1. Have some angsty Playboy from Four Women Conflict.

Caps, pretty caps )

2. [livejournal.com profile] ockoala just informed me that FSF and Yang Mi are going to play the OTP of contemporary cdrama Destiny's Concerto. Normally, modern-day cdramas are rarely my thing but I am going to give it a try just for them. Together with JPLH, its movie sequel and Legend of Tiger Amulet, that's four times they have been paired in one year (!!!!). I've seen some griping on spcnet about it (why?) but I am doing an ecstatic jig because they sort of my became my favorite drama pairing and I am so very happy to see them together again.

3. I wasn't particularly interested in Schemes of Beauty before but it's made by the same guy who made FWC and JPLH, it has FSF and Yang Mi (not as an OTP, but that is even more fun. Yang Mi's OTP in this is Four, a.k.a. Mikey He, and FSF's otp is Myolie Wu). Must check this out now - I believe viki has it. Have these two MVs for the two OTPs Behind cut )

4. And speaking of Yang Mi/Mikey He - I am on ep 16 of JPLH and I do believe Four might be developing feelings for our intrepid heroine. How do I know? Well, he hesitates to slit her throat while she's lying there unconscious after having taken a sword stab to save his life. He decides not to kill her (on the off chance she's somehow implicated in something against him - hello, paranoia!) despite being really tempted.

Now we know that with Four this is as good as shouting from the rooftops that it's LOVE!

5. Thanks for the heads-up, [livejournal.com profile] hanjae. Trailer for FSF/Yang Mi Warring States awesomesauce collab Legend of Tiger Amulet is out:

As you can tell my this LJ becoming cdrama-central lately, I am in a major kdrama slump.

No kdrama seems to keep my attention since the beginning of Dream High (and the last kdrama I loved from beginning to end was Secret Garden). Even dramas I can tell are good (Royal Family) don't seem to grab me. I don't even seem motivated to check out 49 Days or Crime Squad, which normally sound 100% my thing.

I am going to try both tomorrow anyway, in hopes of being free from the slump. We'll see.

The thing is, I am in the mood for (a) period drama (b) romcom (I know, shocking!).

If a drama combined both, like JPLH, it would be ideal, but either one is fine.

I don't think there is a single romcom on in kdrama-land right now. Zero! Everything that's airing is melo, melo, and more melo. I am waiting for Festival like a parched person in the desert.

As to period dramas, the only choices are King Geunchugo, which, according to [livejournal.com profile] momosan has gone downhill and, in any event, seems to be "old men talking" (tm [livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore) - traditional sageuks about royals and I don't do well. Fusion is great or sageuks about lower orders of society are fine but one of those legthy, traditional, talky sageuks and I don't mix. The Kingdom of the Winds (which I adore) is the closest I came to liking a traditional sageuk about a king, and it's not very traditional at all, miles closer to Return of Iljimae or Legend than something like Yi San. The other choice is The Duo, and the lengthy childhood section lost me. Whenever I contemplate checking it out, I think that I am going to have to sit through 8+ hours of childhood stuff and my hands sort of fall to my sides and I give up.

Well, let's hope either 49 Days or Crime Squad snaps me out.

I was browsing my JPLH eps (because I wanted some Eight/QC - am on ep 17 and they haven't had any interactions in 4 eps. Boo). And look what I found!

They did the whole Junpei arc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG!

Hyperventilate.

I was literally making high-pitched, insane noises throughout the entire scene. Not as good as this take on the scene in MG but still pretty darn amazing.

MMMMMM. ILY, drama.

How come the maker of this, who's only borrowing Hanadan scenes for the OTP, made a better and a more faithful in spirit Hanadan adaptation then whoever was the unfortunate who made BOF kdrama and all the latter had to do was to straightforwardly transfer the manga to the screen. He/she even had previous excellent Taiwanese and Japanese drama adaptations as a guide, and still managed to screw up.

