dangermousie: (Lobbyist OTP by miss-dian)

OK, here is a list of the upcoming kdramas I am excited by. There are so many. And a lot of them seem to promise awesome heroines and swashbucking heroes.

Powerful Opponents with Chae Rim, Lee Jong Hyuk, Lee Jin Wook. "This drama portrays the job of bodyguards working in the Presidential residence Chungwadae as well as the love stories related to them. Chae Rim plays the role of Cha Young Jin who is the first female bodyguard serving in Chungwadae. Lee Jin Wook plays the President’s son Kang Soo Ho. Lee Jong Hyuk plays the role of Ryu Guan Bil who works with Young Jin as bodyguards to protect Soo Ho. These three people form triangle relationships."
Why: Female bodyguard! And it looks like her OTP is the President’s son. YES.

Cain and Abel with So Ji Sub. SJS is a mob assassin whose long-lost brother is a cop. They both fall for the same girl. Yes, this is apparently still on.
Why: Are you kidding? The story is catnip to me, plus SJS!

No pics of it out yet so a SJS pic instead:

Yeah.

Beethoven Virus with Kim Myung Min and Lee Ji Ah. Loosely (very loosely) inspired by Nodame Cantabile, this is a story of a 40-something perfectionist conductor who sucks at relationships and a 27-year-old violinist oddball.
Why: I love Lee Ji Ah with mad passion.

No pics from drama yet, so a pic of her instead:

Iljimae with Lee Jun Ki, Lee Moon Sik, Park Si Ho, Han Hyo Joo. Period drama about a person who goes around at night robbing the rich to give to the poor and falls with a girl he shouldn’t.
Why: Come on! I’d watch LJK do anything at all, and the thought of him as a period noble robber, horse-riding, sword-fighting, and loving a girl he shouldn’t? Oh YES.

When It’s at Night with Kim Sun Ah and Lee Dong Gun. “Kim Sun Ah will be playing 'Heo/Huh Cho Hee', a 29 yrs old "No.1 old maid" who is sexy with natural charms but is always mistaken by others that she's always faking it. She joins the Culture property exchange with the intentions of protecting and getting back the national treasures. Because of it, she becomes entwined in fate with 'Kim Bum Sang' (Lee Dong Gun) a flirtatious ancient fine arts study professor who is the group's consultant as they go round seeking the national treasures.”
Why: not only do I love LDG, but two professors flirting while recovering treasure? Yes please.

Iljimae with lee Seung Gi. Yup, different station, different actor, yet another version of Iljimae. Why? Why not.
Why: I love period stuff, as I said.

Strongest Chil Woo with Eric Mun. “Eric will play a lowly officer in a a court that handles crimes of treason in the Joseon era, nondescript, not very smart and whose lifelong ambition is to become a mid-level officer. However when night falls, he transforms into the top assassin in an assassination organization, who metes out punishment to evildoers and gives justice where needed. The court, the equivalent of the modern-day police department in the Joseon era, will be the setting for the drama, and the sageuk drama will feature action scenes with assassins with various secrets.”
Why: period drama where the beyond-hot Eric plays an assassin? Did they read my mind?

No filming pics yet.

Gourmet with Kim Rae Won and Nam Sang Mi. KRW is a chef and NSM is a lady journalist and the two fall for each other.
Why: I love stories about food and KRW is adorable. Plus, I like NSM.

Three Dads and One Mom with Eugene, Jo Hyun Jae, Jae Hee. Eugene plays a new mother and widow. Her husband has just keeled over. Not only that, but since he was sterile, the baby was created artificially, through a ‘donation’ by his three friends. Thus, according to release at soompi, the three ‘dads’ are: “Jo Hyun Jae who is returning to the TV screen two years after "Ballad of Seodong" will play a comic role as a successful fund manager. Shin Sung Rok plays the role of an innocent detective who cannot even speak well in front of women while Jae Hee is a 'pretty boy' comic artist who likes girls but doesn't know true love.”
Why: I like the cast and it sounds cracktastic.

