dangermousie: (Salman by SRKFanatic)

One of the many reasons I enjoy Bollywood is the sometimes surreally bad fashions. You look at them and think: "was the designer drinking bleach? And was the actor wearing it drinking it with him?"

[livejournal.com profile] aliterati, I think you'll like this one!

Hilarious examples under the cut:

Abhishek Bachchan. I let this one stand on its own:

Zayed Khan and cohorts making the eyes of people all over the world simultaneously pop out of their sockets:

There are many reasons I don't like Vivek Oberoi (on the right). But his outfit is certainly not helping:

Bipasha Basu channelling Priscilla Queen of the Desert:

Akshay Kumar and Bhoomika Chawla. Where do I start? How about "Argh!!!!"

Lara Dutta as ruler of the undead?

No entry would be possible without Hrithik Roshan, who makes me melt like a 12 year old girl. However, he is also aspiring to being a 12 year old girl himself, if that sweater is any indication:

Hrithik? Your wife is laughing at you, not with you. What are you, Steve Irwin? What's with the alligator stuff?

Somebody seems to have eaten a chunk of Priyanka Chopra's clothes:

The horror! The horror! Otherwise known as Madhuri Dixit:

Zayed Khan and back up dancers, continuing to terrorize the world, one bad outfit at a time:

Salman Khan, who if I were less lazy, would probably merit a whole entry by himself. There is so much wrong with this shirt, I don't know where to start. Perhaps there is a reason he is so often shirtless:

And Salman's offense against the shirt industry continues:

Priyanka Chopra auditioning for Cirque de Soleil:

Amisha Patel who can't afford a full shirt:

Or much of any clothes, actually:

Of course, when she can, it's not much better:

I am blind. Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta:

But to prove not all is bleak, sometimes the clothes are rather...nice.

Because it's impossible for John Abraham to look bad:

Hrithik Roshan, making me want to pounce:

Salman Khan, finally giving up his hopeless quest for a decent shirt. About time!

Madhuri Dixit, looking the way she is supposed to:

Shahrukh Khan, surreally elegant:

Abhishek proving that not all hope is lost. Now if he could only afford a razor!

Yes, go with traditional. While you are at it, share a razor with Abhishek:

Zayed Khan. Lookin' good:

Shahrukh Khan. Yum:

Hrithik: Not looking like a sleazy rent boy or a girl-wannabe for once. Stick to it, Hrithik!

And speaking of sexy rent boys. Arjun Rampal:

Shahrukh Khan looking good in a wife-beater. Maybe because it's not alligator-patterned:

*giggle* Thanks for that. I cracked up during the first half and drooled all over the second. ;)

And it's funny, right at this moment Swades is on German TV. I just saw the scene where the last pic is from. :)

OMG! Lovely! Salman Khan has so many "fashion police" moments in his movies! In the beginning credits of Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega he dons several crazy outfits... and Hrithik, OMG, his hairdo in Lakshya (a movie that bored me to tears) is hideous! And Madhurit's wardrobe back in the 90's was undescribable. Great post BTW!

I adore Salman, with the buffness and the occasional great acting (Tere Naam) but whoever his fashion advisor is should stop with the drugs!

Lakshya (a movie that bored me to tears) is hideous

Oh yes. Awful movie, awful hairdo. But that first dance number in a straight jacket? To die for.

Is that the "silly walks" musical number? That's the only part I like in that movie, lolz, I don't even remember what it was about :D

I love Salman slapstick moments, I laugh my ass off with har dil jo pyar karega... though it was a total rip off of that Sandra Bullock movie, "while you where sleeping"

Nope, that's an earlier dance, which is a fantasy number where he is trying to figure out what to do with himself. Hrithik is my favorite Bollywood dancer by far. Never seen anyone so graceful.

Salman in slapstick makes me want to hurt someone :P

Yay for Shah Rukh who only features in the *good* section ... though his haircut for the better part of 2005 was from the horror category. Either the short from Swades or completely long from Asoka, but not that in-between and stubby ponytail held with a scrunchie. NOT cool.

Swades was strange to see in German dubbing .. and they left scenes out and put other scenes in ... like Aahista was IN the movie instead of an extra on the DVD but then some scenes were missing :s And I really don't dig the German dubing voice of SRK :(

That is really weird.

Actually, I kinda dug the ponytail. But I am fangirl so don't mind me :P

Oh I'm a fangrrl too ... I just didn't like the stubby tail errrr.... though I thought the Lux ad was hilarious :)
And he does look goog with long hair (as Asoka - Le Sigh):)

The really weird part is, when they showed K3G over here they also cut scenes (and songs) out. And still the movies run aobut 3 hours (with advertising in between that is).

I think it says a lot about this mixed-up world we live in that I can't tell what's wrong with the clothes that you hate. I mean, except from the alligator shirt. Which I kind of like, actually, in the "so dorky and tacky it's awesome" way. What's wrong with me?

From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
You mean you are OK with the shirt that is both checkered and has flower patterns. On a guy? (Salman). Or men wearing gold lame? Or Abhishek dressed like a wannabe pimp? Now I am scared :)

Wow. That first pic of Hrithik (in the good clothes part of course!) is very yummy. And Abhi needs to stay away from the razor! I love his scruff *rawr*

I like Abhi's scruff but when it's not too much. With the bling though? Scary.

As to Hrithik is good clothes? Rowr!

Is it sad that I'm willing to forgive Zayed Khan for the terrifying outfits and back up singers just because he's so darn cute?

And Hrithik Roshan, very handsome, but I don't take issue with the zip sweater simply because I like his hair in that picture. He looks really good with it straight.

And I like that Lara Dutta's back up dancers forgot their shirts but didn't forget their essential capes.

Not sad at all. He definitely is darn cute.

I don't take issue with the zip sweater simply because I like his hair in that picture

I love everthing in that pic: the face, the hair, the sweate texture, the khakis. But that zipper just kills it dead. Actually, whoever is Hrithik's stylist frustrates me the most because when I first saw him in a movie I had this very rare spontanous reaction of "Oh. My. God. *droooooool*" and all those hideous clothes and hairstyles they give him are just criminal. But it doesn't seem his personal fashion sense is any better :P

Indeed :P

I actually really like Amisha Patel's torn white-and-black outfit... nice shades of punk and 8os revival, done quite well, I think.

Also, um, amd kinda fond of Madhuri Dixit's blousy ruffly look too, as I even emulate it at times:

Now, it's my skirt that's ruffly rather than the blouse, but not for lack of trying!!! I dearly want one of those beruffled poet shirts that are in this season, but they all seem to be transparent and expensive.

Agree on the rest though. :-D Also, is Zayed Khan really into pot?

From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
I don't think anyone's clothes should have that many rips.

And you are kidding about Madhuri's outfit, right? It's like 80s on crack!

Also, is Zayed Khan really into pot?

I wouldn't be surprised, but I bet he bought this (or someone got him that to wear) because they thought it would be hip and stylish (and the concert might have been in Amsterdam).

I must admit I prefer my Bollywood hunks sans clothes. Period.

Also, maybe Vivek wouldn't have such a wardrobe problem if he stopped raiding Aishwarya Rai's closet. I swear I have the same jeans.
