Am in the middle of episode 7 of Worlds Within - guuuuuh, how does it get more perfect with every episode. It's official, this is my favorite drama of all time. That's right, folks - it's better than Legend, better than Pride, better than Mars, better than...in my estimation.

One of the things I love so much is how any conflict feels real - Joon Young's Mom, e.g. is shallow and money-and-status obsessed but it's in a very realistic way (her warning not to date Ji Oh if he has no money, her interest if he has status) not a usual OTT drama way. Or take Ji Oh and Joon Young's building conflict about their different backgrounds - it's no BOF craziness but the fact that he feels somewhat inferior because she is clearly from such an upperclass wealthy family when he is nothing of the sort, but also because their different backgrounds lead to rather different takes on life - see their different attitudes toward money. It's all wonderfully relatable stuff.
And the OTP! Oh, the OTP! Their moments are so there and their chemistry is ridiculously insane. I think what kills me the most is the way he looks at her when she does not notice - he is utterly besotted. GUUUUH.
Joon Young's Mom hones in on Ji Oh right away - she can tell Joon Young's excuse of a coworker who was helping her out is not very convincing.

Poor Ji Oh is adorably flustered:

And JY has another fight with her mother. Oh, and Mom wants to know if Ji Oh is loaded.

Most awkward meal ever, with Mom discussing gambling non-stop.

Finally she gets so pissed-off she leaves and Ji Oh bolts after her. She asks him to leave her alone because she is so embarassed to have someone she likes to see her Mom is like this. They both have their insecurities, don't they?

Our no-nonsense star director is slowly but surely falling for the unknown soon-to-be star of his period drama. Nobody else can make him smile like that - the pragmatism gets all cloaked. I think the reason he likes her so much (in addition to her wonderfully sunny, forthright personality) is that she is an incredibly hard worker and he respects that - he clearly values hard work immensely (in part probably due to the hinted family history).

This is here because Hyun Bin is ridiculously hot:

Oh God, I love them - by the way a certain unworldliness she has is very much explained now that we know she is a rich girl - I think that did create a cocoon of sorts. While of course he's had to be pragmatic. And I wonder how much of his really good peace-making skills come from having to deal with his parents with the father always picking on the mother. I love how every character is shaped by their environment but in subtle ways.

My idea of a perfect day (they salvage their weekend):

She is all "it's dirty, let's clean" and the neat-freak Ji Oh enthusiastically agrees - only her idea of cleaning is to rub her body randomly all over the floor using her sweatshirt like a mop. I have a revelation: SHE IS ME.

He is "ooooh, there is a bit of garbage, I must start by removing it" and does the below. I melt about ten different ways.

He is vacuuming the kitchen and she sits on his back and gives him directions. MY IDEAL MAN IS RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF MY EYES - I WANT TO BE HER. Oh, and she steals one of his baby pictures. AWWW.

And then she wants him to brush her teeth for her. He is all "you want the weirdest things" and she retorts that other men offer sun and moon and she just asks for little things. Heee:

The really fun part of the evening :P

But afterwards, while she is asleep, you see the first stirrings of inferiority and doubt in him - he remembers that lunch with her Mom and Mom's buddy and buddy mentioning that Joon Young owns two ten-story buildings in Seoul. He is clearly very much not in the same league - he has a good job but that is it - nowhere near her level.

It's confirmed by his later talking to the Chief (who does not understand what this is about) and wondering how much two 10-story buildings are worth and wishing they didn't exist. And it's interesting, because Joon Young would never think to bring up her money or think it makes her superior but the issue is still there. Probably even more so in the traditional, socially and gender-role-wise, Korea.

This scene, with the star mourning her mother, actually made me cry.

Previews for ep 7:

They are so stylish here, in ep 7:

She keeps discussing problems with her Mother but everything she says does show the difference between them - the way she casually shrugs off his saying he had to use half his pension to buy a machine for his Dad, etc.

So they have a little fight:

But of course they reconcile - it's not like the dramaworld, as the voiceover says, where conflict is necessary for continuing. In rl you do not want that especially since, unlike with a drama, a reconciliation is not assured after a conflict.

Meanwhile, the Director is filming an underwater kissing scene (like in Hong Gil Dong). She shows to him she will do it in one take. I shiiiiip.

So he watches her smooch the costar for an unnecessarily long time. Someone's not too pleased :P

But then after she is done, she is totally glowing with pleasure at a good take and giving him a sign that she managed to do it in one take (presumably that is why the extra-long smoochies):

EEEEE! I also love how he tries to get rid of the smile when he realizes his crew might be watching. He totally forgot about where he was for a bit :P

After the shot she is all "I am getting in your car, I wanna discuss the script." Oh, give in, Director guy - you know she will win totally and you want her to :P

The way he looks at her! (She is introducing him to her classmates).
