Freaking LJ now won't take you to you specific page for a post when you click the LJ cut but instead opens it up on my main LJ page. I don't want that. It fucks up the formatting of my main page as I mainly use cuts to post humongous pics. It also prevents from easy commenting right there. I found a work-around but it's a giant pain. Ugh, WTF is with LJ making unneeded changes. I am researching WordPress now, it's the last straw (I have a DW but that's mainly dead and my LJ is sorta like a blog anyway).

Ugh. WTF with changing things that work fine to start with?

LJ's steady downward spiral ever since Six Apart took over has been frankly amazing (and amazingly painful) to watch. Every other week I'm getting those spammy news reports in my inbox about the latest useless function they've added to make LJ even more cluttered and unusable. The only reason why I haven't moved elsewhere is because it's a pain to move everything when you had it set up in one place for so long. :/

I use wordpress websites, but I've never thought of using it as a blog - it's a lot of fiddling around and coding to make it look good, and then it just isn't as easy to do average blogging things like switching posts to FO or using custom filters.

Oh, really. That sucks. I just want to have a not-too-frilly blog.

Have you looked at Blogger, then? When I was looking at different blogging services, I was choosing between WordPress and Blogger. Although WordPress eventually won out for me, one strong pro for Blogger is that it's much simpler to get started on there.

blogger is easy to get started, but not quite as much fun for comments etc - one thing lj does have right is the nested commenting threads, it makes it easy for us to be part of conversations where blogger doesn't. :(
