Guess which first episode I just watched and liked? Here is a hint:

I genuinely enjoyed the first episode of Dr. Jin, thus (if the blogs are anything to go by) placing me in a solid minority of one. But I very much enjoyed it and I stand by my opinion.
This is not drama-as-art the way the Japanese JIN (at least first season, I never did watch the sequel) was. And this is undoubtedly cheesy. But it is also entertaining and, let's face it, I think at least 80% of dramas are made of enough cheese to double as a dairy farm in Wisconsin. (Frex - King 2 Heart and Rooftop Prince, very entertaining, pure cheese).
Part of my fondness is that fusion sageuks are my favorite genre and time-travel my favorite device. Part of it is my enormous fondness for Song Seung Heon, Park Min Young (who has gorgeous chemistry with SSH), Lee Bum Soo (who is stealing the show), Jaejoong et. al. But a lot of it is that it's just cheesy yummy fun. If I want a fusion sageuk I consider genuine quality, this will never be it (that crown would probably go to Chuno) but as far as a great way to spend a couple of hours - oh yes, sign me up right here!
In conclusion - I was very pleased to note that Edward Cullen is alive and well in Joseon Korea:

Here he is, minutes before his even eviller Daddy randomly shoots a horse. Just because. Evil.

Ojakgyo sweetness...

( MOAR MOAR MOAR )
This is ep 36 and this is where I stopped because I was so happy Jae Won and Uee finally got together and I just knew angst was coming so I needed a break before more angst hit (same with Family Honor - I am stuck on ep 32 forever because the OTP is so happy and I know misery is coming).
Bridal Mask teasers left me in a Joo Won frenzy, though, so I will probably continue now...The MV below is certainly convincing as clearly there is a ton of shippy deliciousness I have yet to see:

My first summer OTP!

If the first episode of Dr. Jin amused me, I have fallen for the second one. I am viewing it as a cheesy romantic delight and it's hitting every shippy button I have. I mean, she sold him out to the soldiers! Because she thought he was a murderer! And then he saved her brother's life and she desperately wants to take it back! And she is the doppelganger for his comatose true love back in our time! Also, I approve of SSH being sexily tied up!

And they have gorgeous angsty shippy chemistry-filled scenes like the above!

Oh yeah, did I mention them staring at each other as he's being taken to an execution?! This drama knows what I like!
Thank you for being my very own romance novel, Dr. Jin!

So, current viewing list
May. 29th, 2012 10:48 pmPlan to check out A Gentleman's Dignity (love the cast and the writer but 30+/40+ singletons interest me little whatever their gender).
Need to finish Love Rain (plan to binge on last four eps on the weekend).
I got more and more bored with King 2 Hearts so I am not even bothering to watch the last two eps.
Will be following Bridal Mask unless world ends or, even more unimaginably, it will suck.
Will only watch I Do I Do and Big if someone pays me. A lot.
Will be following Dr. Jin with major fast-forwarding (medicine=boring, OTP = hot).
Will pass on Ghost despite the leads unless I hear raves.
I am so behind on God of War, I just might give up until it's over.
Now that The Equator Man is done, I can marathon.
Might finally finish Ojakgyo Brothers (is awesome but not sure if double Joo Won will give me whiplash).
Will keep up with Queen In Hyun's Man.
