I am in-between dramas due to still 'coming down' from my all-consuming obsession with IRIS.

I also needed a Lee Byung Hun fix (IRIS has left me a veritable junkie when it comes to that man). That means I dug out my All In DVDs for a selective rewatch - it's sort of like a happier IRIS in some ways. All In is a drama I really like - for one, it made an absolutely hellish overnight flight to Rome bearable last year. There are some business/gambling parts I don't find that exciting (they are well-done but I am not much into business rivalries or gambling nitty-gritty) but the love story is so awesome it sort of turns my heart into a ginormous pile of mush. Lee Byung Hun plays In Ha, a former convict who gets a job at a casino after his release. His OTP? Su Yeon (played by the gorgeous Song Hye Kyo) - a former nun. Indeed. In Ha had a crush on Su Yeon since they both were high-schoolers - the rough small-time thug fell for the elegant daughter of a movie-theater owner at first sight. It is to avenge Su Yeon that In Ha commits the crime that lands him in jail - he commits a bit of revenge arson, and unexpectedly, some gangsters die in the fire. When In-Ha comes out of prison, something in him has permanently broken, but whatever changes there are, once he meets So Yeon again, it is clear his feelings for her remain the same. The OTP is epic - neither can live without the other yet they are each other's worst luck. But oh, they cannot stay away. LBH is great at portraying really masculine men who, nontheless, are utterly consumed and destroyed by love - the way he looks at SHK makes me want to turn away, it is that intimate. Whenever they are together, it is always a little as if he cannot believe his luck. SHK is gorgeous and warm and fun and looks so in love you just want to drink it in.

And thus we enter into the world of All In - broken yet tough men, strong women (there are three main lady characters who are all awesome - So Yeon is ladylike but remarkably common-sense, strong and resilient, and there are two secondary girls who are awesome - one is a businesswoman with an occasional yen for the secondary guy and another is a tough bar girl who is in love with In Ha, but who, when she realizes In Ha will never love her back - shockingly moves on and gets an OTP of her own. Woohoo!)

Anyway - here are some caps from ep 13, one of the spells of happiness the OTP is allowed in the sturm-and-drang of the story.

Bet they didn't teach that one in the nunnery )

Let's leave them there to enjoy themselves, poor woobies - as In Ha is currently employed as a bit of rough work for a big mobster, clearly their future sailing ain't gonna be smooth.

I just realized that So Yeon's Nun Name is Angela - same as Minam's character's Nun Name in You're Beautiful. LOLOLOL Such a contrast between the two. I have a suspicion Tae Kyung would actually need to buy a guide to birds and bees for Minam if he ever wants to get down to business :)

Instead of doing various productive things with my time because I woke up a good hour before I had to, I decided to use up the freak occurrence by, what else, rewatching bits of Worlds Within. This obsession must stop :D

Being a generous soul, I have decided to share some of the resulting screencaps. It's their first night together and it starts out a teeny bit awkward ('do I offer him clothes to change into?' 'how do I start' etc) but as soon as there is physical contact it moves into pure hot very soon.

I am sure I could have capped even more open-mouth action but there are only so many times I can rewatch Hyun Bin and Song Hye Kyo make out in a loop and claim it's for research without losing my last shred of dignity :D I want to see MOAR!!!

Have fun. They certainly are )

I keep being obsessed with Worlds Within. Obsessed to a ridiculous degree. It is driving me crazy there is no more of these characters to be seen. I keep thinking about what is going to happen to all these characters in the future. I know kdramas almost never have sequels and, in any event, WW did abysmally in the ratings so it would never happen but I love these characters so much I do not want to let them go.

I want to see Ji Oh and Joon Young continue loving each other and working - I want to see how they adjust to living together with the million little differences every couple has (he is neat, she is not so neat, sometimes she feels too little and sometimes he feels too much). I'd love to see them cope with parenthood (they are totally going to have at least one kid - they were already bartering and hashing out the details). She is going to panic then adjust and he will glee throughout but also totally freak. I want to see them cope, in a matter-of-fact way, with the limitations imposed by his serious and chronic (but thankfully not life-threatening) illness. I want to see Joon Young reconcile with her father. I want to see their wedding and how on earth Ji Oh's rustic parents and Joon Young's high society mother are going to interact (and if Joon Young's father comes). Everyone can get drunk together at the party!

I want to see all the behind-the-scenes nuttiness experienced by Kyu-Ho's family of sick political vampires due to the wedding and Daddy's eternal campaigns. The media frenzy and Kyu-Ho's little brother finally going off to Prague and Kyu-Ho's father being publically supportive and in private there being no interaction between them at all. And then Kyu-Ho and Hae-Jin working on their new drama and the staff being alternately worried he will be too biased/give too much slack to Hae-Jin and hopeful that his new happiness will make him less caustic of tongue and laid-back, and being surprisingly unsurprised when neither happens. Oh, and they can try to sneak out on dates and it not working so well because she is pestered by fangirls.

