dangermousie: (Dr Who: Nine/Rose 'plus one' by shootmef)
I was showing S1 of Doctor Who to [livejournal.com profile] filmi_girl. We watched first four eps. EEEE!

I've forgotten how much I adore Nine and S1, my favorite of all new Who seasons. And how much I love Rose, and the Doctor's edge: part near suicidal desperation and part reckless, crazy, giddy joy as a means of distraction, and the exploration of what it means to be a space traveler and what it means to be human and not human, and the shipping (oh God, the scene in the sellar in the ep in Cardiff in 1869 with the Gelth makes my heart melt so so much) and Rose's family and everything.

Oh, everything!

I know I need to meta but I am so tired so a few caps instead, from my favorite scene in the first four eps.

Not sure what I love most: their determination to go down fighting, his blaming himself for putting her in danger and her responding it was not his fault (he so needs someone to tell him that about something), the handclasp, the mutual 'glad to have met you', the mad grins. I love that scene SO MUCH.

More Caps Here )

All caps are from here.

I love David Tennant, but Christopher Eccleston will always be my favorite Doctor.

Is it any wonder I love Bollywood movies?

Here is a plot synopsis for Tumse Acha Kaun Hai, with Shammi Kapoor:

Ashok (Shammi Kapoor) cannot forget that his childhood prank has cost his little sister her eyesight. To atone, he wants to restore her vision but cannot afford the cost of the operation. So he takes up a strange assignment. Sarojini Devi (Lalita Pawar), who hates love marriages, because her twin sister had a disastrous one, hires Ashok to break up the love affairs of her two younger grand-daughters and make her eldest grand-daughter, Asha (Babita), who hates men, amenable to marraige. Ashok carries out his task admirably, but also falls in love with Asha. Furious, Sarojini Devi first exposes him and then sacks him.

Ashok goes home to find that his blind sister Roopa (Jayanthi) has been raped and thinks that she has commited suicide. Swearing revenge he sets out in search of the rapist (Pran), who becomes Asha's fiance and abducts her grandmother to replace her with evil twin sister. Will Ashok find his sister? Will Roopa get back her eyesight and her brother's love?

This could not get any better!

I started watching Casanova with David Tennant, Peter O'Toole, et al, and it's quite quite brilliant. I've barely watched 15 minutes and am in love.

Screencaps )

All in all, pretty damn awesome even if you are not a Tennant fangirl. But I am. :)

I am normally pretty indifferent to celebrity couples, but Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams are an exception for some weird reason. And apparently, they are back together, making them one of only 3 celebrity couples I actually dig (that are still together, I dug some other ones which broke up). The other two are (1) Abhishek Bachchan and Aiswarya Rai (Bollywood stars who are married) and (2) Lee Seo Jin and Kim Jung Eun (Korean stars). Yay!
