Or is it going to make my One Tree Hill watching seem pleasant in comparison? After all it does have Katie "Kidnapped by the cult" Holmes and James "oldest and baldest teen ever" Van Der Beek...

Well Joey and Pacey were another one of those cult chemistry phenomenon couples. And they do get a happy ending.

It's kind of long winded though (lots of seasons). And it might be too soapy for your (most characters go through a bunch of couplings till they get paired with their one true love).

They did have some extremely good writing early on.

And Pacey strikes me as the Logan type in some of his actions.

Sadly, I didn't watch regularly enough to be able to give you any tips on which seasons are the most worthwhile ones.

Yeah, I was surprised the titular character of the show didn't get the girl...

That's a big negative, right there. You get one pass, one time. After that, choose! (I am going to scream if Veronica is going to keep going back and forth between Duncan and Logan). I mean, make up your freaking mind!

Pacey strikes me as the Logan type in some of his actions.

Heee. You know just what buttons to push :)

From a quality statement I would say "dear God no". I watched a lot of it though, because I was an RA and it was fun to watch with my froshes and make fun.

Also, I'd love to hear your take on it, so I am torn.

Hey I compared Duncan to Angel so you shouldn't trust my judgement :D

Yeah, I was surprised the titular character of the show didn't get the girl...

Well at least according to their fans it was because of the overwhelming power of their wazooo chemistry.

It apparently was more a cultural phenomenon. I remember when it came out everybody was watching it and I was the only one who didn't like it (and even I got sucked in for like half a season or so against my better judgement).

Heh. I mind end up renting some random eps and doing a OTH with them: putting them on 2x with subtitles and watching a few to see how it works. Shows don't have to be good to be entertaining :)

Yup, Duncan's no Angel. Heee :) I don't think there's an Angel equivalent on VM, anyway. Too pragmatic a show for the deathless star-crossed thing...

Heee. Chemistry will sell me on almost anything

You could always watch just what are considered the most important and romantic Pacey/Joey episodes and skip the rest.

Or check out a few music vids deciding whether you like them or not.

Looks like they are trying out for the BA vibe:

For the record, they were another "I don't like them, but even I admit they had chemistry" type of couples. I really liked the scene where they go to a dance class together and the teacher tells them that they are obviously in love (they deny it naturally at this point) because only people who are hot for each other dance as badly together.

That means I've been in love with a huge number of people in my time :P

The pics are very cute, but he isn't. Also, not tall. Maybe he's got a sizzling personality? I didn't think Logan was hot either, so there's always hope...

If a couple has chemistry, I'll overlook most things.

Btw, have you ever watched Battlestar Galactica? We have such widely differing ship views, I am curious about your thoughts on the ships on that show...

I've tried one episode of BSG but it just struck me as weird and boring. It's probably the kind of thing where you have to see a couple of episodes to get into it?

Naw, he isn't cute at all (even though, everything better than the Beek), but I do remember him having charisma and acting abbility. Not enough to keep me drawn to the show, but he struck me as fairly good. Plus you know me, can't stand pure relationship based shows.

On Dawson's Creek I liked the coupling of Pacey with his earlier girlfriend Audrey. And I liked Jenn (who was always trying to be the moody/bitchy/slutty one) being romances by a babyfaced footballplayer whom she keeps rejecting because he is one year younger than her. That was a very sweet storyline from what I remember (they do get together eventually, don't know how it ended though, because I had stopped watching at that point).

Yeah, BSG is one of those really complicated concepts shows and if you come in, in the middle, you are a bit lost. I do recommend renting the first few eps of season 1. I know you get interested in concepts, and this one is quite good. Plus, no severe dragged out UST.

Ah, I'll see. After all I do like SciFi a lot. Then again, I don't really need a new show right now. Plus? I thought Firefly was very, very boring. And I saw all episodes except the never shown on tv ones (and I think I even saw one of those).

Well, YMMV of course.

Btw, I saw some more Pacey pictures, and I am out. Yuck. Both he and Dawson are WASPily hideous. Meh.

LOL, you wont miss that much ;) (again the show had like 7 or 9 seasons? I saw like half a season; so I'm not your biggest expert)

Besides, chances are that it's probably pretty dated at this point anyway.

They had some extremely hysterical shipper wars though :D

9 seasons? 9?????? Good Lord.

Yeah, nothing brings on them shipper wars the way triangles do. I am kinda surprised about the lack of shipper wars in Veronica Mars, so far.

The most worthwile thing about that show is Joey and Pacey, circa S3. The chemistry between Josh Jackson and Katie Holmes is just incredible. And Pacey Witter is in my "top five fictional men" category. At first glance he's just a regular slacker teen, but there's something so noble about him when you look past the surface.

So I'm not sure that I'd recommend the show (especially since I HATE the titular character more than I've ever hated a fictional person in my life), but Pacey/Joey, second half of S3, might be worth the price of admission.

I just looked it up and apparently they only had 6 seasons after all. Still felt too frikking long to me and I wasn't even watching (I could just tell based on how long the shipper wars were going on).

I think the problem was the Joey and Dawson were like the intended childhood sweetheart couple. But then Joey/Pacey happened, had a lot of fans, lots of chemistry, people started pushing for it and in the end they (potentially) changed the originally changed the original end around so Joey and Pacey could end up together.

Of course, I was never truely part of the fandom (I'm just one of those schadenfreude onlooker when fandoms I don't care about duke it out), so I might be getting this all wrong.

Ever tried Dark Angel? Another scifi-ish show I could never really get into. And it's relatively short I think (only two or three seasons).

Dark Angel didn't finish its story arcs, so I am staying away...

Dawson's Creek, when I watch it, makes me exceedingly and inexplicably happy. It might be the all-around (IMO) snark, which is delish, or the Joey/Pacey OMGadorableness. No, I am not a devotee, I'd say I've watched maybe five eps all the way through. But I like it. You might, too.

But then again, you might not. The eps I've seen have been maddeningly typical, story-wise, for a teenish drama. BSG is not so formula, which is why I like it, it's all uncharted so it can surprise me. The teenish drama genre has been picked at and picked at, until you often have to get really super kinky to do anything new and fresh.

Cute icon! I decided to stay away, I think: it's hard to slog through that many seasons and...gasp...Pacey is not gorgeous enough to compensate (maybe he's hot though?)

Dawson hate amuses me. Because J vdB is bizarre looking. I am shallow

What can I say? I wouldn't know, I wasn't watching :D

My other suggestions are still Lois&Clark (for campy fun) or La Femme Nikita (for lots of crazy angst).

Yeah, I ended up really bored with OTH. I guess DC might be one of those "rent it on a slow night" things...
