Gorgeous People Behaving Gorgeously
Oct. 23rd, 2006 03:23 pmThis post is a collection of some amazingly gorgeous still from two Bollywood movies I am really looking forward to: Dhoom 2 and Don.
'But why would I look at them?' ask you. 'I don't have much interest in Bollywood.' That might be true. But you should still check them out because it's a collection of handsome men and gorgeous women who have rarely looked better.
Dhoom 2 is an upcoming cops-and-robbers flick which is incredibly star-studded and blessed with so much hotness I wonder the cans of film don't explode like supernovas. Yes, it is a sequel, but no, watching Dhoom is not necessary. 2 stands alone. This time, Abhishek Bachchan's tough cop (together with his annoying sidekick played by Uday Chopra) pits his wits, his fists, and his awesome leather-wearing powers against a mysterious master thief, played by Hrithik Roshan. Actually, since Hrithik is by far the biggest star in the movie, from the previews and still and the plot line, the movie appears to be more about the robbers than the cops, but that is OK with me.
aliterati and I have been simply dying for this movie. Mainly because we are both sad Hrithik fangirls and the guy has never looked better and we want to see him in a non-dreadful movie (Hrithik's early choices are enough to make the staunchest shudder). But also because this is the movie that finally, finally pairs him with Aishwarya Rai, who is not only as gorgeous as he is handsome, but is probably the only Bolly female dancer who can keep up with him. There is also gorgeous Bipasha Basu who seems to have inexplicably fallen for Uday's character (who seems to be there solely to remind us not all men look like demigods), and who is, amusingly, the RL fiancee of John Abraham, the actor who played the villain in the first movie.
But anyway, without much more ado. Hrithik and Aishwarya, burning up the screen:

Hrithik and Aishwarya sizzle up:

They produce a spontaneous combustion of hotness in fact:

Hrithik and his loooong loooong legs:

Hrithik might be a master thief but he apparently can't steal a shirt:

And he and Abhi bond over the fact:

Hot Bipasha:

With unhot Uday:

Yuuuuum:

Not yum:

The gorgeousness that is Aishwarya:

The gorgeousness that is Hrithik:

Aaaand together we get:

'Are you lookin' at me, punk?'

Hrithik. Quenching his hotness in the rain:

Abhishek and Uday getting gun envy:

*shudder* This movie has Hrithik. And Abhishek. But we get Uday with the rose between his teeth:

Ugh:

The gorgeous Bipasha Basu. We'll even overlook the Uday-induced blindness:

Muuuuch better:

'What do you mean, Hrithik is prettier than me?'

Now just tell me this wasn't the hottest thing ever?
The other picture choice of the day is Don the cooler than cool masala thriller with Shahrukh Khan (my favorite actor ever, bar none), Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Rampal and Kareena Kapoor. Don is a convoluted, delicious story of mobs and doppelgangers, revenge and falling in love with who you shouldn't, and stolen identities, and daring plots. YUM.
Arjun Rampal. Don's closest ally:

Priyanka Chopra. She starts out as an avenger of her brother. Problem. She falls in love with the man she's trained to kill. Or the man she thinks she is trained to kill. For what I mean by that, watch the movie.Psssst, doppelgangers.:

Don:

Don with tragic Kamini, played by Kareena Kapoor:

Don and Priyanka:

Don with Ishaa Kopikar, who plays Don's amoral hussy of a girlfriend:

More Ishaa:

Don, having stolen Hugh Hefner's jacket:

AND his girls:

Kamini:

Priyanka:

More Don:

Date: 2006-10-23 07:53 pm (UTC)Dhoom is a different one, a thriller that comes out Nov 3.
As to Hrithik, OH YES. But you have to be careful because after his first big hit he made a string of atrocious movies which will make you want to never watch Bollywood again. I really rec Krrish, or if you want it a bit more arty, Mission Kashmir or Lakshya which are a terrorist and a war movie respectively. Or Kabhi Khushi Kabie Gham for that great masala extravaganza...

Date: 2006-10-23 08:04 pm (UTC)I am a sucker for dancing and singing in movies, which is why I like Bollywood. If there is musicality in Krrish, I am so there.

Date: 2006-10-23 08:20 pm (UTC)Ooh, this is sounding more and more awesome. (Incidentally, it was the singing and dancing gangsters/boxers turned circus clowns that actually completed my conversion to KAT-TUN fannishness. Seriously, if you're looking for a dose of cracktasticness, check out Dream Boys. The 2005 version has Kame in the lead role, the 2004 version has Takizawa Hideaki. Sure, it's very, very gay, and very, very weird, but who cares?!)

Date: 2006-10-23 08:34 pm (UTC)Btw, did I mention that Krrish has a NINJA FIGHT????
Seriously.
I mean, it's heaven, as far as movies are concerned :P
Here are my previous posts on the movie:
http://dangermousie.livejournal.com/tag/krrish
And speaking of ninjas, I got my hands on all of Basilisk, so it's going to be 24 eps of angsty fighting ninjas. Yay.

Date: 2006-10-23 08:12 pm (UTC)I'm not fan of Ash but she does look damn fine, and I actually kind of look forward to her and Hrithik together. It'll sizzle for sure.

Date: 2006-10-23 08:38 pm (UTC)But to see her with Hrithik? Dream come true (and a good rehearsal for Jodha Akbar).
Re: Uday. Honestly. What kind of a genius thought sticking Uday into a movie with HR and Abhi at the peak of their hotness was a good idea? I mean, the contrast makes him even worse. Maybe it's to remind us of the pain in life. See, teaches the movie, into every life some rain must fall. You can't enjoy your Hrithik without being faced with the angst of looking at Uday.

Date: 2006-10-24 12:47 am (UTC)I have always liked Ash as an actress. Saw her in Taal first and liked it, then HDDCS, loved her, then Devdas...then Aa Ab Laut Chale which was the worst movie ever created, but overall, she's competent. Sure, she's no Kajol, but I've seen MUCH MUCH worse.
Heck, Rani only got good recently, and if I had given up on her, then I would have missed an amazing performance in Black!

Date: 2006-10-24 08:13 am (UTC)It's all because he's a fuckin' Chopra - a sad show that being someone's kid *will* get you somewhere in the industry. Otherwise this alien would not have a career.
