Two episodes in, and I am madly in love with Lovers, a completely awesome Korean drama about a mobster (Lee Seo Jin) and a plastic surgeon (Kim Jung Eun) who meet and eventually fall in love after she ends up sewing him up when he is stabbed in one of the gang-in-fights.

One of the things I love, in addition to the incredible chemistry between LSJ and Kim Jung Eun is that the lead characters are older than a lot of usual dorama teenagers/early 20-somethings, and it shows in their interactions and personalities.

These people (in their mid thirties, I think) have in a lot of ways come to terms with what they are and are not, and it's incredibly attractive.

KJE is wonderful, continuing the thing of my finding most kdrama actresses irresistable. She is a wonderful mix of wacky and vulnerable, pragmatic and hidden idealist. She is tempted by a gorgeous dress but ends up returning it because she can't afford it. She is a preacher's daughter who does plastic surgery because she needs the money but still feels a bit off about recommending it to people who clearly do not need it.

When she ends up saving LSJ (long story) she is abrupt but not cranky. She is no nonsense but still charming. I adore her. Oh, and the scene where she orders LSJ to drop trou so she can give him a shot lucky woman is hilarious and adorable. Her attitude is all 'yeah, mob boss blah blah, I operated on you, behave.' Heh.

And then there is Lee Seo Jin. I have only previously seen him in the awesome period drama Damo where he played Commander Hwangbo Yoon who won my heart despite having a bizarro hat and beard. Actually I got Lovers because I wanted to see him in something else. And even though he doesn't weild a sword here, he is clean-shaven, hatless, and (best of all) still incredibly intense and charming at the same time, in a somewhat reserved way. Makes one want to tear off that reserve :D. There is a hidden vulnerability in him and remnants of innocence that are just totally huggable. You just want to save him.

I honestly have no idea if he is objectively good-looking or not because he is so attractive, if it makes any sense. And oh-so-incredibly-masculine. Oh boy. I better stop the scary levels of fangirling.

Oh, and the secondary characters are all wonderful.

I love it.

This is the drama that has the really famous kissing scene. Can't wait to get to it.

IMO, LSJ's face is too strong and masculine to be conventionally handsome, but the masculinity and intensity make him devastatingly attractive.

BTW-Shadowless Sword: no beard, just a bit of scruff, long hair, no hat, sword.

Ooh, this looks very interesting. I'm about to start watching "Why Why Love", so in between my weekly fixes of that and "Proposal Daisakusen", I'm contemplating starting an already completed, subbed series. And kissing in dramas is always a good thing! ♥

This is really really good (at least 4 eps in) and I highly recommend.

And kissing=happy me. There is also a *gasp* bed scene.

Mmm, semi-realistic adult characters in interesting romance with kissing. Sounds excellent - though I won't be checking it out anytime soon, as I should finish Que Sera Sera before that. And QSS rather fits the definition I mentioned, though what it lacks "famous kissing scene" (none of the kissing scenes are 'famous' per se) it makes up for with "Eric Mun kissing people" (seriously, Eric Mun could kiss a gargoyle and make it look hot).

So basically my point is: kdrama kissing. YAY.

I keep wondering if the DVDs you see around of the dramas that just finished are any good. I might want to buy QSS eventually but I'd need reasonably good subs...

Barring a miracle, those subs aren't good. Trust me. I learned the hard way.
