Musings of the Obsessive Kind

After finding that watching Full House in too large a swathe was inducing fits of freaking out at the TV (OMG! I am going to hyperventilate with that show), I went to B&N to hang out.

Specifically, I went to check out Basara manga. The store didn't have it (I am going to go to a better stocked one later in the week), but I did end up reading Hana Kimi Vol 2 and E.S., Furumi Soryo's (of the Mars fame) new manga.

E.S. has the most amazing artwork. Almost no dialogue because it doesn't need it. And such different story from Mars. I am only done with the first issue of the first volume but can't wait to read more.

And Hana Kimi? So much love. crumpeteer asked me who I thought was the hottest anime character, and I decided between Aoshi and Tamahome, but if I was asked about who is the hottest manga character, I'd say Sano, hands down! OMG. Sano IS love. And Sano/Mizuki are a HUGE OTP. And there was kissing. And the whole, he is in love with her but he can't let her know he knows she is a girl, and she is in love with him but she thinks he thinks she is a guy and she can't let him know she is a girl. I was cracking up at a completely hot gratuitous shot of Sano in the shower.

I also bought the first volume of Ayashi No Ceres. I've loved the anime and the manga has gorgeous art-work and the story has been compressed in the anime, so I really wanted to get Ceres. Also, Toya is wicked HOT. And yes, the artwork is gorgeous and everything is beautiful, but I'd forgotten how depressing it was. I am in the very beginning and I see Aya and Aki normal and I hurt for them. I don't think I could read it actually, I realized. AnC is the anime that maxed out my angst capacity after all. (Trigun made me devastated near the end and Fushigi Yuugi made me bawl in the second half, but nothing has hit the angst thing as much as AnC).

I don't know who the writers are, but I have never seen a show so amazing at picking every shippy, angsty, funny kink I have and hitting it dead on.

The recent proliferation of ads for pomegranate drinks irrationally annoys me. I loved pomegranates ever since I was a little kid, when they weren't cool. Nobody ate them until someone slapped an 'antioxidant' label on them and all of a sudden they are in fashion. I guess I am proprietary about my fruit.

In other off-kilter news, I am still obsessed with Full House. The actress that plays the female lead is so pretty and loveable and adorable, she almost makes me want to switch sexual orientation. In fact, I am rather obsessed with the show, and considering it's in the running against Mars as a favorite dorama, it's ironic that after watching the first ep I was all 'Why is there all this fuss about it? It's not bad but nothing great.' Famous last words.

But yes, Full House is a dorama that keeps on giving. Me heart-attacks, that is.

Btw, all those on my flist who are wondering if I'd abandoned my tried-and-true fandoms of Veronica Mars, Battlestar Galactica and Supernatural. Nope. But this being summer and they being on hiatus, there isn't much to discuss. I promise the craziness will start again in the fall.

Oh, Full House. You draw me in with the funny and then you sock the unsuspecting me with the angst. Not that the angst is extreme or anything, but I get to really love the characters so when they get sad I feel awful.
