Much as I am adoring the romance-novel deliciousness of Gisaeng, the drama that owns me this spring season and that is currently my favorite drama of 2011 is the wonderful Can You Hear My Heart.

Oh, I adore it so.

DJ is remembering everything that happened the night he fell. The guy needs so much therapy! I do love the casting of KJW who has such a warm, friendly vibe, to play such a screwed-up character. Because that hidden warmth peeps out and you can tell that there is that lovely little boy he was before the whole mess that is still there, if only he can be brought out.

Woori is awesome!

I really love her lunkheaded friend and hope he hooks up with secondary girl. I really really like Lee Han and hope he gets to be a star at some point.

OK, this is just creepy. Not only is Momster all about having DJ fake being 'normal' and not deaf, she has him trained to do things like piano-playing, which he just memorizes by rote. Creepy creepy woman.

Polite outer shell:

Masking complete breakdown within:

The OTP hasn't interacted much yet, but every time they do, I melt. She sees him in his extremity, figures out he's deaf (he bluffs her though) and his walls come up and he lashes out at her. Dude, if she could melt Min Woo from Giant in her past incarnation, you don't have a chance :)

Slashy much? I find Maru and DJ's relationship fascinating.

Watching a scene he cannot join.

In a lot of ways, it reminds me of Min Woo/Miju in Giant, which is a good thing: (1) plucky poor girl with a missing brother (2) angsty icy rich guy (3) who has an evil murdering daddy responsible for death of girl's family member (4) and missing brother is guy's older bro figure actually (5) and guy wants revenge on daddy (6) and heroine is fun and no-nonsense and figures out things about guy nobody else knows (7) and first meeting is not a fun one.

Hey, if I am going to ship them half as hard as I shipped MW/Miju, I am set.

Ohh it looks wonderful, I am so tempted, but I'm already watching Will it Snow for Christmas as an influence of your posts ;A;! askjfasjhf I can't say no to pretty people in pain! I need a time machine in order to fit all these dramas in.

Ooooh. Once you finish Xmas, I totally rec giving CYHMH a try. It's going to be airing for a while, so waiting is probably better anyway, that way you'll have a cache of eps to binge on.

I love love love this show. This is one of those kdramas that has me refreshing viki constantly to see how the subs are coming along.

The show is really lovely, isn't it? It actually gives off an older kdrama vibe (well, not old old, but not current?), at least to me. Maybe it's because CYHMH reminds me a lot of Spring Waltz.

I cried buckets in episode 4. The little kids were brilliant. Woo Ri's interactions with her father really got to me. Some of those scenes were just plain adorable, especially all the times when the two sing and dance together. Little!Dong Joo's acting was amazing during the accident part. I am also really enjoying the eye candy of the adult characters :)

Has it been said anywhere how long this show is going to be?

30 eps. I keep hoping ratings for good but not too good so it won't be killed by extensions.

I didn't think about SW but now that you mention, I totally see the resemblance. It's the same understated, gorgeous vibe.

OMG i also love this show to no extent. wasn't gonna watch it (not my usual genre) but decided to for some reason or other. yesterday i watched the latest two eps raw, and actually enjoyed it lots because i wasn't distracted with reading subtitles so i could concentrate on their facial expressions. and now i'm gleeful because there'll still be two eps to watch (with subs). yeah, i'm officially obsessed.
i do very minimal fast forwarding for this one, and i'm as fascinated by the family dynamics (Bara no nai Hanaya comes to mind) as i am with the romance. it feels like Brilliant Legacy, but less contrived.
i love all of them, i do. but right now i'm most interested in JH, mostly because he's the one WR is emotionally searching for. the void in her life hasn't been due to the absence of DJ but rather the absence of her oppa. the last scene in ep 8 was awesome. the way he called her name, it was like, "omg, hug and pledge eternal loyalty to your dongsaeng, now!"
i dunno if they'd actually reveal the fact to her this soon. but i like it that at least DJ isn't kept in the dark, that *somebody* knows. i just hope JH isn't driven into the corner where he turns evil and bitter. it's like the fate of 2nd leads or something.
did i just write an essay? told you i was obsessed.

Yeah, this is so good.

I don't particularly care for JH yet, but I hope he won't go bad. He's had a tough life.

Hwang Jung Eum can rock that bowl cut! She made Giant for me too.

Its really a shame Lee Han isn't a bigger star. He's such a great actor! I keep forgetting that he played the intense other guy in Que Sera Sera because now he's stuck in the goofy secondary roles.

Seriously this show is addicting! I'm dying every week for the next episodes to come out and they're always SATISFYING. Its been a nice change.

Yes, I keep hoping he'd catch his big break.

HJE is so awesome.

I began watching Giant just recently and have gotten around to Miju & Minwoo having fallen for each other. It's heartbreaking knowing what's waiting for them and already has me sighing, "Ah, if only..." Really a pity that Minwoo didn't meet Miju at a much younger age when her influence might have molded him differently. Soooo heartbreaking.

Yes, agreed. They ended up going through seven kinds of hell to get together.
