Dramas galore

First off, a few questions about some of the lesser known dramas out there. First off, Takki’s Antique. Yay or nay? Any good?

Second, I don’t think anyone on my flist except tatterpunk has seen the jdrama Brand, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. Happy ending or not?

Third, I got my DVDs of Say You Love Me kdrama in. I got it mainly because I have KRW fever, but also its ‘Dangerous Liasons’ type storyline appeals to me. Basically, Evil Woman (EW) is a successful but ruthless producer who doesn’t really feel. Her bf, Evil Guy (EG) is totally her lapdog. Into their lives enter our OTP, played by KRW and New Lady (NL). They are young and sweet and in love and they’ve known each other since childhood and they are horribly pure. So EW can’t bear the purity/goodness stuff, so she gets EG to try to take NL away from KRW and to seduce KRW herself. And she succeeds! At one point she apparently backs poor KRW into a corner and traps him and forces herself on him…heh. Poor guy. His first time too ;P Angst and angst and angst follows as his NL is clearly not happy and leaves him for good. But never fear, I peeked. Happy ending ;) Anyway, I am a sick girl, but I am too lazy to ff and I won’t get to the drama itself properly for a while. Any idea which ep the scene of KRW and EW happens? Please :P

I am really enjoying Love Story in Harvard. Interestingly, the development of the love story itself seems very realistic. They go on dates (some good some not) and talk and hang out and slowly get to know each other and fall for each other. Yay. And I loved the football scene SO MUCH. So playful and awesome and so perfect that Hyon-Woo finds out why Soo-In missed their earlier date (he was incredibly mad about it and told her so) and she did have a good reason, and he feels so sorry and he finally finds her and I love how he doesn’t apologize (because to do so would imply that he knows something she doesn’t want him to, even if he did learn it by accident, and also bring back bad memories for her) but is just sweet and adorable to her instead, teaching her how to throw a football, and she is puzzled but delighted and soon he actually makes her laugh. LOVE.

Btw, Kim Tae Hee, the female lead in this one, is Lee Wan’s sister in RL. How odd is that. I like her but the problem is I absolutely adore KRW in this one, so I am always puzzled that she doesn’t just swoon into his arms ;)

Also, unrelated I just found out that there will be a movie version of the Hwan Jini story coming out (with the same title). Hang Jini is apparently a legendary courtesan and so it will be a period movie. EEEE! Song Hye Kyo (female lead in Full House, I love her) is playing Jini. GUUUUUH. There is supposedly a bed scene with SHK (no idea who the partner is) *shocking :D* and it’s a period movie which is general awesomeness, so yeah. I am there ;)

I doubt I could think of "Say You Love Me" without hearing the ISWAK theme go through my head(one of the few dorama themes to stick in my head)

I want to see that movie so bad(not that that should surprise you) It'll be interestingt to see how they're different. (watch it be like Seven Swordsmen/Seven Swords where I adore the series then let the movie sit for ages out of fear of it not measuring up) *idly wonders if movie!Hot Bodyguard will be as awesome as series!Hot Bodyguard)

I saw the first episode of Antique, but not even the combined power of Takki, Abe Hiroshi and Fujiki Naohito(toss in Oguri Shun and/or Yamapi and I would have died of an overload about 10 minutes in...) held my interest. A lot of that, though, was that it's based on a yaoi series(which is licensed here) but from the episode(and what I've heard of other eps) they're too scared to commit to it(maybe because ofthe timeslot it aired in?) so you're left with a lot of long stares where you're wondering "are they...?"

This Hwang Jini is supposed to have a different thrust than the drama so we'll see.

Rofl, that's what I liked best about Antique... the 'love stares'. Every time they did I was like 'What the..." Granted I lost interest after about 3 or 4 episodes, but the eps I saw I did find vaguely entertaining. Not enough drama to keep going, though... there's almost NO drama in it... just too episodic.

I've only seen a couple eps of Antique. The subs are horrific - they were translated from Chinese subs very badly and while I find the drama to be passing cute thus far (and Takki is very pretty as is Fujiki), I think you would hate hate hate it.

Antique is...there were moments when I started going "this is so good" but they lasted about 15 seconds(I will say that Takki was very darling and that Abe Hiroshi and Fujiki Naohito were both in fine and expected form) I think the main thing was that they didn't seem to be quite sure WHAT kind of show it was.

Yeah, I've heard that about the Hwang Jini movie. The same is true of the Sevens(Tsui Hark is behind both...I'm told they're essentially the book-story version-series, and the special effects version-movie)

it wasn't the stares that bothered me, it was that it was like they weren't sure if they wanted to go that way or not...it wa like *love stare* *wait, did we really want to do that?*

I'm inclined to agree...the only reason I'm considering continueing with it is that I love basically the whole cast, and there's not nearly enough stuff out there with Abe Hiroshi or Fujiki Naohito.

Thanks for posting pics of Hwang Jini. I was gonna do that but kept forgetting ^^ SHK looks awesome. And the set seems very pretty too! She lost some weight for that movie, I think. Cheekbones look better, LOL. Cannot wait to watch :)

Oh, I'm definitely planning to finish it! And while doing so, I'm also praying that someone will do new subs for the better quality eps of Antique that are being uploaded to d-addicts right now, because these are just beyond awful.

Even if it takes me a while, I have a thing about finishing dramas so I can judge them as a whole.

Oh! Song Hye Kyo! I haven't seen her since seeing Full House...like a gazillion years ago ( 3 actually). I really want to see Hwan Jini- I've heard good things about it. BTW are subs for episode three of WYH out?! I am going to die from depravation if I don't see it NOW. Jae Hee and Han Ga-In are making me ROFL. Dennis Oh is such a cutie ^_^
