Roswell Top 12 list
Aug. 17th, 2005 03:31 pmBeing a list-obsessed person, I am making a list of my Top Dozen episodes. Put them in chronological order, as I couldn't rank them, except that TEotW is my favorite ep.
1 Blind Date (s1): Liz is set up on a date and Max gets drunk and actually pours out his feelings. One of the most romantic Roswell eps ever.
2 Independence Day (s1): Michael angst. It's just a really good ep, period, but it's on the list especially for the scene where the falling apart Michael stands outside Maria's window and she lets him in and dries him and he cries and she comforts him.
3 Sexual Healing (s1): Max and Liz all over each other, so young and in love and crazy. This ep comes closest to making me blush. Maria and Michael's "experiments" and the tag with Michael telling Maria he saw inside her is just the icing on the cake.
4 White Room (s1): Now, this episode made me squirm and peek through my fingers. It was intense, and brutal and made me want to hunt down the Special Unit myself. Add in Michael wearing a suit (and learning about his powers), Liz’s planning, Max in hell, and Maria-Michael moments, you’ve got one heck of an ep.
5 Destiny (s1): Go ahead, break my heart. From Max's confession of love to Liz in the abandoned van, to Michael's horror at what his powers are and giving up Maria for her sake, to Liz giving up Max because he has a destiny...lovely!
6 The End of the World (s2): By far my favorite, even though I don’t think I’d rewatch it too much, because it just tore the heart out of my chest and did a little dance on the remains. Liz and Max angst is amped in a way it hasn’t been before or since and the whole “she has to hurt him and give up her happiness to save the world” is just too horrible. This one maxed out even my angst capabilities.
7 Viva Las Vegas (s2): Funny and bittersweet and off the wall. I love Michael and Max interaction in this episode, from the bonding to the fight back to bonding. I love Max/Liz angst and a moment of peace. I love Michael doing one of the sweetest things he's ever done and using the rest of his $ to give Maria her dream of singing at an audience and just watching her with a proud look on his face. I love seeing Tess and Alex and Kyle and Iz let loose.
8 Departure (s2): All the Max/Liz angst, Michael opening up to Maria (in what is in the running for the most romantic scene ever on Roswell), the resolution of Alex and Tess plots, and hope for future at the end.
9 Busted (s3): I think there are a lot of people who don't like this, but I do. I adore the grainy "present day," the Liz/Max bond, his asking her out, the Bonnie and Clyde stint, Michael matter of factly taking care of Maria, everything.
10 Ch-ch-changes (s3): As I said I am a sucker for angst, and this ep provides plenty. Max falling apart because he can't heal Liz and is causing her pain, Liz's outburst (long delayed) about Tess, their tear-out-your-heart parting. Perfect.
11 Chant Down Babylon (s3): I loved all the angst. The Michael-Isabel interaction is great, but what I loved even more is Liz falling apart at the seams when she feels Max is dead, and Max coming to Vermont all lost, confused and possessed. When they kiss on the quad...*fans self* And he tells her to kill him because he's unsafe. And she supports him at the end as they walk away.
12 Graduation (s3): Everything gets tied up in a way I want. Max proposes and Max and Liz get married. Michael tells Maria how he felt and Maria realizes her folly and they get together as well. And everyone I like piling in a van and running away from the FBI. How could it get any better?
Least Favorite Episode:
So I Married an Alien (s3): Isabel is dull. Jesse is dull. The whole ep centered around them Bewitched style is an idea that doesn't work. Kudos for trying, but except for the "LizMaxLizMaxLizMaxLizMax" routine and seeing Michael "perfect" his golf game and with 60s hair, there is nothing about this ep I want to rewatch.
