This season has left me pretty underwhelmed (not that the dramas are bad, they are just not to my taste). Crime Squad is excellent, 49 Days entertaining, and I am back on the New Gisaeng bandwagon but there is no mania drama for me.

OTOH, this May/summer, I am pre-obsessed with Best Love, Festival, Lie To Me and Goodbye Miss Ripley. They are pretty much tied for first place in my anticipation.

I was wondering - would it be fun for me to do a weekly post on each of these where everyone could discuss anything related to these eps as a free-for-all. Sort of the way I used to do watchalong posts but this time for aired dramas and more structured?

I confess to being excited by upcoming twdrama Hayate the Combat Butler from day one, mainly because I think the title cannot be beaten for sheer awesomeness.

But there are other reasons to be excited by the drama about a poor young man who contemplated a life of crime to get out of debt but instead ends up rescuing an heiress from a kidnapping attempt. The heiress, who is constantly under kidnapping threats, then hires him as her butler.

1. Park Shin Hye. I love her. I liked her character in YAB a lot longer than I would have if anyone else played her. I want to see her in a twdrama (though likely dubbed) because I think her cute vibe would really fit twdrama world.
2. I have been craving some romcommy goodness. And while I cannot be sure this will have romance, I am pretty sure that is the reason they aged the heiress from a 12-yr-old kid to...well...Park Shin Hye.
3. While jdramas and kdramas don't work for me when they go for odd wacky concepts, twdramas usually do.
4. While even a few weeks ago I wouldn't have considered the drama's leading man, George Hu, either a detriment or an asset (I've seen him in Love At First Fight and TGH and was fine with him in both but I didn't go starry-eyed or anything), it all changed after I checked out the inspired insanity that is KO 3an Guo. Now I have a massive crush on his Guan Yu and am definitely looking to checking him out in another drama.

Hopefully it will be a fun ride - sort of like Mei-chan without all the power dynamics problems I had with the latter. Worst case scenario, we'll get something like Romantic Princess - which actively made me leak brain matter and fast-forward for the sake of my sanity, but was ultimately inoffensive. But hopefully it will be cooler than that.

Hayate is supposed to air in April but I haven't seen any traces of a trailer so I am not sure how accurate that start date is (ah, twdramas, and their last-minute scheduling which drives me nuts). I did find this adorable video of PSH and George Hu practicing ballroom dancing, so have at it:

There is also a twdrama coming out which is, apparently, called Girl in Boys' Dorm Room which I must applaud for its getting straight to the point.

Are they ever going to fix it? Look, I am all for freedom and dissidents and commenting on corruption. And the Russian LJers have as much right as anyone else to post whatever they want, even if it may result in pissing off un- or authorized hackers.

But ultimately, and as a practical matter, I need a blogging platform I can reliably use. I want to be able to post when I want, I want to read others' posts when I want, and I want to be able to reliably make and reply to comments.

If I can't have that, I am simply going to move to another platform (so far, I am going with dreamwidth but am researching blogs proper. If all my flist moved to dreamwidth, I'd probably never come back to lj, but since they haven't, I am trying to wait it out for longer). I am not blaming or annoyed at either LJ itself or the supposed protest blogs which caused this. LJ isn't losing any money from me, as I have a permanent account and already shelled out all I ever will. Principles are great but practicality is important - and a working blogging platform is basically the sine qua non of what you want and expect from any on-line posting site.

Guan Yu finds out Diao Chan can't cook but really wants to cook for Lu Bu, so he cooks for her instead and anonymously drops it off. OK, that's what I call nuts. There's being a good sport and there is being a glutton for punishment. I am with Zhang Fei on this one.

Blah blah blah woobie, I'd feel more moved if you weren't a spy for Dong Zhuo. Seriously, go away.

Speak of the devil! Bwahahaha. Just as in the proper 3K, Dong Zhuo is (a) awful (b) enters the capital...errrr, high school, at misguided invitation of emperor...errrr, national union chief, and takes over with his flunkie Li Ru :) Also, just as in 3K, he was involving in defeating the yellow handkerchiefs.

Our gang of awesome is NOT happy, but they are all badly injured so decide to watch and wait. Look, Lu Bu, if Diao Chan ever finds out you work for the usurper, she's going to push you off the roof, especially since said usurper injured her daddy. Just sayin'.

And I think I have another OTP. I know I know I know, not canon and all, but Zhao Yun/Xiao Qiao would be awesome. (Also, how do I love that the 'comic relief' friend of the gorgeous heroine gets her own storyline, romance etc etc). Listen up, Zhou Yu, you better show up fast, because otherwise I might jump on Zhao Yun/XQ ship for good.