You know, Qing Chuan/Eight together is even more fun and awesome then when they were trying to work it out. *melts into a puddle of goo*

Oh, they make me so happy! I want to put them in a box and protect them. And they make each other happy. Even if Four wasn't a fratricidal schemer, honestly, he's too emo for QC have any much fun with him.

Am amused to see that they kept Domyouji's obsession with feeding Makino more :P

Yes, peeking into shippy bits in ep 27 even though I am supposed to be on ep 17.

I randomly skimmed the drama version of Butterfly Lovers (which I am not watching. Not even my Peter Ho obsesion can make me watch a 40 ep drama about scholars, especially when it's partially subbed and those partial subs are very Engrishy) and to my total shock, this is BL's idea of a woman successfully cross-dressing as a man:

Did I mention she's also barely 5ft tall, doesn't seem to have bound her breasts and didn't bother lowering her voice? And yet somehow every man in 100mi radius is fooled, including Peter Ho - he is supposed to be a genius scholar but if he can't tell this is a woman, I think he has severe mental and developmental problems.

Not putting on lipstick apparently automatically makes you a man. I've been a man most of my life it seems, horrors!

Ah, so much fail.

dangermousie: (Three Kingdoms: OTP)

I am about to restart my watch of Three Kingdoms and I realized I had these caps from the last Lu Bu/Diaochan scene before he got captured and executed and I never posted them because the OTP imploded shortly after this and I didn't feel like looking at my caps. Randomly crying at one's laptop is sort of a sign of insanity. Well, I've had a month to chill since then, so here you go.

Pretty angsty caps )

I don't really have any death caps because I was too busy bawling my head while watching to cap and I can't really see myself going back to cap any time soon (I am not that much of a masochist) so there's that.

I just realized something - my two favorite cdrama OTPs are both (a) period secondary OTPs (b) involving fierce but not too-bright warlords (c) who fall in love with their tough wives at first sight (d) and end up in death-suicide which makes me bawl. Three Kingdoms had nothing on The Myth where Xiong Yu/Xiao Yue made me cry so hard I literally had to throw up and lie down. Their death scene remains the most epic, amazing, and awful drama scene I've ever seen. From anywhere.

In other news, the Warlord Mousie Would Most Like to Take Home (and then make sure he doesn't off me or steal things) award goes to:

Yup. My favorite character in 3K is still Cao Cao. I can't stand Liu Bei, who hasn't done anything awful, but I love Cao Cao, who has done plenty of awful things, including killing half my OTP and causing the other half to off herself so as to avoid submitting to dishonor. And I still love the man. Clearly, there is nothing he can do to make me not love him.

Oh, and since I am about to restart 3K, inspect more insane binges and posts. This drama devours my life.

Since Men and Legends is on my short list, I checked out the first ep, which I saw ages ago and liked, but it was so long ago that I needed a refresher.

M&L is supposed to be about two young martial artists who try to solve a murder, prevent treason, have OTPs, and go through a wagonload of angst. All in 1920 Shanghai. So basically the usual.

But after ep 1, I maintain that the true legend and mystery of this drama is how come Dylan Kuo and Peter Ho are sporting completely modern hairstyles despite everyone else having period-appropriate hair. I don't think feathering, highlights, or earrings were much used by martial artists in 1920 but what do I know. Below pic doesn't show Peter Ho's hair very well but shows Dylan's perfectly in all its highlighted, conditioned glory:

And while this pic is not from M&L, this is exactly the cut + earring Peter Ho character sports in it. As a martial artist in 1920! ROFL.

I am most amused. You can never ever wreck the idols' hair :P

Tbh, I don't mind. I like this sort of hair a lot better than historically appropriate slicked look and it's about people who can kick through buildings, so how realistic is it anyway?

I won't watch this properly until I finish Warriors and Gong, but after that, here I come! Because snarking aside, I really liked the first ep.
