dangermousie: (Capital Scandal secondary otp by meganbm)

I am in the middle of ep 15 with subs and am literally bawling. It's ridiculous - I am as spoiled as it is humanly possible to be and yet here I am. But! But!!!!

On a different note, Bung Do is freaking insane. Bung Do has NO idea whether the talisman will still work or not, and yet he still slits his own throat without hesitation on the chance that it does and will transport him back to Hee Jin. OMFG NO WORDS. (Also, I love that it's not just HJ he would lose but this whole wonderful new world with all its new opportunities for travel and learning and experience and freedom. 17th century world is pretty much a nightmare). But seriously, Holy FUCK! And it works but only for a few minutes and oh I am bawling like a freaking lunatic and I have no idea how people watched it live because I would have DIED!

Proper post when coherent but on a final note for now, the telephone thing at the end of the drama so makes sense, seeing the crucial importance of phones in this drama and the fact that when the 'miracle' happened he was about to die yet again, with no hope of survival.

and yet he still slits his own throat without hesitation - see, I disagree. He did hesitate, just for a second. And I agree with HEADSNO2's comments on Dramabeans final recap - "it suited the way the magic has worked so far for Boong-do to finally pay his debt for cheating death, with death. Without any hope of being saved Boong-do was ready to give up everything, and only at that last crucial moment did the tide turn so that the phone, a recurring motif throughout this drama, could ring with what was literally a life-saving call."

Oh, I agree, he hesitated for a second, but ultimately he didn't - I guess I didn't phrase it well but a second's hesitation only in this scheme of things is pretty insane.

True. The fact that he does it anyway, despite the insecurity, because he is that desperate to see her.

It's such a heartbreaking scene when he reaches out for her and poof, he's back in Joseon. When he collapses on his knees, I just die.

I find that even with all the crying, sad music, and drama, the scene is quiet and the acting subdued, which actually helps with the delivery of the emotions to the viewer. What do you think?

He is normally so controlled and contained that to see him break down like that is horrifying.

I agree - this is a very beautifully understated drama, the opposite of makjang and it makes it more effective - I find when a drama tries to milk something sad, I stop being sad and start being amused.

I think the fact that we never saw him doing that to travel all along makes it a bigger impact. I mean we knew he was endangering his life someway to travel but to see him do it when we do not know if it'll work? smh
