Favorite sizzling Bollywood moments
Jun. 13th, 2005 01:28 pmNow, most Bollywood movies are known for their sensual restraint. Most of them have no kissing, and I have yet to see a movie with nudity. Yet, despite that (or perhaps even because of it), Bollywood movies have some of the sexiest, most temperature-raising moments ever put on screen.
I am going to list my Top 10, but would love for fellow BW-lovers on my list to add any (or disagree). These aren't necessarily the most explicit scenes or even the hottest, as I have listed here the ones I subjectively like. This means in movies I like, with actors I like, and romantic (Yuva had sizzling scenes but the Rani-Abhi relationship was way too disfunctional to end on this list). Also, I'm not listing any movie more than once. To everyone else on my flist, who couldn't care less about Bollywood, I'm seeing ROTS again tonight and will have more SW commentary tomorrow.
So, without further ado, here are mine:
1 Shahrukh Khan and Kajol's rain-drenched dance in the gazebo in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Are they friends? Lovers? Something in between? I don't think even they know when they hide in a lighted gazebo during a storm and he kneels, dressed in black, dripping wet, and extends his hand asking her (wearing deep red and also soaked) for a waltz. And as they dance, it becomes something else entirely.
2 Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee's "morning after the wedding" in Bunty aur Babli. She might have passed out from wine on the wedding night, but when she wakes sleeping Abhishek and asks him to "marry" her and they start kissing, as the screen dissolves into one of the most sensuous picturizations I've ever seen (her wearing nothing but his vest, as silouettes making love in the car, being pushed against the wall), I was surprised the celluloid didn't melt.
3 John Abraham and Udita Goswami in Udita's fantasy of making love in Paap. She pictures him coming into her kitchen where she is cooking, and soon she is smearing him with flour, the pots are falling from the table and I am staring in shock. Hot!!!!
4 Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan's wedding in Parineeta. One sentence: they didn't cut away into a song! I have never thought seeing merely people's faces in close-up and a glimpse of a back could be so hot. The whole thing was both sizzling and deeply romantic. I was a puddle of goo on the floor.
5 Shahrukh Khan teaching Kareena Kapoor swordfighting in Asoka. I can't explain it. But go watch it. *hyperventilates*
6 Salman Khan and Manisha Koirala in Khamoshi having make-up sex (outside of marriage, too) in a lighthouse. Grrrrrrrr....
7 Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor during the song Mere Humsafar in Refugee. There is a reason she gives birth by the end of the film. Hot, hot, hot!
8 Shahrukh Khan and Kajol during the song Suraj Hua Maddam in Kabhi Khushi Kabie Gham. I am not the movie's biggest fan, but any flick that has the two of them in the sand, and his kissing her prone, soaked in the stream body gets high marks.
9 Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta in Veer Zaara. As she imagines him everywhere, one of her fantasies is especially vivid: his coming into her room at night and removing most of her garments before carrying her to bed. If I had to endure being married to Manoj, I'd fantasize too.
10 John Abraham and Lara Dutta cavorting in a waterfall in Elaan. I wonder why I usually forward to this part :)
