Snow Queen, Witch Yoo Hee, Goong and yes, I am still in thrall to the cultural products of Korea...

Must post my London pictures!

I am watching ep 9 of Snow Queen right now (after rewatching certain bits of DGCH repeatedly earlier) and OMG so good! He is falling apart on finding out who Bo Ra really is and then OMG OMG OMG hurt/comfort!!! Because he didn't show up for work and she is so worried (so not like her) and she finds him passed out in the gym, and there she is in her design outfit and expensive shoes, sponging his face, and her hands are shaking, and he is borderline delirious and she gets up to change the water and he holds her hand and whispers 'Don't go' because his usual barriers are worn down by grief and illness and eeeeeee! And she calls Geon Soo because he's a doctor (and reassures TW even though he is out of it, thus not worried, it's reassuring herself) and she doesn't care what it looks like and her appearance doesn't matter, and the fact that she trips carrying the basin doesn't matter (she falls and just picks herself up, feverishly active), and you can see the shock for GS as he finds her frantically scrubbing cloth. And she tells Geon Soo she won't go back with him but stay to take care of TW. EEEEEE!

I am SO excited about Witch Yoo Hee. First three eps are out and first two are Chinese-subbed (hopefully English subbed soon, as I don't speak Chinese :P). It has fun and Chefs and romance and (most importantly to moi) Jae Hee as the male lead (and also Kim Jung Hoon, Prince Yul in Goong as second male lead). *meep*

I am dling the soon-to-be subbed raws of If in love...like them and first two eps of Witch Yoo Hee right now. Hmmmm, maybe I should ul them on jdramas if no one has yet when I get the subs. Yay.

And last but not least, because I seem to be incapable of ever getting over Goong (reserved boys learning how to be human and saved from loneliness by bubbly girls is my favorite trope ever), I bring you my newest favorite Goong Shin/Chae-Gyung MV.

Mr. Mousie had the computer the whole day. I am in withdrawal, I tell you!

I hate the word ‘magyk’ even more than the word ‘shoppe.’ Fake-rustic-cutesy and makes me think of pretentious people who need a spell-check.

Oooh, Hrithik is finally getting snarky:

A: I guess I’d say thank you and give him a thesaurus as a birthday gift.

Ahhhh, the slash possibilities :P

And I have read up on Gantz anime and it sounds fantastic, must watch. It’s a 26-episode anime about a number of people who are transported at the moment of their death to an enclosed room and are forced to participate in a Battle Royale type game. It centers around Kei Kurono, who died with his best friend, after they attempted to save a hobo from train tracks.

It sounds really really good:



I have also read the first volume of Tenshi Ja Nai!! and not sure what to think of it. The heroine goes to an all-girls school but her roomie is a boy in drag (and I assume eventual bf). It lostme though because in order to make her keep the secret he took a hidden topless pic of her. I don't care if he is cross-dressing to earn $$$ for his comatose father's medical bills. He lost me from then on. Oh well.

And speaking of that. I am quite interested in it. More dramas for me. Oh noooo. Oh YES

I just added another kdrama to my already immense viewing list (you do not want to know how many dramas I have on disc/harddrive that I haven’t seen yet): Hotelier an oldie (2001) but goodie 20 ep drama that revolves around the complicated lives and loves of a bunch of people in the hotel indistry.

Why? There are ruthless men in suits with messed-up background, who discover what it is to love. There are spunky, unmaterialistic heroines. Rain scenes and smoochies and angst and happy ending. What’s not to like?

I guess this will be my first Bye Young Joon drama, which is odd since Winter Sonata is so super famous (I still saw posters with images from it in Japan) but I am watching this first. I do own WS and intend to watch it relatively soon (amnesia! Blindness! True love in the snow! :D) but later. It’s going to be weird, since unlike most people familiar with BYJ, my first exposure to him wasn’t as the sweet romantic of WS but as the unscrupulous, slutty, horrid but fun lead in Untold Scandal, the Korean take on ‘Dangerous Liasons,’ a movie which has more nudity and sexual activity in the first five minutes than all of the Korean dramas I’ve ever seen put together. And now the word ‘exposure’ is beginning to seem oddly unfortunate :D

Actually, this leads me to the question. How come Korean dramas are so very chaste (even more so than Taiwanese dramas) but Korean movies can be very explicit: Untold Scandal, Chunhyang (I adore that movie, but oh boy, it’s clearly a very hard R), and I haven’t seen 3-Iron yet but on the back of my DVD it says it’s rated ‘R’ for sexual content so it can’t be all flowers and puppies. Odd.

But to get back to dramas I want to see: there is Which Star Are You From, (or Which Planet Are You From, I've seen both) about a man who loses his gf but learns to love again when he meets a woman who looks exactly like her.
