Oh MAN. Perect timing. I've gotten interested in a show, just in time for a strike.
I think I've been persuaded to watch Moonlight. The vampire detective, who falls for a human, seems to be the selling point.
Even if Forever Knight, Buffy and Angel have already done this, I am such an easy sell. Just check this one for why. Angst, UST, super hotness, co-ed showers:

Admittedly, I was a fan of the books first, so I'm a little biased. :) (Plus, all the episodes for the first full season are already in the can, they're just waiting to be aired~) But UST? Check. Hot actors? Oh god check. Amusing dialogue and cheese, with just enough drama and pathos at the right times? Check. People getting hurt and comforted? Oh yes.

On top of it, I just adore that in real life she is much older than one of her love interests (like 10 years or so?) and it's exactly no issue at all (well on screen it's not anyway, because he's a vampire) and they just sparkle.

Date: 2007-11-15 08:49 am (UTC)Not on Moonlight. Most recent episoded sort of went into explaining this whole history with Mick's ex-wife and all I did was sit there are go "Not enough Beth".
It wasn't a badly written episode or anything. And I guess maybe it's good for the Mick angst and freakout value. But yeah... *blinks*
It fascinates me how much I find Mick. Because I actually don't think that he is that beautiful on a pure face level. But wow, when he's animated, he's just so hot and cute and animated.
It amuses me that even the official CBS web administrator who share CBS material on youtube make MickBeth videos. :D

Date: 2007-11-15 01:58 pm (UTC)Re: triangles (upthread). I am not keen on them, mainly because it makes me annoyed with the person in the center. A little confusion and choosing is understandable, I suppose, but pick one! If you can't decide, means you don't really want either.

Date: 2007-11-15 04:58 pm (UTC)For me, she is a really cool female character. Something just rings true to me about her. I remember, when I saw the show for the first time (BTW, if you ever decide to watch Blood Ties after all, IGNORE the pilot; it's probably the weakest episode of all of them), my first reaction was "I bet this was written by a woman (but in a good way)". I was quite shocked when I read that they have a male headwriter. And then I finally found out that the whole show is based on a book series by a female writer, so I felt vindicated :D
Btw, the best Blood Ties episode is the one where she keeps reliving a certain day. The main actress did an amazing job with it for my taste. Plus, that scenario can always be milked because you can show somebody being killed off and everybody's reaction to it, but it can be undone.

Date: 2007-11-16 10:20 am (UTC)I lurve it. Many people compare it to Angel but I don't see too much of resemblance. (apart of "Vampire PI" thing). For me "Moonlight" is American TV picking a concept of Asian dramas. It is not at all about plot or any such things but about cheese, angst, romance and beautiful people. Let's face it - I can't resist it at all.. I am not even watching any dramas at the moment - I am so overloaded on this that my cheesy/angsty side is completely satisfied.
