Shut Up ep 5 and 6 - one word: asjfkgkfkdkfirjdfk

These eps were the best yet - my OTP made me realize that they are even more awesome than I thought (a feat I believed impossible) and turned me into a gibbering lunatic, there was some great music (none of it involving Strawberry Fields, who still sound like elevator music to me), Ji Hyuk proved yet again how amazing he is, I've aquired a new OTP that I am unhealthily invested in, and I've developed quite a thing for Hyun Soo. So, how much better can it get?



I already posted about the awesome JH/SA getaway in my previous post but I must say this was one of my favorite shippy things ever in anything. I just love that Ji Hyuk doesn't hem or haw but acts and that Soo Ah is remarkably free from self-pity. Anyway, on with the show!

Ji Hyuk's bandmates are justifiably pissed off at him ditching like that in the middle of the competition and yet I love how they are individual in their responses - you can never confuse Do Il's reaction for Hyun Soo's (who is REALLY pissed off btw. The kid has a lot of anger bottled up, probably from seeing his parents be generally helpless. /pop-up psychologist). Ji Hyuk tries to justify himself that Soo Ah is Byung Hee's muse and I love that the guys aren't fully buying. This is going to bite you, JH!


















Soo Ah melting listening to Ji Hyuk singing (neither one of them realizes it's him singing). Their chemistry is just out of this world. And he checks to make sure there are no thugs in her apartment. Every girl needs a Ji Hyuk!






















JH suggests switching apartments temporarily, so if the thugs come, they won't find her. AWWWW. You know, I just realized why I love JH/SA so much (in addition to them being functional, chemistry-full etc etc). In a typical drama or manga, SA and Byung Hee would be the OTP and Ji Hyuk would be the steady, in-the-shadows secondary guy, who's in love with the heroine and takes care of her but can't compete with Byung Hee's shine. But not here.












They tell each other not to peek at each other's things, while peeking. LOLOLOL. And then Ji Hyuk finds a sketch of the boys lighting fireworks for Byung Hee. Ohhhhh.










Now that Soo Ah's father is officially bankrupt/wanted by the police, the horrid school kids resort to bullying but I love that Soo Ah, while quiet, is hardly cowed. She may be an outcast now too, but I love that she's hardly broken about it.








And, let's face it, with black knight Ji Hyuk standing up for her, only a total idiot like PJ would even attempt anything.






Seriously, Seung Hoon repeatedly tells idiot to leave Soo Ah alone but clearly PJ's brains have gone walkabout.




And that about sums up the differences - the hair, the straight posture versus the slouch etc.






Boys!!!! They learn they made it to the finals.




General band and Woo Kyung awesomeness. And some Hyun Soo pretty.












Cuuuuuute! Also, I think this is where she figures out that the voice on her iPod singing thee song she likes is his.

Every time I think they can't own my heart more, they prove me wrong.










The boys invite Soo Ah to listen to their performance. Well, the boys minus JH, who is embarrassed, poor darling.






ashdfjidudigjifgjifghirtirttthkghjgk!!!! SHIP!!!!!! Woo Kyung crying about Ji Hyuk never noticing her, without realizing there is someone who is in love with her right there. Go for it, girl! He's awesome, your friend, and, did I mention, insanely hot?!










Ji Hyuk, all beat up by the thugs that are after Soo Ah because he led them away from her, returns back home and as his reward sees this. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BREAK HIS HEART, DRAMA!!!! Also, poor Seung Hoon, you cannot take a hint - she publicly announced she's not your gf and shows about as much interest as she does in trees. Give it up.










I just like this shot. Besides, you can never have too much Ji Hyuk.




Ji Hyuk's all clammed up after what he's seen and his friends don't exactly know what is going on but they pick up it has something to do with Soo Ah. Here is Hyun Soo being pissed off on his friend's behalf (the boy has a chip on his shoulder the size of a boulder).










Speaking of Hyun Soo, maybe I should check out Infinite. I am developing quite an age-inappropriate crush here on L's character. I mean, he's this ball of anger, who's also a perfectionist and a caretaker older brother of the most adorable moppet ever. And he looks like this. EEEE.






Poor darlings!












Deathwish idiot continues his deathwish, by pushing SA at JH and taunting them as 'rooftop couple.' Which would be more effective if either SA or JH gave a frell.

Seeing that Seung Hoon is not good at hints, Soo Ah spells it out - she is only interested in him as a friend, sorry for misunderstanding etc. OMFG! A sane heroine who explains things in a timely manner! Secondary guy who doesn't go insane hearing this! I love! You get the sense they've been friends for a long time btw, which explains a lot. But he's just not passionate enough (I don't mean in sexy sense, I just mean, passionate for life - he never had to be, everything has been handed to him).




Band, and pretty pretty Hyun Soo.






