Based purely on the trailer (a) this looks so much my thing - it makes me think of Icelandic sagas I used to love (someone adapt Laxdaela Saga into a show already) (b) I am going to love Sean Bean's character so very much. Date: 2011-03-04 02:06 am (UTC)The books are amazing, and I found out today that Dance with Dragons (the fifth novel in the series) is coming out on July 12 after six years of waiting. SIX YEARS.
I am excited to see HBO's adaptation, and having intensely followed news about it for over a year now, I have high hopes. Also, out of all the U.S. networks, it's HBO to which I would entrust the series' adaptation.
Anyway, it'll be interested to hear your thoughts as someone who hasn't read the books. I don't know if you plan on recapping or discussing it in the future, but if you are, I'll be there to comment.

Date: 2011-03-04 08:22 am (UTC)I've given up waiting for the next book in the series (it's been years and years) but I love it. It's epic on an almost unbelievable scale. Maybe a bit too epic actually. I go by the name "nymeria" in some online communities and it's from the Song of Ice and Fire series.
That said, it's been so long since I've read the books that I can only vaguely remember what happens in the first book. *goes off to re-read*.
