1. I have not been following any airing kdramas this summer but that is not because there is nothing that grabbed my attention. I plan to marathon Bad Guy, Comrades, and Coffee House when they are done. Especially Bad Guy. Speaking of which, have this bit of adorableness.

2. Speaking of upcoming summer kdramas - the more I see of Girlfriend Gumiho, the less interested I am. However, I am getting quite excited about Mischievous Kiss (Kim Hyun Joong is manga-pretty and Jung So Min can actually act. Plus, the production team is really good and horrific scriptwriter of BOF is nowhere in sight :P) and Sungkyunkwan Scandal - I adored the concept of Scandal from the start and my big worry, Yoochun's ability to be a convincing lead, has been dispelled after watching Beautiful Love. I am sure he will do just fine. (His looks don't make my heart flutter but at least I don't get "eeeek, ugly!" reaction I am getting from Lee Seung Gi's stills in Gumiho).

3. Last but not least. HA JI WON HAS BEEN CAST AS FEMALE LEAD OPPOSITE JANG HYUK IN SECRET GARDEN OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG. Not only that, but Philip Lee (that's Chuhro the Sexy Warlord from Legend) has been cast as well. With an awesome scriptwriter and the cast to die for this is quickly becoming an ultimate must-see.

4. ETA: Also, apparently, Cha In Pyo has been cast as secondary guy in Daemul. SQUEE, I adore him! (He was the secondary guy in my favorite Cinderella story, Star in My Heart, and recently was in fun period drama The Reputable Family).

Hunh. Secret Garden as described at d-wiki doesn't sound interesting yet, but I do like the leads. I think this will be Ha Ji Won's first drama since Hwang Jin Yi.

The guy in Girlfriend Gumiho looks more startled and dorky with exagerated expressions than scared to me, but the dorama as a whole looks kind of dull to me. The currently airing Gumiho drama looks like it could be fun, though, if in a melodramatic and cessy way.

In SG they are supposed to swap bodies which can either be a trainwreck or brilliant.

Yes, I want to check out the other Gumiho drama - it makes me think of Hometown of Legends and other fantasy-horror dramas.

Ah. The bodyswap does make it sound more entertaining.

I need to watch Hometown of Legends. They sound like Korean versions of the Liao Zhai series, but shorter. I have the 2008 series DLed, but haven't found the 2009 series yet.

I know 2009 hasn't been entirely subbed yet :(

Kinnosuke has been casted in Mischievous Kiss. The actor is 25 year-old Lee Tae Sung. I've seen him in a couple of things and he was alright. The only thing - if they are starting it in high school, he looks a bit old to be a teenager. It might just be me, though.

Neat :) I don't mind if they move it up to college, btw.

I know they aren't in high school for that long in the manga, but I do hope they are in high school for a little bit in the drama. Just because it makes more sense to me; if a college student loses her house in a bizarre earth quack, it just seems like she could get an apartment easier. I don't know.

Side note: I'm looking forward to more casting news.

Finally! A drama with Lee Philip in it! Oh and JSM opposite KHJ is a pretty good choice. :D

If Bad Guy were an actual revenge thriller I would be all over that, but I've been following DB recaps and it REALLY doesn't sound like it. From what I can tell it's essentially a traditional romance/melodrama, only with no particularly likable characters. not my cup of tea.

Also I finally clicked as to the reason for my complete indifference toward Coffee House(I made it through a good 4 eps or so before giving in) - it's that I a)don't like Kang JI Hwan's character - he's selfish and immature and not in a way that is interesting to me(mainly because of no major angst/no excuse for it - I mean even Hwan of BL had tragically lost his father and was spoiled by his family). KJH here is a thoroughly grown up, 30-something man with an excellent career and plenty of money and was I presume not raised by aliens, and yet he's this immature. And I don't buy his flaws under the "writer" banner either - Zaizai in WTSYA was a writer but even his communication problems and eccentricities were presented much more convincgly as the product of a solitary, orphaned childhood, and not as a result of the quirky genius of being a writer(I"m a writer myself so this is particularly irritating to me). Whoops, this comment got out of hand.

anyway, b)I don't like the actress playing best friend/publisher girl. On paper, I like, even love, her character. In actuality? She does nothing for me whatsoever.

