Breaking bulletin...

I think I have just fallen in love with Fourteen. If you've seen ep 9, you know precisely the scene that made me - the one in Kang Xi's court where Kang Xi accuses Eight of scheming and orders him arrested and Fourteen steps forward and talks back (!!!!!) and keeps talking back, utterly fearless, because he loves his brother so much and because he's got more guts than anyone. And offers his life as guarantee and doesn't flinch as Kang Xi grabs a sword and comes at him. And even after the only reason he isn't dead is that all the brothers got in the way, he's still defiant. (He only gets off with a beating. Ahhh, the joys of Qing China).

Anyway, now I am crushing on him with the rest of you.

In other news, Four sent Ruoxi a pendant for New Year's and she doesn't want it but I do - it's exquisite. Their scene when he was asking why she was not wearing it sent my hormones aflutter...mmmm, need more Ruoxi/Four pls.

In conclusion - go Fourteen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Do any of them have names btw? It's bizarre to address them by numbers, like Cyborgs).

Finished ep 10 of BBJX and taking a little break before I get so depressed I eat my head. This is a very melancholy drama and it's getting to me. Also, can I have more Four/Ruoxi please? As hamster428 put it "i mean, all they do is drink tea and talk and talk and talk, and back to tea, but sparks are flying off everywhere." Also, if this isn't a description of every Jane Austen novel ever, I don't know what is :P BBJX = Austen with beheadings?

I do wonder how Four transforms into pitiless figure he must be by the end of the story from his character now.

I think I will end up preferring Jade Palace over BBJX though BBJX is a better drama just because I found the former less depressing and with a more traditional narrative arc/romance. BBJX is making me so depressed. I think I will go watch Gumiho Girlfriend now just to see people who yell and act out and are goofy and not in danger of gruesome demise.

I am kinda obsessed with the song (and the singer/actor Anton Makarsky, who was in Russian soap Bednaya Nastya, that I was obsessed with years ago) but I am totally LOLing how this fits all my current narrative kinks - angsty dude in period clothes singing super-angsty love song as he is tied up and is about to be blown up with his cross-dressing lady love.

I was doomed to love drama from birth, apparently.

They are so frelling amazing. I've always loved Wallace Huo and Liu Shi Shi, but this just might be their favorite characters for me.

OMG, they need to hook up so badly! He desperately needs something to live for that isn't the mission and she needs to be with someone who will be fine with being with a strong, reserved woman with trust issues.

Random note - it seems Liu Shi Shi's two latest leading men - Nicky Wu (BBJX) and Wallace Huo (ViM) are going to be in a drama together. I say, can we dispense with a heroine and have them be slashable with swords? Or maybe cast LSS and see who she has more chemistry with :P

And while we are on the topic of period drama OTPs that drive me wild, have a MV or two of Qing Chuan/Eight from Jade Palace Lock Heart, i.e. the other 'woman time-travels to Qing and gets involved with Kang Xi's sons' drama. BBJX is indubitably the better drama, not to mention more realistic, but I confess to loving JPLH more because it has a more traditional narrative (think shoujo with some romance novel stuff) and because Eight and Qing Chuan seem set to win "Mousie's favorite OTP of the year' award. I haven't been this obsessed with a couple for a long time. The fact that Yang Mi and Feng Shao Feng have ridiculously insane chemistry helps. Yes, I am one of the crazy FengMi shippers - I have no opinion on rl hookups or anything but I believe they should be ordered to star together in perpetuity. When is Legend of Tiger Amulet coming out again?
