This post is a collection of some amazingly gorgeous still from two Bollywood movies I am really looking forward to: Dhoom 2 and Don.

'But why would I look at them?' ask you. 'I don't have much interest in Bollywood.' That might be true. But you should still check them out because it's a collection of handsome men and gorgeous women who have rarely looked better.

Dhoom 2 is an upcoming cops-and-robbers flick which is incredibly star-studded and blessed with so much hotness I wonder the cans of film don't explode like supernovas. Yes, it is a sequel, but no, watching Dhoom is not necessary. 2 stands alone. This time, Abhishek Bachchan's tough cop (together with his annoying sidekick played by Uday Chopra) pits his wits, his fists, and his awesome leather-wearing powers against a mysterious master thief, played by Hrithik Roshan. Actually, since Hrithik is by far the biggest star in the movie, from the previews and still and the plot line, the movie appears to be more about the robbers than the cops, but that is OK with me.

[livejournal.com profile] aliterati and I have been simply dying for this movie. Mainly because we are both sad Hrithik fangirls and the guy has never looked better and we want to see him in a non-dreadful movie (Hrithik's early choices are enough to make the staunchest shudder). But also because this is the movie that finally, finally pairs him with Aishwarya Rai, who is not only as gorgeous as he is handsome, but is probably the only Bolly female dancer who can keep up with him. There is also gorgeous Bipasha Basu who seems to have inexplicably fallen for Uday's character (who seems to be there solely to remind us not all men look like demigods), and who is, amusingly, the RL fiancee of John Abraham, the actor who played the villain in the first movie.

But anyway, without much more ado. Hrithik and Aishwarya, burning up the screen:

Hrithik and Aishwarya sizzle up:

They produce a spontaneous combustion of hotness in fact:

Hrithik and his loooong loooong legs:

Hrithik might be a master thief but he apparently can't steal a shirt:

And he and Abhi bond over the fact:

Hot Bipasha:

With unhot Uday:

Yuuuuum:

Not yum:

The gorgeousness that is Aishwarya:

The gorgeousness that is Hrithik:

Aaaand together we get:

'Are you lookin' at me, punk?'

Hrithik. Quenching his hotness in the rain:

Abhishek and Uday getting gun envy:

*shudder* This movie has Hrithik. And Abhishek. But we get Uday with the rose between his teeth:

Ugh:

The gorgeous Bipasha Basu. We'll even overlook the Uday-induced blindness:

Muuuuch better:

'What do you mean, Hrithik is prettier than me?'

Now just tell me this wasn't the hottest thing ever?

The other picture choice of the day is Don the cooler than cool masala thriller with Shahrukh Khan (my favorite actor ever, bar none), Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Rampal and Kareena Kapoor. Don is a convoluted, delicious story of mobs and doppelgangers, revenge and falling in love with who you shouldn't, and stolen identities, and daring plots. YUM.

Arjun Rampal. Don's closest ally:

Priyanka Chopra. She starts out as an avenger of her brother. Problem. She falls in love with the man she's trained to kill. Or the man she thinks she is trained to kill. For what I mean by that, watch the movie. Psssst, doppelgangers.:

Don:

Don with tragic Kamini, played by Kareena Kapoor:

Don and Priyanka:

Don with Ishaa Kopikar, who plays Don's amoral hussy of a girlfriend:

More Ishaa:

Don, having stolen Hugh Hefner's jacket:

AND his girls:

Kamini:

Priyanka:

More Don:

I really think I need to start watching more Bollywood cinema. I have heard of Hrithik's legendary hotness but have yet to see any of his movies (clearly, this needs to be remedied, and soon). Is Dhoom that superhero movie? I remember reading something about it a while ago, and I'm guessing it was successful (hence the sequel). I mena, how could it not be? Gorgeous people, in superhero costumes, dancing to Bollywood music, and fighting evil.

Good god, I need to find these movies on DVD, and soon.

Nah, Dhoom is not the superhero movie. Krrish is the superhero movie. It's indeed excellent and fun and doesn't take itself too seriously. It's already out on DVD.

Dhoom is a different one, a thriller that comes out Nov 3.

As to Hrithik, OH YES. But you have to be careful because after his first big hit he made a string of atrocious movies which will make you want to never watch Bollywood again. I really rec Krrish, or if you want it a bit more arty, Mission Kashmir or Lakshya which are a terrorist and a war movie respectively. Or Kabhi Khushi Kabie Gham for that great masala extravaganza...

My desi friends have been rec-ing Mission: Kashmir to me forever, and I just have never gotten around to watching it. The last real Bollywood movie I've seen was Lagaan, which I saw during one very sleep-deprived reading period before winter finals my freshman year of college. It was so good, but I don't think I got as much out of it as I could have, what with me falling asleep for a little bit during the first hour (this was probably because we were watching Lagaan at two in the morning. Clearly, I did not make the best sleep-related decisions in college).

