Yup, still It Started with a Kiss

dangermousieEpisode 15 of it Started with a Kiss is totally wonderful.
I am in love.
So in love. I love this drama almost as much as Qiang Xin loves Zhi Shu.
It's interesting, but Zhi Shu matured a lot because of living on his own, and figuring out what he wants to in life, hasn't he? Of course another factor is he is getting older. Both XQ and ZS are more mature, as it's been over two years since the love letter at the beginning of ep 1.
But yeah, he's really grown up, hasn't he? In the scene where he tells Zi Yu he doesn't like her as anything other than a friend, he is just lovely. As lovely and kind as anyone can be in such uncomfortable cicumstances. Even after she passionately tells him she hates him and wants him to experience what she feels right now (i.e. unrequited love. Foreshadowing? Because he certainly feels at the end of his rope in 19), he still tells her he is sorry. Contrast it with how he dealt with XQ in the beginning of the drama. Of course, part of the reason he is so kind here is because there is no confusion for him like there is with XQ. He can be so nice precisely because he has no interest. (Btw, the bit where he says he has kissed, kissed XQ is lovely).
And the best part? Xiang Qin overhears it, and he finds out and he doesn't snap at her, but instead teases her instead. And when she asks can she go home with him, he shrugs in an 'Oh my God, what else' way and starts walking off but as she stands there all 'what do I do now?' you hear him call out 'Well, are you coming?'
And then there follows that lovely hilarious scene in the cab when the cabbie thinks they are actors (XQ is dressed up as a ghost for a masquerade party) and XQ tries to explain that no they are not, but ZS is just cracking up in the background. And when XQ points out that their kiss was two years ago, and she is surprised he brought it up to ZY, Zhi Shu's response? He mumbles something to the effect of 'but then there was that time at the hospital.' OMG OMG OMG. But of course XQ is clueless (and she never would even suspect as she has no idea he really likes her) and thinks 'weirdo. Even I almost forgotten about our kiss.'
I really think all of this indicates that Zhi Shu has began to consciously accept his feelings for Xiang Qin and is on the verge of figuring it out. I think their Christmas together and then her support during the doctor fight with his parents really broke some wall in him.
And he's also moved back home!!!!
I love how XQ comes home really late after waiting all day at ZS's place to give him her present. And she trips over some boxes and ZS is there. And he is so quiet and he asks her if she is OK and apologizes that he forgot she had night blindness. And he is quiet and nice. In fact, he is that way throughout the whole ep. And then she says 'even though it's late [I want to wish you Happy Birthday!]' but he won't let her finish and just quietly says 'it's after midnight' and I realize that OMG, he is upset that she didn't wish him happy Bday and he was counting on it (love how he tells her, 'you really shouldn't come home so late.')
And next morning they eat breakfast together. And he doesn't snap even when Mom tries to do her matchmaking tricks (when XQ expects him to snap). Just asks her to pour him coffee and she sits next to him and they eat breakfast companionably. And she wishes him Happy Bday and mentions that she left her present for him outside his apartment so she needs to pick it back up.
And the next thing we see? It's...OMG OMG OMG...He is running up the staircase in his old apartment, and he finds her present, and it's not anything cool (a box of chocolates and a model house she made herself) but she clearly put so much effort into it and he is so clearly moved and EEEEEEEEE!!!!! And then she comes by later and the present is gone and she wonders who took it.
Also love the scene where XQ and little brother eat noodles and spash on each other and it's a little thing but so domestic. Love it.
And the fantasies of XQ giving ZS his present? Hilarious.
And now ZS puts his life on hold because his father is sick and he's a good kid and I feel awful for him. No medicine for ZS for time being, huh?
ETA: Oh my God, he is doing a Tamahome!!!
OK, for those who have no idea what I am talking about, here is a pertinent explanatory quote from a FY post some time back: Miaka cooking so badly (as a way to sort of win him back after his 'we can't be together' rift) and Tamahome saying even pigs get better food. And Miaka storms out so Tamahome just glares at the rest of the Suzaku 7 and barks "give me all the food Miaka cooked" and starts just shovelling it in grimly, eating every last bit even though he is kinda turning purple. Love.
But yeah, XQ cooked and it's horrible and she put it in front of ZS and YS. And YS tries and is horrified as ZS is just sitting there. And poor XQ tries all of her three dishes after the other and ends up spitting them out herself because they are so awful. And she is totally at a loss and so upset and she clearly tried so hard and then, after she just demonstrated herself how inedible they are, ZS reaches for one of the dishes, and calmly eats it with rice. And then a different dish! And XQ is all 'you don't have to!' and ZS continues eating and tells little brother (who is hopping about the amount of salt), 'You just have to eat more rice with it, it's fine' or something to that effect. And Yu Shu is 'what did you just eat?' (as ZS has something else) and ZS calmly replies 'a potato.' YS: 'But why is it crunchy?' ZS: 'Because it's raw.' YS: 'Spit is out, it's poison, you'll die.' ZS: 'It's not poisonous. Yu Shu, eat and stop complaining.'
And the look on Xiang Qin's face.
Oh.
MY GOD!!!!!!
And I love how even XQ is gagging on the food (and is thinking 'it's not ordinary bad food but ZS is eating it') but ZS phlegmatically contiues eating it all morsel by morsel.
