The boys save their live performance, in part through Hyun Soo being cool (only fair, as he was the reason their festival performance went off the rails). I especially love how pleased Soo Ah and Yerim are, for different reasons :)

The boys are thrilled too. I love seeing them happy because they worked hard and started out as such underdogs with dead-end lives (even if, narratively, I liked the underdog narrative more, it makes happy they actually achieved things and certainly, following the cost of success, is something dramas don't do often).

I loved that bit, for both its friendship interplay (you just know Hyun Soo knows about Ji Hyuk's romance) to the cuteness of JH texting SA in secret, etc.

One of the things that strikes me about this episode is that we see, over and over again, that they are all good guys, just with different priorities and goals. HS is invested in success and is good at it, but he's not a bad guy or a bad friend - he is the one who remembered Kyung Jong's birthday (the only one, I might add). Both his and JH's positions are valid to take (selling out v. succeeding) but they are not really compatible positions. It seems that they worked out their difference this ep - with Ji Hyuk's acknowledging HS' hard work and even the adorable "I love you" (and you can tell how happy Hyun Soo is to have that pre-Byung Hee closeness back) but I don't think they reconciled their philosophical differences permanently and I can see them erupting again under more stressors. Neither is wrong, which is what makes it hard.

Adorable!

Yup, like I mentioned above, a confrontation with JH and HS about 'faking it' to succeed...Do Il is, as always, the peacemaker.

This scene was mainly cute because Yerim totally wanted info on Hyun Soo (and learned he's a good big bro, awwwww).

JH getting ready for seeing Soo Ah. It's adorable seeing him concerned over appearance.

Poor Kyung Jong. Everyone (except HS) forgot his birthday. Awwww. The fact that he's karaoke-ing "Winter Child" from Dream High, which is a huge favorite of my Jin Gook/Hyemi-shipping self, makes it even more :(

Here is the scene in Dream High:
(No, I never got over the shipping).
JH cancels his date because he finds out it's Kyung Jong's birthday. You know, we literally have one scene with our OTP this whole ep and it;s 10 seconds long. He has good reasons, sure, for each cancellation, but the fact remains, he's pretty much won her only to de-facto ditch her. If you can't see her, call her and apologize or, even better, make time. Ten minutes will not take away from a birthday party or composition or anything. I know she's low maintenance, but wtf, Ji Hyuk! For once, I am on Seung Hoon's side, when he points out that JH has a way of making SA lonely. You better fix it, dude, don't make me regret shipping you.

Birthday party! (I love that Ha Jin feels badly for forgetting. You should. But I dig the new black hair).

Ji Hyuk 'making up' with Hyun Soo and acknowledging his hard work. And telling him "I love you, Dog HS." Heeeeee and awwwww. I love how little-boy pleased HS looks - he needs JH's validation.

Get together already, for my sanity!

I liked this scene with WK and JH. I loved that he told her it's none of her business if he dates Soo Ah and that he sees WK as family, not as romantic prospect. Finally. JH is pretty non-confrontational with those he loves - I wonder if it's because he treasures them so much as the only family he has and also because he doesn't trust for his friends to care for him unconditionally, since his own family rejected him. WK does have a point that he should have told her sooner and also the point that the guys' success may be driving them apart because they end up placing that above personal appointments and that drives everyone further (see this play out this ep with Soo Ah). But psssst, WK, you have a gorgeous drummer eating his heart out for you!

I loved the principal ass-kissing now they are successful.

Ji Hyuk follows Soo Ah but she goes to talk to Seung Hoon and he overhears. I have to say, while I understand while SA want to keep her oldest friend, that would be total hell on SH and she should just write this off and let go. You can tell there is a little distance between JH and SA already because they haven't seen each other lately - no time to talk things out and work them out.

Cute!

I can't believe I am going to say it, but I agree with SH. I think JH is being a bad boyfriend. Not deliberately - he is just swept away by all the new success - but no matter how low-maintenance and steady Soo Ah is, he needs to do more than what he's doing (which is literally nothing). I am sure his head is still on straight, he just needs to figure it out. Side note - they have a high schooler as the producer too, really? OK, now we are definitely in manga land.

I loved JH working out things about writing and band and loyalty and creative process.

But that results in him standing Soo Ah yet again (she even didn't go to a movie with her friend because he said he'd stop by and he didn't, without even a 'so sorry still love you' text). Hey, creative genius, as a boyfriend you are major fail and should be in the doghouse! At this point, unless you snap out of it and get your act together, Seung Hoon is beginning to look a better bet (especially based on stuff in preview which made me see red). She needs a guy who will put her, if not first, then equal to his ambition/career/creative drive/whatever. He used to but it's been a while. What's the point of success if it leaches away everything that made you awesome as a person, JH?

Seriously, if Soo Ah was a friend, I'd tell her to find another guy. Fix it, boy, because I might still love you, but I really want to smack you hard.
Bring on ep 12!

Date: 2012-03-07 08:48 am (UTC)I loved the first part of this ep with all the make ups and teh cute but by the end of it you can already see the signs of things to come. Ah man, these boys! JH and HS especially are their own worst enemies. Talk to each other! Both are stubborn as hell and bent on dealing with things on their own.
Ji Hyuk, Ji Hyuk! What are you doing? Still, he does listen to what's being said to him and he does take note but I'm afraid it's already a little too late now.

Date: 2012-03-07 11:29 am (UTC)As for SUFBB, JH is pretty crappy with his bf duties right now. He's too non-verbal sometimes. I melt whenever he does something to make it up (the lollipop scene!) but I'm pissed that he was even brooding before to begin with. Like wth? If you're upset at ur gf, you should talk to her about it and at least hear her out. Don't make her out to be the bad one just on your own assumptions. Oh, I might already be on ep 12, but yeah, he's obviously in his first relationship because he's beyond clueless
