Lovers: still awesome

dangermousieSo, I continued with Lovers. Am in middle of ep 17 of it and definitely definitely love.
I love that Kang Jae and Mi Joo are both grown-ups, with grown-up approaches and problems. Once he realizes that he can’t hide his love from himself any more, he asks his girlfriend to break up. Mi Joo won’t really get together with him until he is single, and is certainly not trying to lure him away. Etc etc etc…
Eeeee! He asks her if she likes him. And later she comes into his room and says she does and there is kissing and omg omg omg slowly her arms go around him.
OMG, Sae Yoon’s (secondary guy, who is awesome) Mother is SCARY. No wonder she is the big mob boss (bmb)’s wife. When she thought MJ and SY would get married, she was all sweetness and light, but now that she realized that MJ likes Kang Jae and also that KJ is bmb’s kid so SY might be threatened? SCARY. She tells her bf/evil mob guy that well, since that Doctor (MJ) isn’t going to come into their family after all, if they hurt her, this will devastate KJ and if KJ is devastated, bmb is devastated and then they can take over. And tells him to wring every tear MJ has. *stab* And the evil guy is all ‘she is going to a conference at seas-side…tragic’ (I have to say, in their evil way, Mother and Evil Guy are very compatible and functional. He is all ‘shall I buy you a present on the way back?’).
But luckily (because this isn’t MISA or similar), Kang Jae finds out and I love love love the scene of when she is in her hotel room at the sea and there is a knock and it’s him. OMG. And she is flustered and a bit on the defensive (because she told him they shouldn’t be together) and he is super bland and is ‘shall we use this room together?’ and when she demands to know why he is here, he replies he came to look at the ocean (!!!) And she is all ‘you are over 30, you’ve seen ocean before.’ LOL And he asks her what, she’s never shared a room with a man before? Heeee. And then he follows her to her lecture/presentation (did I mention their psycho chemistry? Because consider it mentioned) and they even have the same mannerisms, and she is so distracted. And eeee, when sleazy guy who tried to grope her earlier appears, and asks if she wants to go for dinner OMG ROFL: she calls Kang Jae and asks if it’s OK to bring him with her and puts her arm around his neck and is all ‘this is my senior, and this is Kang Jae, a gangster I am very close to.’ And as Kang Jae is meditatively flexing the really sharp pen back and forth she continues that ‘KJ has this weird condition where he can’t stand to see someone try to treat me the way you did’ (paraphrase) and the guy backs away as he remembers that scene, and KJ is all ‘are you crazy?’ but he is smiling.
You know why they are such a good OTP? They are both alive when they are together: they enjoy their bickering so much, and the teasing and it’s just…they are happy with each other. I think that little speech KJ says earlier to his second in command about how he kept saying he should go to gf but he couldn’t, because he just kept thinking about Mi Joo, and he was thinking that if he was with her, he could be happy not rarely but often, is so on point (side-note: it’s heart-breaking that he views happiness with wistful longing of someone not used to it). Just think of the scene when he took her racing: they were both so happy, and playing like kids (and OMG, the hot, where they had to change together, or when he was bucking her in. *phew*). No wonder he wants to prolong any contact, even through pretending he found her hat. He never has such fun with his (now-ex) gf. It’s all duty, no sparkle. (Side note: how HOT was his going down on his knees to beg his gf to release him. OMG OMG OMG OMG. And then Mi Joo finding out about it later and telling him he is not allowed to kneel, she should be the one kneeling).
And I love how he gets her luggage moved to a way bigger room and when she asks why, he is all ‘there is only a double bed’ and says that if they stayed in such a small room, he’d be thinking about making love to her. *dies*
And anyway, he takes care of the bad guys, so it’s all safe now. And I love how she realized something was wrong, and isn’t panicky, just asks if she is in danger and he says yes and she asks why and he replies it’s because she knows this dangerous guy.
I love Mi Joo, she doesn’t flip, or anything. And afterwards, after the danger is past, they are talking on the beach, and she asks if it’s always going to be like this [dangerous] and he says if she is with him, then yes and I love how she replies (paraphrase): ‘It’s OK because you always come for me and save me’ (eeeeeeee! I love that she trusts him so utterly). And he smiles a little and replies, that yeah, that’s him ‘saving the world and saving the girl.’ And they stand on the beach, not touching but happy. And she asks him why he didn’t sing at the Christmas pageant because he has such a pleasant speaking voice (he does, low and awesome!) and he says he doesn’t sing because before, he’s rarely been happy enough to sing, and she asks ‘then how about today?’ and after a pause, he mumbles ‘don’t laugh’ and starts singing, quietly, this love song, and they aren’t touching or even looking at each other, and he does have a nice voice (though not enough to become a professional singer) but OMG their quiet happiness and the shining look in her eyes…
