The Illusionist

We just watched The Illusionist and run, don't walk to see it. It's my favorite HW movie this year, so far.

It's clever and fascinating and drags you in and the acting is amazingly spot on (Edward Norton has the SEXIEST voice btw). The cinematography is gorgeous and what the movie gets spot on is the look for both people (none of which look like 21st century people transposed into period costumes. E.g. Jessica Biel looks like old photographs) and places: the feel of the movie is sepia-toned and Victorianly-right.

Go. Watch it.

Also, I am now going to imagine Norton as the protagonist of Carter Beats the Devil, one of my fave books.

Majo No Jouken: now with even more angst.

So yes, I've been continuing my watching of Majo No Jouken. I have to say, I've been getting so anxious, I actually watched the ending to see how it turned out. ( Spoilers for ending )

But yes, it continues to be excellent and very angsty. I was going to keep on writing ep thoughts and then posting it all in bulk, but I think two eps is long enough and I just might OD on angst before I finish, so just in case...( Spoilers for eps 6 and 7 )

I love SRK playing this cold-blooded, dangerous dangerous man. Bad guy. And clearly having way too much fun and looking amazingly sexy to boot. Lucky lucky Priyanka. And he is going to be dancing!!! I missed his dancing in KANK though it would have been OOC there. I am EXCITED beyond belief.

Actually, since I watched all of MnJ through eps 10 this weekend, here is the rest of the write-up.

OK, Episode 8 was going to give me a heart-attack ( If this OTP was a puppy, a truck would run it over. Three times. On a good day )

But it's a good thing no heart attack in ep 8, because eps 9 and 10 were certainly even more scream-inducing. ( Seriously. How many mirrors did the OTP break to get such luck? )

But I remember reading a discussion somewhere (was it at winterspel's LJ?) about how doramas don't really have good kisses, just little lip-pressing or similar, and that's certainly been true in my experience. At most you get a little peck and most of the time it's unmoving. No idea why that is but it is a bit frustrating (still could be like Bollywood and have a lack of kissing at all, so I'll take what I can get).

But anyhow. I just wanted to post this (it's from A Love to Kill and is unspoilery unless you think it's spoilery that the male and female lead in a romantic drama kiss each other at least once) because this is complete opposite of the ones mentioned above. It's one hell of a kiss. See, it can be done! :) I wouldn't swear there is no tongue. What is this wicked world coming to, and can we have more of it?
