One of my reasons for loving the Indian film industry known as Bollywood is the incredible music and musical numbers in their movies. And guess what? I discovered so many of them on youtube. So to share the wealth and maybe to interest people in checking some out, I bring you some of my finds.

My favorite ever Bollywood picturization. Kajol and Shahrukh Khan steam up the screen in 'Suraj Hua Maddam' from Kabhi Khushi Kabie Gham, a sprawling family epic. Shahrukh is the adopted eldest son of a very rich, traditional family. Kajol is the madcap daughter of a poor guy. Can we say 'forbidden?' I adore the movie (though the first half more than the second), not the least because it has a great soundtrack. At the beginning of this, he confessed his feelings.

The only picturization that came close to displacing the above as my favorite song picturization. 'Mere Haath Mein' from the incredible Fanaa with Aamir Khan and Kajol. At the beginning she is blind girl on a briefvisit to Delhi and he is a devl-may-care tour guide. Though that is just the beginning and it's too good to spoil:

One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite movies. Shahrukh Khan and Priety Zinta in 'Main Yahan Hoon' from Veer-Zaara, a story of a star-crossed love between an Indian Air Force officer and a Pakistani aristocrat. Zaara is getting engaged to Manoj Bapaj but all she can think of is Veer and the girl has a heck of an imagination:

Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai turning up the heat in 'Dil Lagana' in the 'making me incredibly hormonal' Dhoom 2 (he is a master thief, and she is the fellow thief who was supposed to turn him in but fell for him instead. Right before this number he found out about her betrayal).

'Roshni Se' from Asoka. This song makes me cry. With Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Asoka is an incedible historical epic that I adore mainly for SRK's awesome performance as someone who descends to a monster and back. Oh, who am I kidding, it's the love story between Asoka and the proud Kaurwaki (Asoka calls her 'Kshatrani' which means 'My warrior'). Here he is mourning her as he believes she died:

Bollywood does its own take on student-teacher romance in the delicious Main Hoon Na about an undercover military officer pretending to be a second-career student in order to keep an eye on a general's daughter. He falls in love with the sexy chemistry teacher and has quite an imagination. Shahrukh Khan and Sushmita Sen sizzle in Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha:

Vidya Balan and Saif Ali Khan consummate their love in Parineeta, one of my favorite movies. They are next door neighbors and friends from childhood, though not of the same social station.

Aishwarya Rai in 'Crazy Kiya Re' in Dhoom 2:

Another awesome song with Kajol and Shahrukh Khan from Kabhi Khushi Kabie Gham: 'Yeh Ladki Hai Allah' (he shows up at the wedding of her friend. It's before SHM song).

'Yah Hum Aagaye' from Veer-Zaara with Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta:

Trippy, off-kilter 'Dil Se Re' from Mani Ratnam's masterpiece (IMO) Dil Se, arguably the best Bollywood movie I've seen. With Shahrukh Khan and Manisha Koirala. It's a movie about obsession, destruction and terrorism:

Title song from Kabhi Khushi Kabie Gham:

This is Shahukh Khan heavy. I make no excuses. Not only is he my favorite actor, period, he usually has the best movies with the best production values. It pays to be the biggest Bollywood star.

I love that all the of the movies (save for Parineeta) are SRK!starrers and some of my favorite Bollywood movies. :)

Have you seen Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna? "Suraj Hua Maddham" is was my favorite song picturization until I saw "Tumhi Dekho Naa" from KANK. And then I was like, "Ohmigod. *dies of the beauty of SRK and Rani*" ;) Oh and "Crazy Kiya Re" is currently like my favorite Bollywood song, period. ;)

Well, there are also D2 and Fanaa but yeah, most of these are SRK. The funny thing is I didn't do it on purpose. I randomly kept looking for my fave numbers and I looked at the list once I finished and most of them were his ;)

Crazy Kiya Re is addictive. It's stuck in my head like an earworm.

Re: KANK song. I love it, but I love SHM better. In part because I prefer Kajol to Rani. But yay for another KANK lover. That movie doesn't get enough love.

LOL The title song from K3G has German subs ... :)
Even though Ash is an incredible dancer I simply can't stand her. Even more so than Preity, though she is NOT a good dancer at all.

