I have finished ep 5 of Orthros No Inu and it was total love. Last year was a wash for me, jdrama-speaking - I cannot think of a single one I liked. This year is shaping lovely though - I am obsessed with OnI, I adored what I have watched of Smile (must complete now the subs are done), Otomen is very cute, and filmi_girl just introduced me to the adorableness that is Buzzer Beat. Not bad, jdrama world, not bad.

The more we learn of Ryuzaki's background and the insane effect he has one everyone around him, the more I understand where he is coming from and his hard-as-rocks attitude. Human race hasn't done much to endear itself to him. And that is probably why he likes Hasebe - she is not driven mad by him - sure she wants her daughter cured but not at the cost of everything - there are things she will never give up (in a way, while he asks for the most important thing in exchange for cures, he only willingly seems to cure those who have something precious they will never give up in exchange for being allowed to live - look at the singer, music was clearly more important to her than life). So yes, with Hasebe, he is about as normal as he can get - she might want him in jail or dislike his attitude or whatever, but she does not think of him as a freak - it's sort of a safe space.

I loved this scene. Hasebe's boyfriend is SCUM. He is not even sick - he wants to research Ryuzaki's power and he is willing to trade Hasebe for it? WTF! Die, scum! I do find it interesting that Ryuzaki spends an inordinate amount of time to demonstrate to Hasebe the unsuitability of her bf. Heee. We do get this awesomeness:

It's interesting - Aoi and Ryuzaki are often shot at an angle, off-kilter, but Hasebe never is.

I am so ridiculously addicted to this. I watched parts of ep 6 without subs despite not understanding anything because I had to have more. The fact that it's 10 eps so I have 5 eps left is glee-inducing.

I'm streaming from mysoju and so far it's fine barring the abrupt cut off of ep 1 - I didn't see Aoi kill the warden and Ryuzaki escape. I only got them in the previouslies for ep 2.

Is it definitely just ten eps? One the one hand, nice and compact on the other, that seems rather short. Then again, I have no benchmark for Japanese TV, other than Monkey.

yes, you get those scenes at the end of ep6 and is just so good. my heart melted when he hugged her.
and you have to watch BB. is full of sweet romantic scenes that makes your heart warm.

BUzzer Beat is very adorable and I'm looking forward to catching up on Inu! Just watched the 1st 3 eps yesterday, happy to see what I have to look forward too.

I'm kind of amazed at how much better Ryo seems to me when he's not playing some kind of ladies' man. And Takki is just gorgeous. Tiny, but gorgeous. And I've always liked the actor who plays Hasebe. Win.

I have never seen Ryo before (LF is basically my anti-drama and 1Liter sounds as fun as poking self in the leg with a knife) so am glad I am liking him here.

He was in another dorama with Nino from Arashi and Erica from lots of things (which I can't think of right now) which I tried to watch. I forget the title alas. Possibly something about meteors (not joking).

I heard that both Yamapi and Ryo had come down with flu though. OH NOES!

That's Ryusei no Kizuna, where three orphans (now adults) are trying to find their parents' murderer. It started a bit uneven, and took it's time finding the correct balance between mystery and humour, but got a lot better by the end of it.

It very much looks like both OnI and BB might face some delays in their production schedule, since both Ryo and Yamapi have just been diagnozed with influenza virus A, with a good possibility it's H1N1. Both dramas have some unfinished scenes by both of them, but they are at the moment commanded to stay home and rest and recuperate.

I don't mind about BB so much - I like it but am not obsessed. But OnI!!! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! They could just make a special consisting of Takki angsting in the shower though, to fill up the time.

But yes, it looks like the filming schedule on OnI is going to be affected since Ryo is one of the leads. And who knows if Takki will get ill as well at some point, since Ryo was clearly ill during last weekend during the 24 Hour TV which is a big annual charity event that NEWS (Ryo & Yamapi's group) was hosting this year. He was probably contagious even before that :P.
