I started watching Casanova with David Tennant, Peter O'Toole, et al, and it's quite quite brilliant. I've barely watched 15 minutes and am in love.

All in all, pretty damn awesome even if you are not a Tennant fangirl. But I am. :)

1. After this clip, The Lakes just moved way up my viewing list. Yeah, I know it's a gritty and intelligent drama but I am afraid I am shallow and all my brain ic capable of processing is 'Guuuuhhh...John Simm...guhhh...making out.' I have yet to figure out how someone who is, objectively, not good-looking, manages to be so hot.

2. I found this Casanova MV with David Tennant. It looks scrumptious. Must be my weekend viewing then. I realized, however, that I am totally allergic to seeing DT upset: I begin to feel upset myself.

3. You know my mad love for Our Mutual Friend, the novel and the 1998 adaptation? And John/Bella and Eugene/Lizzie, the two mainc couples? Well, imagine my delight when I found MVs about them. Seriously, if you watch these, I dare you not to want to watch OMF.

MVs here )

4. Does anyone else love the 1990s BBC adaptation of Tess of the D'Urbervilles with Justine Waddell and Oliver Milburn as much as I do? Clearly some people do, because look what I found on youtube. So much angsty OTPishness.

Tess vids )

5. I adore Henry Tilney from Northanger Abbey. Am about to watch the 2007 version. Found this MV and am pleased to announce he seems acceptable :)

MV here )

6. And because I cannot end this post, largely about lit adaptations, without mention of my favorite adaptation hero, Mr. Thornton from North and South, here is a vid.

While watching Walk the Line I saw a trailer for Casanova which looked period and funny and coming out at the end of December and apparently has great early reviews.

Plot: in his late 20s, Casanova is in Venice and is in a bit of hot water because of his oh so very licenscious behavior, so he is forced to marry respectably. A pity (or fun) of it is that the girl he falls in love with will definitely (and understandably) have nothing to do with him. Add in the Inquisition, a lot of mistaken identities (most of them perpetrated by Casanova himself), duels, snarky battle of the sexes and the whole thing looks like it will be tons of fun. Looks like a light Opera come to life.

Plus, the pics are LOVELY (and behind the cut):

Saw Walk the Line tonight and I am in love. It is definitely an amazing movie because:

a. I saw it on 5 hours of sleep and I went to the 10:30pm showing and I still loved it and
b. I know nothing about Johnny Cash (I never even heard of him before the movie. Yeah, I know, I am from another planet) except that he was a singer, and I still loved it.

Joaquin Phoenix is amazing (and so is Reese), and he is this combo of a guy who is incredibly magnetic and at the same time a bit uncomfortable in his body. It's a killer combo and I would have had much less willpower than June who justifiably refused him all these years. Because yes, he is married, and yes, he is a drug-addict and a mess, but oh boy. Because if a man like that looked at me as if I am his whole world. and I'd jump him problems or not problems. And whoa, I never knew they could sing like that. I think I know who I am rooting for at the Oscars.

I want to see it again, and I am definitely buying a copy on DVD. My Top 5 of the year, definitely.

My favorite scenes really were the two of them singing together on stage, because it really looked as if they were making love and they weren't even touching. Crazy chemistry.
