I am tempted to check out Smile You - it seems so very cute and the dramabeans recaps make it sound great. Plus, I am so excited to see Jung Kyung Ho finally make it as a leading man. He is ridiculously underrated.

EXCEPT:

1. It's 46 (!!!!!!!!!!!!) episodes long. I have topped put at 36 so far (with Kingdom of the Winds) and that was a huge struggle. I am not sure I can commit that much time - that's insane - that's what, 6-7 jdramas?

2. I am interested in younger generation but all the stories about parents and grandparents sound so freaking boring and they take a giant chunk of time.

3. Lee Min Jung - I think we have found a deal-breaker leading lady for me. If it wasn't for her, I would have still chanced it. But the thought of watching her in anything just irritates me. It's irrational - she is pretty and a decent actress. But it's with her appearance and her character that Boys Over Flowers really took a nosedive into horribleness (not to mention I loathed her character) so I am illogically allergic to her.

Shall I plunge in or not? At least when it's complete so I can ff?

Here is a cute MV:

Apparently Jang Geun Seok just announced he has a girlfriend (who is not Park Shin Hye) and the wailing and gnashing of teeth by teenyboppers in the You're Beautiful thread is a thing of joy forever.

The responses range from: "noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo" to "noooooooooooooo, it should be Park Shin Hye" to "he couldn't mean it - look at him being close to PSH, it would be unprofessional to say he has a gf, the big voice in my head told me so etc etc".

It is most entertaining.

Emo Prince is straight? No way!

Ahahahaha.

If you ever wonder why I like some dramas and not others, or whether a particular one will appeal to me or slide straight off my radar, I think my preferences, tastes, and reactions can be summed up by this:

Full size )

I was convinced to watch Lovers (it since became one of my favorites, years ago) solely by this picture. It basically sums up, in a nutshell, everything I watch dramas for.

The scene from Lovers in Paris that Boys Over Flowers stole for its infamous "let me jump in the pool" climax. Here it is:

Haven't seen LiP so no idea of the context (though the day Gu Hye Sun as as good an actress as Kim Jung Eun, I'll eat my non-existent hat).

Enjoy the similarities. And the lengths to which the heroine will go to keep her job.

Ahhhh, drama self-cannibalizing.
