dangermousieI have gone insane. I am staying past 3am, looking for shippy vids for a couple for which I haven't even seen the drama yet, Vladimir/Anna in Bednaya Nastya. OMG.
But they are gorgeous, and have chemistry, and grew up together and he was resentful because his dad liked her and not him, and she is a serf and he is a nobleman, so it can't be but he is mad for her and she isn't sure and OMG so much repression and passion and HOTNESS.
And if this wasn't enough, this clip killed me. This is the clip of our heroine going into hero's bedroom to prevent him from fighting duel with his best friend. Oddly, with Finnish subtitles. LOL, very self-sacrificial of her. Need to find hotties willing to fight duels for me and then sneak into their bedrooms :)
OMG, 'he is SO HOT' is the only coherent thought left to me.
In case you don't speak Finnish or Russian, the dialogue goes as follows:
Him: Am I dreaming? Why did you come? It's not as if you love me. I know that, so why sacrifice your honor [by coming to his bedroom at night and half stripping, I assume. I wanna sacrifice now! :P]. I am afraid that the payment you'd be making is too much.
She: *sits on bed*
He: What do you want in exhange for this night? [Heeee, definitely weakening resistance. Girl, I hope you brought not-yet-invented birth control]
She: Refuse to fight the duel.
He: You want me to refuse to fight? Are you really that concerned about me living? I am very touched but don't worry.
She: Vladimir, but you might get crippled and lose your friend.
He: I don't want to kill anyone, and even less to die myself. But what can I do, there is no way out.
She: Yes, there is.
He: Who are you more concerned about?
She: Both of you. You won't be able to fire at each other.
He: Why not? I am ready to fire.
She: There won't be a duel. And there won't be jealousy, either. I promise. [I'd feel sorrier for you if he wasn't so HOT and you didn't have a thing for him. Not much of a sacrifice :P]
He: Michael won't leave you.
She: He will. As soon as he finds out we are together. I'll tell him we are. He'll believe me. I'll be with you, for the rest of my life. Until you tell me to leave.
He: If you knew how much I dreamed of hearing you say these words.
She: You don't believe me?
He: (after shrugging) How can I know that being with me, you won't think about Michael [Young man, she is gorgeous. You are mad for her. She is in a FREAKING nightgown in your room at night, offering herself for keeps. Seriously, stop quibbling. If she thinks of someone else, that's more than you get otherwise, huh, oh-tortured-romance-hero!]
He: All my life. All my life belongs only to you. Only if you would be near [Note: through this whole conversation he has been using the formal/proper form of 'you' ('vy') but with that last phrase he switched to the intimate 'ty'. *swooooooooon*]
*smoochies, and then he gently puts her aside*
She: What else (can you want)? I came to you myself.
He: I want to hear words from you.
She: Which words?
He: Do you love me? [awwwwwww] Tell me, do you love me? Please tell me.
She: *is silent*
He: *releases her gently* Please leave. [OMG I am dead]
*she walks off*
He: Leave. The duel is going to go on in two days, as we planned.
Hell, I watch dramas from every other country, why not those in my native tongue?

I really miss not being able to sweet-talk to Andrew in Russian. I just find it a lot more flexible as a language, if it makes sense, in shades of endearments/meanings. Less words though.

Date: 2007-08-26 08:46 am (UTC)I was persuaded by many ESL-ers in China that English isn't hard to learn, per se, but it is a bitch to master. Apparently it has the biggest vocab bank, and it just keeps growing. They were like, "can you bitches freakin' slow down, please?"
Especially when it came to slang. They were all, can we say this word? And I'd have to go into yeah, sure, but only if you were being ironic since that word hasn't really been popular since 1985, though it was resurrected into hipster cool since the conflagaration of blah blah blah. And then they would beat me in a rage. An ESL rage.
