...to announce that the lack of subtitled Kame/Nun is presently killing my soul!

I want my starving boxers and chirpy novices!

*weeps in emo*

If I had a dollar for every time I checked for subs, I'd be rich.

But this isn't about it. Per [livejournal.com profile] calledinvain, who is really really good about finding out stuff like this:

There are rumors that there will be an upcoming live action adaptation of Peach Girl. With Yamapi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made a loud, gulpy-sounding noise when I read this.

I love Peach Girl. It's total shoujo. It was my top candidate for 'should be made into a drama' award (I try to erase the horrible Taiwanese drama out of my mind).

And now it might happen?

With Yamapi? He would be a perfect Kairi.

OMG

OMG OMG

Please.

Uhhh but doesn't Yamapi in the drama signify lack of kissing and horribly frustrating open endings?

I mean I would hope not because I might totally check out that drama despite my lack of Yamapi fangirlness but I'm worried.

Heh. I liked the ending of ProDai actually :) Plus, they are making a special :)

The manga has a pretty definite ending though, so they would be hard-pressed to make it open-ended.

Sure they can. Just leave room for a sequel. Like both Hana Kimis did, coming out after the manga ended(well, I'm told the japanese HK does...)

Grrrr...I will likely gnash teeth horribly if that happens.

Japanese one - SPOILER - sort of ends it half-according-to-manga, half-completely-vague. There's stuff that will make shippers !!!!! (assuming you can get behind the mangled OTP in the jdrama set up), but also stuff that will make people go "..wth."

Or, you know, made me go "...wth."

Just like the TW one...which I only tolerated at the time because a sequel had been announced.

I keep telling people that I can't stand Peach Girl, but they all know that's a lie. I actually even finished the anime, and that's saying a lot for my ability to tolerate bad things.

So, here's hoping the drama rumors are true... *fingers crossed*

LOL. Peach Girl is not 'good art' but is so much fun. I totally marathonned the anime. Mocked it and all, but you'd have to pry it off my cold dead fingers, if you tried to separate it from me.

askskl we'd both be rich! I am so desperate to watch this where I can actually understand even if watching it without subs has led to me giggling every five seconds and exploding with glee every time Kame does anything remotely adorable (which seems to be a lot!).

I don't know Peach Girl but I'm a little bit meh in general about Yamapi's acting!

I am seriously considering watching it without subs, which is insane, because unlike with Hanadan, which I watched raw, I don't know the manga this is based on.

Peach Girl is a very cute shoujo manga (and anime) about Momo, who is a high schooler whose tan, sun-bleached hair appearance makes people think she is a play girl. That's not true as she only used to be on the swim team and tans easily. Momo's 'friend' Sae always goes for what Momo wants, so when Sae asks who Momo likes, Momo (who likes the quiet, good-looking Touji, someone she's known for years), points her finger completely randomly at some guy in the hallway to get Sae off track. The guy she points at is Kairi, the attractive school flirt. Sae makes her move (of course) but Kairi sees right through her. And he also decides to chase Momo because hey, she likes him, right? So she should totally be easy to date, right? It's part mischief, part easy attraction (she's cute after all) but Momo is NOT interested. She thinks.

I sort of adore Kairi, and as a Yamapi fangirl can so see him do it.
From: [identity profile] our-scars.livejournal.com
Kairi reminds me a lot of Yamapi during Nobuta, so I can't wait to see him as that character (Even though I still can't see Gakki as Momo, I mean... she looks pretty when she has dark hair and fair skin... But tanned and with bleached hair??!! uhm... I hope she looks ok).

From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
You know, now that you mentioned it, you are totally right. Kairi is a more together version of Yamapi in Nobuta. yay!

The Kame drama isn't being subbed yet? HOW???? (You know, the nun was in a movie I watched yesterday...when I watch this, I'm going to keep expecting her to knee him every time he tries to hug her or anything)

I have no interest in Peach Girl(I had it recced to me once but when I looked it up, it didn't appeal) but will likely end up watching it for Yamapi and Aragaka Yui(which could be interesting, as they were girlfriend and boyfriend but not OTP in Dragonzakura)

I think we got spoiled by dancestar24 who subbed Tattakoi, Nobuta and Sapuri. Subs would come out the day after, which I have never seen elsewhere, speedwise, except for Hanadan (where sometimes the subs would be out before my vid dl finished!)

Usually it takes a week or so for fast subbers, so realistically I am not expecting to see it until late in the week, but it doesn't stop me from hoping.

I don't think PG manga/anime is your thing, it's very very shoujo. But I have no idea how the drama will be. HK jdrama had a completely different vibe and emphasis than the manga.

PG sounded like one of those endless push-pull triangles when the heroine spends most of the time mooning over one guy with the other obviously being better suited for her, and you know me and those. I didn't mind it in HanaDan(largely because the mooning seemed more awe/hero worship), but it typically drives me crazy. (Though I freely confess that a good chunk of my enjoyment of xXxHolic is because the pairing/triangle is a blatant parody of that)

Ugh, I've been refreshing for subs like crazy. I neeeeeed.Luckily the first part of the Nodame Cantabile special got subbed and is the most amazing cute crack.

As for Peach Girl with Yamapi... ouch. I tried to watch the TW version about a year ago, and it's still burning me. Despite my intense fangirling over Vaness Wu. I presume the manga was better?

Sad thing is, I like NC but don't love it, so have no interest in SP and thus nothing to distract me!

Re: Peach Girl. I adore Vanness but the drama was awful, and since it's old, it actually ended before all the really cool (to me) stuff in the manga happened, about Vanness' character background and his relationship with the heroine etc. Manga is much much better. If you like anime, the anime of PG is pretty short (24 eps) but fun and close to the manga.

as far as I know, we have to wait until Thursday til the soft subs to come out... :) It's really fast for a subbing team but I think dancestar spoiled us so much... :D

I know, dancestar totally spoiled us. How she managed to do it that fast, I'll never know.

I actually watched the entire tw version of Peach Girl. Not only was it a bad drama, but my copy was quite possibly the worst quality you could imagine. But I watched the whole thing because it was right around the time I discovered idol dramas, had just finished HYD, Meteor Garden, ISWAK and DBY, and was desperate for a live adaptation of a manga that seemed super-fun. And Peach Girl did, indeed, seem super fun.

Therefore, I find it QUITE exciting that Yamapi would be in a Japanese version. If only for the fact that we know there will be lots of charming goofiness and a potential resolution to the OTP at the end of the series! (not that I didn't LOVE the ending of ProDai and KurosagI, of course, but still)

The best thing about watching PG drama was that it was one of my earliest dramas, and I was yet optimistic and persevered with it much longer than I should have. So I ended up watching it on a train, and as it was crowded, a middle-aged, WASPy, 'yachting on weekends' guy ended up sitting next to me, and got fascinated by the oddness and watched some of it with me. LOL.

Yamapi would totally make an awesome Kairi.
