Oh MAN. Perect timing. I've gotten interested in a show, just in time for a strike.

I think I've been persuaded to watch Moonlight. The vampire detective, who falls for a human, seems to be the selling point.

Even if Forever Knight, Buffy and Angel have already done this, I am such an easy sell. Just check this one for why. Angst, UST, super hotness, co-ed showers:

You are so going to fall for Moonlight it's not even funny.

Are you kidding? The whole set-up screams 'melodrama' and so I am doomed to love it.

I have unfortunately gotten sucked into watching the show. Terribly melodramatic and cheesy and just so incredibly bad that it's good. A terribly guilty pleasure of mine and it doesn't hurt that Alex O'Loughlin is pretty hot.

I love cheesy melodrama. Half this LJ is dedicated to it after all. This is so irresistable, pushes all my buttons.

Heh. I lasted one episode, but it might have been the combo with Twilight producing some sort of cheese time-space continuum overload.

I unashamedly love angsty mushy cheese. Biting optional. So this looks awesome.

Ahahah. As far as (currently airing) vampires and detectives go, I find myself much more drawn to Blood Ties--ex-cop-turned-PI with Issues solves supernatural crime with her former partner on the force and the vampiric bastard son of Henry VIII, now moonlighting as a comic artist. :D Most of the online fans' love seems to be for Vicki and Henry (the vampire), and they are indeed pretty hot:

But Mike, the other leg of the (main) triangle, is also pretty hot in very different ways, personality- and chemistry-wise. XD

Admittedly, I was a fan of the books first, so I'm a little biased. :) (Plus, all the episodes for the first full season are already in the can, they're just waiting to be aired~) But UST? Check. Hot actors? Oh god check. Amusing dialogue and cheese, with just enough drama and pathos at the right times? Check. People getting hurt and comforted? Oh yes.

I looooove me some Blood Ties. Production values poorer than Moonlight, but the character writing is much sharper. However I like both.

And there's the factor that Moonlight is basically one big triangle where she is deeply connected to both the guys. Which is fine with me because I actually like triangles such as this where no one guy is written as the bad guy.

On top of it, I just adore that in real life she is much older than one of her love interests (like 10 years or so?) and it's exactly no issue at all (well on screen it's not anyway, because he's a vampire) and they just sparkle.

Hahaha, oh yes. I definitely do not watch it for the special effects or the fight scenes. The main three have /such/ chemistry together, though--even the two male leads. I love that they're slowly starting to accept the presence of each other in Vicki's life, even if they're not quite happy with it. But yeah, both of them are written deeply and believably enough that you can see Vicki ending up with either of them. (I know who I prefer, but that's mostly because of how the books go.)

I hate you, you realize this? I now need to watch this! Must.

Two vampie shows? I am doomed :)

You remember how I'm one of those annoying people who seems to get a unnatural kick out of rooting for or enjoying whatever hated "other people" come between the OTP? Kinda like Tess on Roswell when she was introduced?

Not on Moonlight. Most recent episoded sort of went into explaining this whole history with Mick's ex-wife and all I did was sit there are go "Not enough Beth".

It wasn't a badly written episode or anything. And I guess maybe it's good for the Mick angst and freakout value. But yeah... *blinks*

It fascinates me how much I find Mick. Because I actually don't think that he is that beautiful on a pure face level. But wow, when he's animated, he's just so hot and cute and animated.

It amuses me that even the official CBS web administrator who share CBS material on youtube make MickBeth videos. :D

Heeeee. I am very curious to check it out now, to see what show got you to like the 'official' couple.

Re: triangles (upthread). I am not keen on them, mainly because it makes me annoyed with the person in the center. A little confusion and choosing is understandable, I suppose, but pick one! If you can't decide, means you don't really want either.

Supposedly in the original version of Blood Ties she has lots of sex with both of them. In the tv version she has sex with neither. I guess it's a better triangle version than normal because both want her and she pretty much tells both of them no. One is the sexy young looking vampire and she tells him no, well, because he's a vampire. The other one is her ex-partner and I think they used to have a relationship once and now they are sorta still friends. So there might be still old feelings between them, but it's not like she really wants to be with him anymore.

For me, she is a really cool female character. Something just rings true to me about her. I remember, when I saw the show for the first time (BTW, if you ever decide to watch Blood Ties after all, IGNORE the pilot; it's probably the weakest episode of all of them), my first reaction was "I bet this was written by a woman (but in a good way)". I was quite shocked when I read that they have a male headwriter. And then I finally found out that the whole show is based on a book series by a female writer, so I felt vindicated :D

Btw, the best Blood Ties episode is the one where she keeps reliving a certain day. The main actress did an amazing job with it for my taste. Plus, that scenario can always be milked because you can show somebody being killed off and everybody's reaction to it, but it can be undone.

I lurve it. Many people compare it to Angel but I don't see too much of resemblance. (apart of "Vampire PI" thing). For me "Moonlight" is American TV picking a concept of Asian dramas. It is not at all about plot or any such things but about cheese, angst, romance and beautiful people. Let's face it - I can't resist it at all.. I am not even watching any dramas at the moment - I am so overloaded on this that my cheesy/angsty side is completely satisfied.
