First off, I apologize for how sporadic both my posts and my replies have been but real life, while good, is utterly insane in pace - I've barely had any time to myself to watch dramas, let alone post about them. It's about to get better though :)
I half-finished the first episode before I had to run and I am so in love, so obsessed, that tonight, after Baby Mousie goes to sleep, I am going to try to catch up with every released episode.
!!!!!
Why did nobody tell me?
The synopsis didn't grab me when it came out but, to be fair, I can't explain what this drama about either - it's not the plot, it's the feel - the eccentric, off-kilter drama about odd, wounded people, that made me giggle and swoon even so far.
It probably helps that I adore Lee Ji Ah.

She is a love or hate actress who seems to evoke singularly strong feelings from people, and I am firmly on the love side - she, after all, played my favorite female kdrama character of all time, Sujini in Legend. But I do think she is not incredibly versatile - she is very good in certain roles but in others misplaced. Luckily, MTF pretty much gives her the character she can play brilliantly - tough (even snarly), tomboyish, loud, wounded and faintly wistful. I love her character and want to take care of her.
Oh, and Yoon Si Yoon - my my my, how he's grown. I adored his puppy look and puppy character in Baker King (you'd have to be made of stone not to) but he is all grown up here and showing good acting chops.

Plus, he and LJA have chemistry.

Make that mondo chemistry.
You can tell this role was written for an older actor but YSY is doing very well filling Kim Jae Wook's unexpectedly vacant shoes (and that is spoken as a rabid KJW fangirl - I confess sort of imagining him in the role and wistfully sighing).

But YSY has the same vibe KJW does, which helps - a sort of intense disarming likeability - it worked for KJW in Can You Hear My Heart because even when he was snarliest, you could feel the good boy beneath, and the same is true here.
Anyway, enough blabbing, go watch.
Oh, and have a MV (spoilers for first 6 eps):

Date: 2011-12-02 07:17 pm (UTC)i've been watching clips of this here and there coughkissscenecough and i find lee jiah to be... forceful in screen presence, in that the level she's acting at (and she's obviously not a transcendent kind of actress) is very visible? makes one nitpicky. i feel like she could grow on me though, because of hints i've gotten of her character being insecure in a way that isn't superficial sort of, in the way we usually get of i'm plain and that boring screechy lady over there is so beautiful. also because i really like her voice!
yoon shi yoon's deep voice really helps him not appear so young. he's so fucking pretty. i'm probably going to be looking this up soon.

Date: 2011-12-02 10:03 pm (UTC)I was instantly engaged by how frank the two leads were with their feelings. Sometimes, in kdramas, I get tired of the runaround so I like direct leads who can admit without endless pining that they like each other. I'm sold just for that dynamic. And then they are affectionate! Is this an alternate reality? Yep, they got me.

Date: 2011-12-02 11:47 pm (UTC)I just spent the wee hours of my one night off from studying, watching this half subbed and half raw on youtube. I started with episode 6 and went on til 8. I love these two! They do have a ton of chemistry!
I find myself not caring one bit that he's supposed to be older because they look too god together to matter!
And you're def right about the vibe. I paused and thought about it and yea, he's got that subtle likability about him that draws me to watch these two.