I like Aish on and off. Some movies I really like her in (D2 is one of those mainly because she has this incredible chemistry with Hrithik. Haven't seen anything like this since Salman and SRK days), some she walks through as this really pretty plastic doll. I like Preity too, though. My personal nightmare is what if one day SRK decides to costar with Esha Deol! I can't see him losing his mind to such an extent but you never know and I will be forced to sit through an Esha movie.

love love love all your selections except the D2 ones:D)!
YLHA is the song that made me set up, look , and pay attention to the man in the gorgeous traditional Indian clothes and the floppy hair, it will always be my favorite because I fell in love with the babe :D
- after that comes the two songs from VZ, i remember watching MYH for the first time, I literally stopped breathing, the song sizzles!, then YHGK, although I totally understood why it had to be removed from the film, but SRK never looked this hot and sexy, the part where he is wearing the white T-shirt makes my heart race every.single.time.
-TDN also is sweetness and beauty and love!!
- All the songs in Dil Se are a testament on the greatness that BW can reach, from Chaiyya Chaiyya, to Satrange Re, to Dil Se Re to my favorite( ecept for Priety Zinta dancing) Jiya Jale( I mean seriously...what could be more sexy than topless SRK around the elephants?:D)
-Asoka songs make me cry from the sheer beauty of them.
- I also have to add Khaike Paan from Don(2006)

YLHA is wonderful, isn't it? K3G wasn't my first or even my second SRK movie, but when he came on screen during that song, all I could do was imitate Kajol and do a double take. He looks so amazing in traditional clothes. And I love the joyful way he dances.

Oh, VZ. I love that movie so much. MYH is one of the most romantic picturizations ever, IMO. It's impossible for me to tear my eyes off the screen during it. And I think YHGK is amazing. I agree with you, I can see why they took it out, but it's one of the most romantic, swoony, gorgeous songs ever and he's never looked hotter. I think VZ was his last bona fide epic romance (at least for the time being though hopefully not forever, no one romances like SRK), but even if it turns out to be the last, what a way to go out of the genre!

-TDN also is sweetness and beauty and love!!

Oh yes. MHN was my first SRK movie in the theater and I remember wanting to look away from how incredibly hot he and the number were on the big screen.

Re: Khaike Paan. I was rewatching it this morning actually, prior to leaving the house. I love it. I love his look in Don, period. How is it possible for evil to look that good? He is so getting better with age, whoa.

I am going to post that and a bunch of other SRK songs (including Jiya Jale. OMG. I saw Dil Se on the big screen during a movie festival and I thought I was going to die at that point) and especially Gumshuda from Chalte Chalte. Love that song.

Guuuh, I just realized I have no SRK icons. Need to remedy it ASAP.

I pretty much love all of these! Mere Haath Mein hands down the prettiest picturization of 2006. Yeh Ladki Hai Allah, on the other hand, is to me the prettiest and most fun-to-watch SRK/Kajol picturization (I also love DDLJ songs but K3G looks better).

I rewatched Dhoom 2 a few days back and oh.my.god. There should be a rule Hrithik should always dance shirtless from now on. I think he's about the only actor who can pull it off and look absolutely amazing doing it. That man was just born to move, dammit.

MHM is really incredible. It's the only song that came close to SHM-gorgeousness-level-wise.

I don't know what my fave to watch SRK/Kadz picturization is. SHM probably because I like the hot angsty numbers. But YLHA is so contegeously fun. K3G had the best music (except for You are my Sonia where...pleather).

My D2 DVD is not here yet and I think I will gnaw off my arm waiting for it. I never thought anyone could look good dancing shirtless (well, Salman looked yummy in Oh Jaane Jaana in his movie with Kajol, but not this pure level of 'I am going to die of the hotness') Ahhh, the choreographer and his stroke of genius, I will love it forever.

Hrithik always amazes me. He is tall. And very buff. So the way he can move is just incredible because you'd think he wouldn't be able to be this fluid.

I love all your choices and they are all among my favourites as well (except for the Dhoom 2 ones, since I haven't yet seen the film :)).

Roshni Se is my favourite song picturisation ever.

You totally have to watch D2. It's delicious.

And I love Roshni Se. Asoka as a whole kills me, and Roshni Se is probably the best scene in it...

Oh Bollywood. If only there was less singing :D The dancing is usually great, though.