Bittersweet Life with Lee Dong Wook, Oh Yeon-soo. LDW plays a guy who ends up in an affair with a much older married lady.
Why: sounds unusual and I like LDW.

East of Eden with Song Seung Hoon, Dennis Oh. This drama spans 25 years, starting from the time of the Korean war and follows the life stories of two very different men who were born in the same day and in the same hospital.
Why: SSH is incredibly hot and so is Dennis Oh. Also, I love period dramas.

Painter of the Wind with Moon Geun Young, Park Shin Yang. Period drama about a female painter who disguises herself as a man to investigate her Dad’s death.
Why: love period dramas, especially with this plot, and MGY is an awesome actress.

Must make a list like this for jdramas and twdramas

I am terribly interested in "Painter of the Wind " and "When it's all night" - they have two male leads from "Lovers in Paris" (aka my latest obsession). Both are totally awesome. Lee Dong Gun is fab and so is PArk Shin Yang.

I love LDG (btw, you might enjoy Smile Again which he starred in). Have never seen the male lead of PotW in anything though. He is a bit too old for me :(

He is a bit too old for me :(

He is just the correct age for me but I wasn't too impressed until I watched "Lovers in Paris". He is really REALLY good actor and managed to charm me totally and I am forever his fan.

"Smile again" - you know my typical questions.. ;D Anyone dies? LDG gets the girl? (because though strictly speaking he got a girl in "Lovers in Paris" it wasn't the main girl and I am slightly cautious if he is "never gets the girl" type )

I think LiP was the last time LDG didn't get the girl :)

He gets the girl in Smile Again (and no, nobody dies). It's very good and I plan to make a pusher post.

He also gets the girl in Stained Glass which is really really emo but I haven't seen it.

He gets the girl in Sweet 18 which is very fluffy and cute (he is a young prosecutor forced into arranged marriage with an 18 year old, by his family. it's hilarious).

He also gets the girl in If in love...like them, but it's a terminal illness drama. Good one, though.

I am more inclined to "Stained Glass" I recently feel that if I see another school or colledge drama I will explode. Do you know what the ending in "Stained glass" is?

SA isn't a school drama. School stuff is a prologue and only the first ep and the main story is when they are 26-28 or so?

SG: it's a bit open. They can't be together at the moment because secondary guy died and they feel bad so they go off to meet some time later.

You are convincing me. :D

O_O This is the drama with the other guy from "Full House" . And he dies. May be not.

Other guy is a jerk in SG though. I plan to watch it soon and will let you know how good it is.

I just did a SA pusher post :)

Ah, thank you for organizing this. Wow, will my kdrama obsession return this year after a long slump of randomness. I used to watch two or three dramas at a time, season after season. But the last few years have been really slow for me. But with this new onslaught of favorite actors and interesting stories, I am hopeful. And since you sound enthusiastic, I feel enthusiastic. Than you for spreading the love.

I personally look forward to Iljimae (with Lee Junki), Cain and Abel, Beethoven Virus, and Painter of the wind.
I know you didn't like nodame but I really liked it and can't wait for a kdrama interpretation. As for Painter of the wind, I love Park shin yang and moon geun young.

YEY!

Everybody except for me loved Nodame. With Nodame (and KSS) I feel like such an oddball :P

Mmmmm. Awesome post. Can't wait to see the ones with Lee Ji Ah (yay! we were discussing a while back hoping that she'd make another drama soon), Lee Dong Gun, Kim Rae Won, and Moon Geun Young.

I've been waiting for Bittersweet Life (for some reason it was named something else when I first saw it I think, but that happens all the time with Korean dramas) and My Sweet City. I'm the only person I know who is waiting for My Sweet City -- it's coming out in JUNE. I love old maid dramas and it has the potential to match my two favorite kdramas, so sign me up for it. :D

What is My Sweet City about?

And I can't believe I forgot to put Daemul on the list, the one where Kwon Sang Woo plays a guy hired to seduce the older, female President of Korea.

It's another older woman at the office / younger man at the office drama. But I love those. <3