But the trajectory of your Gumiho/Mischievous KIss emotions are teh same as mine - everything released for the latter just makes me more excited:)

See, Bad Guy is pinging the same kinks Que Sera Sera and Bali did for me - deep angst with screw-ups. I love that.

well, let me know if there IS deep angst, because while I rarely watch thrillers/revenge flicks, when I am in the mood, I want them to be full out, and Bad Guy got me with its delicious trailer. But at least int he first half of the drama there wasn't much angst/thriller stuff at all based on recaps (beyond the first 2 eps anyway) and so I lost interest. Perhaps the 2nd half w/that scene that you posted is different, in which case I'd be much more inclined to watch.

By now it's all angst-to-the-wall but I honestly have no idea if this drama is your thing.

I'm actually looking forward the most to the upcoming music-related dramas, What's up and The Musical. If done good they can be really entertaining. I love love love musicals so I'm hoping for the best :D
I'm also going to check out Sungkyunkwan Scandal and (sorry) My Girlfriend is a Gumiho. I still like the storyline and I'm curious how they are going to deliver it. You never know, maybe it's brilliant, and maybe it's a disaster.
I can't decide whether I want to watch Bad Guy, or not. Same for Mischievous Kiss. Maybe I should check out their first episodes. And I'm planning to marathon Coffee House as well because somehow I prefer watching dramas that way. Where I can decide when to stop and not the tv schedule ^^

I find first eps really are a good way to decide - sometimes drama gets good after a horrific first ep but usually not

Last but not least. HA JI WON HAS BEEN CAST AS FEMALE LEAD OPPOSITE JANG HYUK IN SECRET GARDEN OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG.

I just saw that too! HJW and JH! That's some great casting for us. I adore both of them.

The switching body thing does kind of put me off but there's a chance it could be great. I don't see HJW and JY getting involved in something that has a high potential of being crappy. Especially HJW who's really famous now and doesn't need to take whatever she can get.

I absolutely loathed the storyline of Michievious Kiss when I tried to read the manga but I think it has potential as a K-Drama (haven't seen the Tw-version but might be interested in it while waiting for its Korean counterpart. Don't want to see the old J-version). I'm one of the few who didn't see any glaring problems with Kim Hyun Joong's acting in BOF so I'm quite excited to see him in that role. The bizare orangy-hair of BOF will be gone too so that I'll be able to admire his prettiness with no reserve.

I'm really looking forward to Scandal too. Crossdressing was never my favorite trope in dramas but You're beautiful cured me of my aversion (yes, I shamelessly admit I'm one of those who adored this drama. And I'm currently rewatching the D-Cut).

What about What's Up? IJW's upcomming drama?

What's Up sounds pretty fun but I haven't seen any news about it for a while :(

ISWAK twdrama is one of my loves. Psssst, don't tell anyone but I also thought KHJ did a decent job in BOF.

Personaly, I like Coffee House a lot. There is enough angst that cause problems but not enough it's inbelievable (I mean most of us have "problems" and it doesn't mean we are unable to function normally in society or that we get hysterical every five minutes...)
After that I wish to watch "Gumiho's Revenge" if I can find it subbed. It sounds interesting for me as I never watched a gumiho story.
I'm going to check Sungkyunkwan Scandal, too. Sounds fun and I like the "fake-sageuk-type-dramas".... Just for the costums, I confess.... :-)

Yes, what's up with What's Up? (sorry...) No news at all.... did they all disappeared in the 25th dimension, or what?

Secret Garden: I am not sure what to think of the premise. Could be just another highly-awaited drama with great leads that might not fly. But we will see. I am sure to check this one up.

"Playful kiss " sounds rather good now that Jung So Min is in it, could be something to watch with my daughter, she liked Kim Hyun Joong in BOF.

Yes. I hope PK will be some frothy fun.

Secret Garden - yes, I don't know how it will go. But I am checking out at least the first few eps.
