You know what occured to me after episode 6? Hwa Young will clearly do anything so Jae Hee and Bong Sun don't get together, but it is not because she is in love with JH herself or wants him to sex her up or anything. No, what she can't deal with is the possibility that he would be able to escape from the codependent, exclusive hell that they have been trapped in together for the last x years. Because she has no such way of escape.

In other news, ooooh boy, are kdramas growing up!

Anatomy of a kiss )

Also, not related to the above, but I believe, Padam Padam is named after this awesome Edith Piaf song:

Newest entrant in the "drama that breaks Mousie's heart" is MTF ep 5.

But this scene was even worse:

These people need a therapist so badly. And not the horrid one Bong Sun has to go to, either.

This was the most unexpected, satisfying, screwed-up thing ever.

Thoughts and caps for ep 4 )

As I commented to [livejournal.com profile] firthgal, this drama pretty much marches to the beat of its own drummer, in pacing, narrative and character arcs. So even though I love it, I can see why it has low ratings. But still, I think it's a ridiculously underrated gem.

Because that means shortly I will turn into an irrational, gibbering wreck, the way I do with the best dramas. Good-bye sanity and sleep.

But! This scene! It literally made it hurt in the pit of my stomach. They are eating and she says something that is incredibly hurtful to him but she has no idea that it would be so. And he lashes out, only deliberately and guuuuuuuuuuh, the pain. (Also, Han Go Eun is freaking me out with her fixation on him but that is another story - stop stalking!).

This drama has been advertised as a comedy and it is pretty funny in places, but it is laughter through tears, and I really like that.

Another thing I like? Lee Ji Ah never plays meek characters who take and take and take crap from people. No - Jae Hee is horrible to Bong Sun so even though she is so wounded (her eyes! but then his eyes too!) she slaps him. Yesssss.

If you are not yet convinced to give this drama a chance, one of my wonderful flisties linked me to this MV. It should change your mind.

Me Too, Flower ep 2 continued to be amazing - an improbable but perfect mixture of wackiness and heartbreak. Both the leads keep hiding their damage under masks - hers of toughness and his of Puckish mischief. But the cracks begin to show.

A few caps from a few scenes )

Unrelated, but any idea who, if anyone, is going to sub What's Up? I need that drama!

I finished ep 6 of FBRS (yes, yes, I know I am very behind) and I don't find this drama meta-able but it is hugely fun. The chemistry continues insane, the drama is both wacky and emotionally touching, but my main thought is...Jung Il Woo is ridiculously gorgeous. He also looks aristocratic with those cheekbones, that stillness, that whole look. Mmmmm.

Some caps and thoughts on ep 6 )

But my new true love is Me Too Flower. It's not really like anything I've seen before - off-kilter and fractured and charming and hopeful and threaded with darkness and just...

Is it just me, or is YSY channeling young Song Il Gook here?

Caps from ep 1 )

I also started Mackerel Run, mainly to get a glimpse of the young Lee Min Ho, and holy moley, but does he freakishly look like younger version of Lee Dong Wook here:

They could be brothers!

But only in some angles. At others, he's still very much different...

First off, I apologize for how sporadic both my posts and my replies have been but real life, while good, is utterly insane in pace - I've barely had any time to myself to watch dramas, let alone post about them. It's about to get better though :)

I half-finished the first episode before I had to run and I am so in love, so obsessed, that tonight, after Baby Mousie goes to sleep, I am going to try to catch up with every released episode.

!!!!!

Why did nobody tell me?

The synopsis didn't grab me when it came out but, to be fair, I can't explain what this drama about either - it's not the plot, it's the feel - the eccentric, off-kilter drama about odd, wounded people, that made me giggle and swoon even so far.

It probably helps that I adore Lee Ji Ah.

She is a love or hate actress who seems to evoke singularly strong feelings from people, and I am firmly on the love side - she, after all, played my favorite female kdrama character of all time, Sujini in Legend. But I do think she is not incredibly versatile - she is very good in certain roles but in others misplaced. Luckily, MTF pretty much gives her the character she can play brilliantly - tough (even snarly), tomboyish, loud, wounded and faintly wistful. I love her character and want to take care of her.

Oh, and Yoon Si Yoon - my my my, how he's grown. I adored his puppy look and puppy character in Baker King (you'd have to be made of stone not to) but he is all grown up here and showing good acting chops.

Plus, he and LJA have chemistry.

Make that mondo chemistry.

You can tell this role was written for an older actor but YSY is doing very well filling Kim Jae Wook's unexpectedly vacant shoes (and that is spoken as a rabid KJW fangirl - I confess sort of imagining him in the role and wistfully sighing).

But YSY has the same vibe KJW does, which helps - a sort of intense disarming likeability - it worked for KJW in Can You Hear My Heart because even when he was snarliest, you could feel the good boy beneath, and the same is true here.

Anyway, enough blabbing, go watch.

Oh, and have a MV (spoilers for first 6 eps):

Because now I must watch Me Too Flower asap based solely on this! Seeing that I have barely any time to keep up even with FBRS (I am so behind!) this is baddddddd. But yet so goodddddd.
