Had a very long day today, saw fjords and other places of unimaginable (almost) beauty but I am brain dead so about it later.

For now: BASARA!!!!!!

I had through volume 6 and finished those on the train. I confess through volume 3 I was rather disgruntled. Is this what the fuss is about? I didnæt like the art style, I mildly liked Sarasa and Ageha and wanted to drown everyone else, Shuri included, which considering he is the male protagonist, is a problem.

But somehow, with volume 4 it all clicked for me and now I love it and want to get more. I still find the artwork rather rough, and wish the story had less fighting and beards. BUT. It's interesting, a lot, and I love Shuri as a character (though would want to stay far away from him) and Sarasa and the two of them together and can't wait until they find out the truth. Yeah, I got proper meta later.

Also, spoiled self for ending of Dog/Wolf and yay. YAY. Awesome. alexandral, you will love it.

That was pretty much me exactly when I started reading Basara, which was soon after i started reading manga) Interesting story, liked Sarasa and Ageha, Shuri was interesting but I didn't quite like him(and yes, despite my deep love for the character, I would NEVER want to be near him in RL...unless Sarasa was there too...) then Shido's death, what led up to it(much interesting stuff w/ Senju later...I love her relationship w/ Ageha) and the aftermath, and it just clicked and went way up for me, and then stuff around vol 8-9(which the icon is from) just made me go nuts for it.

On the Shuri front, a large, large part of it is that Shuri was well on his way to becoming a completely amoral villain. He had 2 people he looked to for support and guidance-Shido and Kazan-and both would support him in whatever he did, good or evil, out of loyalty rather than steer him on the right path. Then along comes Sarasa, and all that is completely derailed, and he goes from someone who likely would have been the greatest tyrant and dictor ever to what will probably be the greatest king post-apocalyptic Japan could have(or something along those lines...I know very generics about the end, but not if he and Sarasa rule)

There are more and more characters w/out beards as the story progresses, and you either get used to the art, or it gets better...I don't know which it is but I like it at this point.

And if you don't like Cha Cha and Zaki I will spiral into unknown depths of depression.

OK, for the last few days I have been having the most bizzare wish to make a manga and/or anime out of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight trilogy.
It would have been perfect, very teen and angsty, plus nobody would have argued if the male lead was hot enough to be a vampire.