He realizes the song she's so obsessed with is the one he sings and the voice she loves listening to so much is his. This scene pretty much killed me. Especially when she tells him how that voice makes her feel - "This voice is so strange - when I'm lonely it makes my heart feel warm, and when I'm excited it makes my heart race, and when I'm sad it makes me want to cry." His faaaaaaaaaaaaaaace!




















Hyun Soo running to the competition and hurting his hand when he had to throw himself out of the way of a car. That car has up and coming singer Yerim...

They are performing and got their audience on fire and then Ji Hyuk notices Hyun Soo's hand, bleeding all over his guitar (side note - wtf, Hyun Soo, you brave, stubborn idiot! Do you want to lose your fingers or something?! I realize it's for Byung Hee's memory but seriously eeeeeeeeeeek!)








I think the slashers just went to a very happy place :) I am not a slasher but I still ate up the bromance and the h/c like candy. I just love how Ji Hyuk is such a big bro to everyone and such a caretaker and he knows stopping means they lose, but losing to their arch-nemesis or even not fulfilling Byung Hee's last wish is not as important as taking care of those he cares about. This is the same with his ditching the practice-room competition to save Soo Ah - it is clearly a pattern - he places those he cares for above all. Also, I love that Hyun Soo tries to fight and stay on even then, the darling lunatic. But yeah...

Yerim comes to apologize and Hyun Soo blows up at her because, he tells her, his dead friend didn't get his last wish, because of him, Hyun Soo, so nothing she can say will fix it, so to get lost. I SHIP THIS I SHIP IT PLEASE PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!












Soo Ah comes to find Ji Hyuk instead of going to a celebration for Strawberry Fields only to find him on the roof, talking about Byung Hee, clearly not exactly right in the head. She is worried out of her mind.












She comes up and is not the greatest heights fan so tries to get him down. And then this happens:

SA: Let's go down together.
JH: If you were so scared,why did you come up here?
SA: Because you wouldn't come down.
JH: What am I? Why does it matter to you if I die or not and that you came up here?
SA: Because I want to be with you.

OMFG, a heroine who actually says what she thinks and has no problem doing so! I love you, Soo Ah! Plus, I really think JH needs something like this - for someone to find him 'worth' taking the first step towards.










And then this happens, and my unconscious body is carted off...

The handhold got me even more than the kiss. just the natural way they twined fingers i was like EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! I also love love that Su Ah said it first, I know usually i prefer the guy to say things first but in this situation it was really necessary for Su Ah to take the first step. This guy is so damaged and is told by society that he's no good. and here's this girl who totally likes him exactly the way he is. Its just adorable. I was really worried too when he was up there, I was like oh no baby suicide is not the answer!

Yes, normally I prefer the guy to take the first move, but I loved Soo Ah doing it here for all the reasons you've stated - it kills me someone who's so good (and talented, too) doesn't have that much self-worth (but then none of the Eye Candy boys do, even if they try to cover it in different ways).

I love all the boys, their friendship is so great, it seems at least a few of them come from
not so great family environments so the band is a second family.
The apartment swap was cute, and Ji Hyuk totally went to her underwear drawer ;D
What I like about secondary guy is that he is normal, instead of claiming that Su Ah is his her accepts that
she sees him as a friend and nothing more(yay to non psychotic secondary guys)

I agree - the fact that all the backgrounds we know are dysfunctional (JH's family was apparently so bad that he left, Do Il's father is a gangster and DI is never at home, and HS is bringing up his kid sister and from what we saw of his parents, it's not really a happy situation either) explains why they are always together and loyal to each other.

I love this show SOOO much right now; everyone behaves normally and their character's motivations are understandable (except PJ, who is absolutely crazy).

More than the kiss, I loved when he held her hand; it was such a small gesture, but it really did set the tone for the entire scene. When they interlocked fingers, I screamed with shippy glee.

BTW, the actor playing Seung Hoon is really attractive. Like, really, really, really attractive. There have been times when the camera focused on him and my mind went completely blank. He's not a bad actor either, so it really bugs me that he's the second lead you're supposed to be exasperated with (case in point, his interactions with Soo Ah). I hope that this drama lets his character grow!

PJ is crazy but it's not unrealistic crazy - he's a spoiled rich kid with violence issues who's never had anyone reign him in (Seung Hoon really should - letting him get away with stuff due to friendship is not good for PJ either).

Yes, the hand-holding wasn't passion, it was trust and tenderness. GUUUUH.

I am sure Seung Hoon's actor (who used to be a model) will get his own drama at some point - I mean, he has progressed to second lead from very small role in BOF.

God, I loved these two episodes but I think I may just have loved ep 7 even more! It was practically made of awesome. Ju Hyuk is such a good, caring person and he's taking some strides on how to be a proper leader too.

Ep 8 is more serious in the tone but it moves the plot forward quite a bit. It's going to be SO antsy waiting for next week.

Too tired to write anything more. I need to get to bed, stat.
