Max Evans: my favorite alien

OK, now my Max and Liz posts. I am so totally happy with the way their story turned out, you have no idea :)

I'll start with Max.

It's rather interesting, but I think this season you do discover a dark side to Max, and undesirable qualities. He is obsessive, we knew it from before. Maybe that's why he keeps himself under such control. Because otherwise, combine obsessiveness with good planning skills and ruthlessness in achieving his goals, who knows what would happen.

I absolutely adored Max/Liz in the third season. Maybe because they are one of the few fictional couples where I enjoy RST as much as I do the UST. And they were together (and how!) for most of the season, with the exception of Ch-Ch-changes and Panacea. If they are establishing the boundaries of their relationship in S1 and S2 is their lowest point, S3 is undoubtedly the best in terms of togetherness (IMO).

Basically, Liz is what keeps Max grounded and sane. No matter what other crazy stuff is going on in his life, if he has Liz, he is OK. And the same is true with Liz. That is why there they are, at the end, on the run from the FBI, no normal future possible, but they have each other and their “created” family and they are doing good and are happy.

Being a list-obsessed person, I am making a list of my Top Dozen episodes. Put them in chronological order, as I couldn't rank them, except that TEotW is my favorite ep.

1 Blind Date (s1): Liz is set up on a date and Max gets drunk and actually pours out his feelings. One of the most romantic Roswell eps ever.

2 Independence Day (s1): Michael angst. It's just a really good ep, period, but it's on the list especially for the scene where the falling apart Michael stands outside Maria's window and she lets him in and dries him and he cries and she comforts him.

3 Sexual Healing (s1): Max and Liz all over each other, so young and in love and crazy. This ep comes closest to making me blush. Maria and Michael's "experiments" and the tag with Michael telling Maria he saw inside her is just the icing on the cake.
