG YES.

5. A bunch of images from You're Beautiful are out, and also the images from a mini-concert they did. Oh YES. They did a promo mini-concert, LOL.