I want to see Kyu-Ho and Ji Oh continue their really bizarre friendship and Soo Kyung getting more and more competent and Joon Young and Writer Lee getting drunk together on a girls' night out (and Writer Lee continuing her mad genius self). The older character acresses will continue their eternal bickering friendship and picking/helping Soo Kyung. The awesome female assistant PD goes into shock when one of her crushes likes her back and has no idea what to do and whether to actually pursue this or not.

I would love to watch Yun Yung and Min Chul continue their semi-dependent, semi-independent relationship and their attempts to reconcile his daughter to it. Maybe Yun Yung's daughter can come back from the States and she and Min Chul's daughter can form an uneasy alliance. Yun Yung would also slowly try to rebuild her company.

I just - I never want to let these characters go. I could be happy just watching an episode which consisted of just following Joon Young and Ji Oh around for a weekend. All these people feel real and so I feel abruptly deprived of company of people that I seem to know and have grown to love.

I know this is insane, but since I finished WW, instead of a new drama, I am starting a rewatch.

I have NEVER fallen in love with a drama in such a way. Never even close.

And not really related, but since I don't like posts without pictures, have this gorgeous shot of Song Hye Kyo.

Wow.

I really hope somebody reads this because it literally took me hours.

I spent the evening watching Worlds Within. I have finished it, and it's official - it is my most favorite drama of all time, and my favorite show from anywhere of all time, except for Farscape.

I think I won't be watching drama for a few days at least because nothing will compare to this in any way.

And now for very lengthy liveblog of eps 14-16, with some caps )

I have over 2600 caps for the last few eps so it will take me time to sort them but I should and then expect a giant picspam.

OT: I loooove my Spyware Doctor. Best $35 I ever spent. It just detected and got rid of a rather nasty virus which was making my internet not work at all and for such an internet addict as I am, that was a nightmare :) Thank you, Spyware Doctor!

In hunting for more Worlds Within stuff I came across this picture of Hyun Bin and Song Hye Kyo, presumably promoting WW:

I can only appreciate their immense dedication to their craft - surely it is to indicate his character's vision issues that Hyun Bin dressed into a three-piece suit with a long t-shirt underneath and a thick, half-tied tie over a bare throat. And surely it's to convey her character's turmoil that Song Hye Kyo decided to look like a multi-colored baloon. Also, it is kind of them to inspire us to frugality by skimping on material where material should normally be - "who needs a collar?" asks Hyun Bin, "and a skirt that does not look cut-off" adds Hye Kyo. After all, we are in dire economic times.

Let me put it this way - any outfit that makes Song Hye Kyo look fat is one that has no business to exist. It's kind of Hyun Bin to dress like a drug-addled hobo who stole from a fancy store at night, in order to make Hye Kyo's horrific outfit pale into isignificance.

Honestly, if anyone could have pulled off something this horrific, the two of them would have. The fact that they can't, means no human has business wearing that.

ETA: On a dangerously-veering-into-pathetic territory, they are holding hands! Awwww.

Yes, am still fixating on Worlds Within.

1. I really really loved the bit with Kyu-Ho and Joon Young when the latter gets sick on-set. She's been working crazy hours, is coming down with something, and Ji Oh dumping her in such a brutal fashion out of nowhere is not contributing to her wellbeing either. So she is clearly not well. And Kyu-Ho is all "pros don't get sick when they work" and then orders her home and when she refuses, makes someone drive her. AWWWWW. I love Kyu-Ho because he is both a bastard and because he's adorable with a heart despite his cynical hard-nosed manner. It's kinda an awesome combination.

2. If there is one thing I am going to take away from Worlds Within, it's the firm conviction that whoever wants to work for drama production in any capacity is STARK RAVING MAD and should be locked up. These are worse hours than a surgeon's and not as nice working conditions, either.

3. This:

Ji Oh might be full of misery and what not but anyone who makes Joon Young look like this freaking DESERVES to suffer. Team Joon Young! Go go go!!! Yes, I understand why Ji Oh is acting out and am very sympathetic - his life as he knows it is over - his career and his disease are completely incompatible and it's a pretty limiting and even crippling illness, but I still feel so very horrible for Joon Young - maybe because I can understand her so well - it used to be my greatest fear, to open your heart to someone, to learn to be dependent on him and need him, and make yourself vulnerable, only for him to hurt you in return. As I commented to [livejournal.com profile] popaddict, if something like this (i.e. WW-type stuff) happened to me, I'd still love the guy and take him back and forgive him, but it would take a LONG time for me to fully trust him again and trust in the permanence of my happiness.

3a. On a semi-related and very shallow note, Ji Oh looks so yummilicious when he angsts...Even if I do want to twist his idiotic head off.

4. I really like the somewhat looping, non-linear structure of WW. For example, ep 12 reloops the same day three times, from new p.o.vs - as you see Joon Young falling apart in front of Ji Oh's closed door when he walked so unaffectedly by. And then later you see the day from Ji Oh's POV and he is falling apart just as badly on the other side of that same door. Loved it.

5. The chemistry continues out of this world, as in this flashback to happier times:
