My Why Why Love continues...

You know what I really like? This drama has hilarious OTT moments, but it also (unlike most cracky dramas) has a rather desperate heart: Jia Di is under a horribly crushing burden of her useless family, on the edge of ruin, forgetting to dream. And Huo Da's sweetly earnest attitude to secondary girl, and his fear of rejection, and his conflict with his Dad, also ring true.

How come this only gets better and better?


Much like my hate for secondary girl gets stronger and stronger. She makes the secondary girl in Full House (whom she really resembles character-wise) seem like a saint. The scene where she goes to Huo Yan (during work hours, because she can't wait, because she is pissed Huo Da has someone else, even though she doesn't want him herself) and tries to do the whole 'your little brother doesn't want to move back home not because his family is psycho but because he has a gf, shouldn't you break it up, nah, I am only concerned for his sake' is just. STAB STAB STAB. I love how Huo Yan sees through her though, so easily. Take that, twit! Seriously, it would be one thing if she liked Huo Da herself. Not praiseworthy, but understandable. But she only likes the feeling of ownership, of ego-stroking.

You know, proof positive that OTP is meant to be together: they are really engaged with each other. Yeah, half the time it's bickering, but they also feel at ease and laugh with each other, while Huo Da is only miserable in YS' presence and Jia Di is on her best behavior with Huo Yan. The whole set-up really reminds me, a tiny bit, of Peach Girl (the awesome anime and manga, not horrid live action). There, the heroine likes the strong, silent type, who is totally a good guy (and there is no question Huo Yan is the best of good guys) but ends up with her goof-ball best friend instead, because it's someone she is really friends with, and who helps her, and with whom she is totally at ease (maybe because she never thought she'd fall for him so she never tried to 'not put a foot wrong'). And that's the thing, the OTP are becoming friends. And also, it's sort of like in Coffee Prince or Hana Yori Dango. The guy who is not her OTP might be awesome but there is a maturity level disparity. Jia Di is such a baby in so many ways, and so is Huo Da. Huo Yan, however, is all grown up.

Episode four has such funniness and such sweetness! I love the scene where she finds out she has nowhere to go, because of loan sharks, and she faces a prospect of sleeping outside, on the swings, and then some drunk guy attacks her and chases after her and she is running away, and Huo Da (coming back from the liquor store) sees her, and he is preparing to come to her aid, but then she turns, and she is super grumpy (and still haven't seen him) and is all 'I haven't eaten all day, got accused of being a thief, cut my leg, etc etc I am not running any more' and attacks the bad guy. And Huo Da is totally grinning at her pluck, and he is all 'that is not how you hit with a bottle, this is how you do it' and as she sees him, knocks the guy out. And then he teases her she is some sort of King Kong :P

And then (because he overheard she has nowhere to go), he pretends that he wants her to go to his house to clean up because it's messy and she's supposed to clean up under their contract, but he makes his guy friends take all the junk so it's totally clean and she sits there, and it dawns on her that maybe, just maybe, he asked her to come not to clean but because he knew she had nowhere to go and wanted to help. But she can't presume, so she gets up and is all 'it's all clean, I am going to go now' and he pulls out bunches of food from the fridge and is all 'that is not clean, you have to clean it all up by eating it' because of course he heard she had no dinner. And she is grinning and relieved and there is adorableness.

And then they both get wasted and eeeeee. So funny and cute and they are getting along swimmingly (yeah I know :D) and OMG, he kisses her. EEEEEE! And then morning after funniness follows. And he remembers the kiss but she doesn't ;) And so adorable, he actually goes to a store in his wheelchair to punish her by...buying her a toothbrush, and games and lots of food. LOL. (And I love how he is rationalizing...'all these snacks are for ME, not for HER.' Yeah, yeah, yeah).

I've never really watched any TW dramas in a long time! I've seen Mars, Meteor Garden, Devil Beside you and Oh man..I cant recall the name of the other..Love Contract? ...but after looking at these caps...I'm a little tempted to start watching again!!

gyeah...I really dislike Rainie's hair in this...it's like that wa the sacrifice to give Mike better hair...maybe it looks better in motion.

I think her hair has been equally horrible in everything I've seen her in (MG, this, DBY) so I don't even notice any more, except a passing urge, now and then, to chase after her with scissors and do something about her bangs.

Re: Kingone. More picspam coming, but as I said, I am generally a Mike He girl. But damn if Kingone isn't making it difficult to hold on to that resolution!

The long, gitlish hair she always hs doesn't suit her face...it diid look good in Liao Zhai in the more traditional lady look. But this hair(and it's not made to sound mean to Rainie) gives the impression of a cheap plastic doll (hopefully you know the kind I'm talking about)
