dangermousie: (Legend: Chuhro and Sujini by miss-dian)
[personal profile] dangermousie
First off, I apologize for how sporadic both my posts and my replies have been but real life, while good, is utterly insane in pace - I've barely had any time to myself to watch dramas, let alone post about them. It's about to get better though :)

I half-finished the first episode before I had to run and I am so in love, so obsessed, that tonight, after Baby Mousie goes to sleep, I am going to try to catch up with every released episode.

!!!!!

Why did nobody tell me?

The synopsis didn't grab me when it came out but, to be fair, I can't explain what this drama about either - it's not the plot, it's the feel - the eccentric, off-kilter drama about odd, wounded people, that made me giggle and swoon even so far.

It probably helps that I adore Lee Ji Ah.

She is a love or hate actress who seems to evoke singularly strong feelings from people, and I am firmly on the love side - she, after all, played my favorite female kdrama character of all time, Sujini in Legend. But I do think she is not incredibly versatile - she is very good in certain roles but in others misplaced. Luckily, MTF pretty much gives her the character she can play brilliantly - tough (even snarly), tomboyish, loud, wounded and faintly wistful. I love her character and want to take care of her.

Oh, and Yoon Si Yoon - my my my, how he's grown. I adored his puppy look and puppy character in Baker King (you'd have to be made of stone not to) but he is all grown up here and showing good acting chops.

Plus, he and LJA have chemistry.

Make that mondo chemistry.

You can tell this role was written for an older actor but YSY is doing very well filling Kim Jae Wook's unexpectedly vacant shoes (and that is spoken as a rabid KJW fangirl - I confess sort of imagining him in the role and wistfully sighing).

But YSY has the same vibe KJW does, which helps - a sort of intense disarming likeability - it worked for KJW in Can You Hear My Heart because even when he was snarliest, you could feel the good boy beneath, and the same is true here.

Anyway, enough blabbing, go watch.

Oh, and have a MV (spoilers for first 6 eps):

I was soooo sad when Kim Jae Wook was taken off this project. I'm still enjoying me too flower but I would have much prefer KJW over this guy. He's so cute faced! Its hard to buy his character sometimes. KJW was super pretty but also more manly looking. But ah well lol, we make do. This is a really interesting drama, I think its by the same people that did My lovely Kim Sam Soon, which I didnt like so hopefully this one doesnt annoy me as much as that one did!

FWIW, I loathed KSS but I love this one.

YSY is doing well but I keep seeing KJW in the role and wailing - I wanted him in this so badly.

I really love this show. I love how wounded these people turn out to be.

And yeah, this is a really good role for LJA. She seems to be connecting with her character.

I think she does only a certain type of character so well, but luckily this is it.

lol your icon is qt. i was just thinking about how i haven't watched the legend yet. :( lol this probably won't be rectified soon this masters is wrecking my eyes but – !!!

i've been watching clips of this here and there coughkissscenecough and i find lee jiah to be... forceful in screen presence, in that the level she's acting at (and she's obviously not a transcendent kind of actress) is very visible? makes one nitpicky. i feel like she could grow on me though, because of hints i've gotten of her character being insecure in a way that isn't superficial sort of, in the way we usually get of i'm plain and that boring screechy lady over there is so beautiful. also because i really like her voice!

yoon shi yoon's deep voice really helps him not appear so young. he's so fucking pretty. i'm probably going to be looking this up soon.

She is very insecure for a variety of reasons and she's actually seeing a therapist (how unusual is this).

In some angles, YSY looks like a young Song Il Gook here and it's killing me.

damn, that's awesome.

first lee junki, now song ilgook! *____* this boy will be breathtaking in another 10-15 years.

agh, it's like dramas knew we fandom was in a funk and decided to spring all this awesome on us at once. what's up begun today! vampire idol beginning soon!

I'm NOT touching this untill it's done. ;) I'm also one of those people who didn't really care for MNKSS so I'm a bit hesitant about how this one would fare. You never know though, I'm loving TwDR which is by the folks who wrote QSD and that one bored me to death. So, Imma going to give 'Me Too, Flower' a go over once it's all done, unless it turns into crap - always a possibility. Plate is full, you see and I've learned patience. *g*

I loathed KSS and WUF, this writer's previous dramas, so I am shocked to find myself loving this...