I am a sucker for dancing and singing in movies, which is why I like Bollywood. If there is musicality in Krrish, I am so there.

Krrish is a masala musical, so there is singing and dancing aplenty. It's worth watching just for the really hot dance Hrithik does in black dress pants. With clowns.

Singing and dancing? With clowns?!

Ooh, this is sounding more and more awesome. (Incidentally, it was the singing and dancing gangsters/boxers turned circus clowns that actually completed my conversion to KAT-TUN fannishness. Seriously, if you're looking for a dose of cracktasticness, check out Dream Boys. The 2005 version has Kame in the lead role, the 2004 version has Takizawa Hideaki. Sure, it's very, very gay, and very, very weird, but who cares?!)

From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
Oh yes. Hrithik takes his OTP to circus and does an impromptu dance. And it's beyond hot.

Btw, did I mention that Krrish has a NINJA FIGHT????

Seriously.

I mean, it's heaven, as far as movies are concerned :P

Here are my previous posts on the movie:
http://dangermousie.livejournal.com/tag/krrish

And speaking of ninjas, I got my hands on all of Basilisk, so it's going to be 24 eps of angsty fighting ninjas. Yay.

Ok, ok, so I HAAAATE that stupid My Name Is Ali song from Dhoom 2. I mean, Ash and Hrithik look SOOOO HOOOOT, and Abhishek and Bipasha do too, so WHYYY must they put Uday in there? He's going to ruin EVERYTHING YOU RUINER!! Waah! Just because Aditya Chopra is producing, he has to stick his brother in there. Honestly, it would be perfect hotness if he wasn't involved. :P

I could stand him in the first Dhoom, because I don't like Esha much either. But now it's just getting ridiculous. ;)

Agreed on Uday. He looks like a monkey, he acts like a monkey and he should just stay in the zoo. Ugh.

The thought of Bips chosing him is insane...

They should have a surprise ending where John comes back from the dead of Dhoom 1 and takes Bips away, mwahahhahahaha! ;)

I cannot oppose to the sharing of Dhoom 2 hotness, but goodness gracious Uday could not get any more unattractive if he tried - so I wouldn't say no to you editing out the pictures with him, at least the ones with only him. Eurgh. But the Abhi & Hrithik picture is my current wallpaper for very specific reasons. I find myself staring at it way too much.

I'm not fan of Ash but she does look damn fine, and I actually kind of look forward to her and Hrithik together. It'll sizzle for sure.

I like Ash with the right movie and right director. She can go from breathtakingly sublime (Devdas) to yawnworthy (KHGN) and vice versa faster than any other actress I can think of.

But to see her with Hrithik? Dream come true (and a good rehearsal for Jodha Akbar).

Re: Uday. Honestly. What kind of a genius thought sticking Uday into a movie with HR and Abhi at the peak of their hotness was a good idea? I mean, the contrast makes him even worse. Maybe it's to remind us of the pain in life. See, teaches the movie, into every life some rain must fall. You can't enjoy your Hrithik without being faced with the angst of looking at Uday.

Am I the only one who liked her in KHGN? But I guess I'm one of the few who liked that movie in general.

I have always liked Ash as an actress. Saw her in Taal first and liked it, then HDDCS, loved her, then Devdas...then Aa Ab Laut Chale which was the worst movie ever created, but overall, she's competent. Sure, she's no Kajol, but I've seen MUCH MUCH worse.

Heck, Rani only got good recently, and if I had given up on her, then I would have missed an amazing performance in Black!

I like Aish but her movie choices recently have left me cold. She's been picking much better ones now so I am excited. I think the worst thing about her is her hype. Turns me off a bit.

In all honesty I found Uday okay in the first Dhoom. Nice dumb comedy side kick. Worked. But they didn't *have* to give him a song with Esha, that was just unnecessary. I await the horrors of My Name is Ali, the song which is obviously about his character. Last time we got wet!Uday, could they outdo the horror of that? Hope not.

It's all because he's a fuckin' Chopra - a sad show that being someone's kid *will* get you somewhere in the industry. Otherwise this alien would not have a career.

exactly. Uday can't act, dance and is not good-looking. But he is a Chopra, so a red carpet is laid out for him. Just stop stuffing him our throats, PLEASE.

If Dhoom 2 had a nickname, it would be "hot". Not to belittle Don, because SRK, Arjun, Priyanka (so beautiful), Isha (wow) and Kareena (hawt) are already considered sexy by the media.

Do you still want to go see Don this weekend? Unfortunately I'm only free Friday night, because I volunteered to help with the Zoo trick or treating.

If that doesn't work, we'll have to go some other time. I'm so excited to find out about the Bollywood movie theatre in town!!

I can't do Friday. Sorry (have to go to a friend's party that I already agreed to).

But are you free during the week? Or we could try it the weekend after next...