WUF was by the same writer as MNKSS?! No wonder I dropped it after 2nd or 3rd ep. I couldn't stand watching any further. I think it was worse than MNKSS which I at least was able to finnish.

I must admit, just yesterday I said I wasn't going to watch. But after going to soompi to investigate the kiss, I somehow ended up watching episode 6 (just for reasearch) and then I scanned the raw of episode 8 and here I am about to start the series.

I was instantly engaged by how frank the two leads were with their feelings. Sometimes, in kdramas, I get tired of the runaround so I like direct leads who can admit without endless pining that they like each other. I'm sold just for that dynamic. And then they are affectionate! Is this an alternate reality? Yep, they got me.

Oh man you (and dramabeans' recaps) are really making it hard for me to avoid this show :P I want to watch it but then I remember it's by the writer of Kim Samsoon and I remember how much I loved it in the beginning and then things sort of went up in flames for me by the middle and now I truly hate that drama. But hopefully this won't derail and become completely unikeable by the end.

See, I disliked KSS throughout (though it solidified to hate by the end) and ditto for What's Up Fox, so it's shocking to me this is working so well for me, but it is.

LOL
I just spent the wee hours of my one night off from studying, watching this half subbed and half raw on youtube. I started with episode 6 and went on til 8. I love these two! They do have a ton of chemistry!
I find myself not caring one bit that he's supposed to be older because they look too god together to matter!
And you're def right about the vibe. I paused and thought about it and yea, he's got that subtle likability about him that draws me to watch these two.

Exactly, the chemistry is out of this world.

Legend pissed me off because I feel like Sujini got gypped the most with her character ending since with their half assed attempt to tie up all the plot threads, they just returned her back to square one in the end as if nothing mattered and she didn't get affected like any human would by what happened. >_<

I was a bit surprised to hear about her secret marriage after the fact and I felt sorry for her that the fallout seemed to have destroyed a nascent relationship.

Hmmm, what about the Legend ending that annoyed you vis-a-vis Sujini? I rather liked it so curious.

From: [identity profile] kainee.livejournal.com
I was just annoyed about how abbreviated the ending was since I wish we had spent more time on Sujini. I think I would've been okay with her returning to her old habits but then also showing how she grew and had another side too. It felt like going into the whole drama of "the struggle" with the knife that accidentally cut the kid's hand was prolonged and unnecessary and took away time that could've been devoted to the other characters I liked better like Sujini and Cheoro. It's funny how I was annoyed by the established stars who acted in Legend but I'm happy with the discoveries from Legend since I like Lee Ji Ah and Philip Lee. BTW, the way they introduced Philip Lee's character was probably one of my fave scenes from that series. The flashback was also not so wince inducing all because of Lee Ji Ah's performance. She was kickass as both incarnations of the Phoenix.

Really? I thought they showed her changing a lot - hence long hair period etc and then at the end there wasn't much time in battle. It worked for me but I get that mmv.

So glad that you like this drama!!:) I'm in love with it but it seems like people are having problems with his character or whatever and are not watching the show. This is the first time I've seen both main actors and I adore the way they are portraying their roles. It is true that he seems younger than her, but they have heaps of chemestry so you forget about that pretty quicky ;) I watch the drama more for them more than for the plot itself but I am finding myself having lots of fun with everyone's interactions and also rooting lke mad for the OTP. Also, with THAT kind of kisses what is everyone complaining about anyway?;)

I just started watching Me Too, Flower myself this week, and I'm really loving it more than I expected. Before that I had been following the recaps on dramabeans, but recaps don't do it justice, probably because the plot isn't that dramatic and its strength lies in the portrayal of these complex, damaged characters and their relationships and how they grow. I don't know how to explain it, but it feels kind of low-key despite the fact that there are plenty of unrealistic things happening. But anyway, I just love the main couple! They are both awesome in their own right, and together they are perfect. Especially in episode 8, when they actually start dating, their relationship is just so beautiful.
