Tomorrow, I am finally starting Can You Hear My Heart, the 30-ep drama from the writer of Last Scandal. Love the writer, adore the leads - Kim Jae Won and Hwang Jung Eum, and it just seems something I'd love. I was waiting for first 6 eps to air.

Also, doesn't KJW have the most amazing smile?

I've loved him ever since I saw him in Romance with Kim Ha Neul, where he was a student in love with his teacher.

I just did a post on this! I'm watching it too. Episodes 1-4 have subtitles, so I watched them. The child actors were amazing in their roles. You really do have to watch those episodes to understand all the complicated family ties. I think it will be a great show, personally. At least from the first four episodes.

I loved the childhood stuff and I almost never do. So yes, really well-made.

He does! And I say this after being seriously annoyed by his character in the one thing I watched him in (Wonderful Life).

OMG LOL you've watched Wonderful Life too? Unfortunately that's the only thing I've seen KJW in, so whenever I think of him, I'm sadly reminded of that godawful drama. Why I wasted my time on that, I'd never know.

omg you too?! I hated it sfm by the end, WORST PARENTS EVER. And I hated that they were so weak-willed about EVERYTHING.

Why I wasted my time on that, I'd never know.

THISSSS. I think I just held out hope it'd get better? LOL IT GOT WORSE. And I wanted the other guy to somehow get the girl, he was so adorable and not an ass.

I KNOW, OMG. I adore Eugene and was totally ready to love Kim Jae Won, and ended up wanting to stab BOTH their faces in. "Wonderful Life" my ass - the whole drama was watching them angst about useless crap because they couldn't make up their minds. Like, do you like that 2nd girl or not? If you do, JUST GO WITH HER. What's the point of only divorcing when Shin Bi turns 5?! By then it's worse because she's old enough to know and care! Omg, it bugged me so much that the most mature person in that whole drama was a 5-year-old kid.

By the end I was just hanging in there because I have this crazy obsession with finishing everything I start (this habit is a freaking curse when it comes to dramas, I tell you). And omg yes Lee Ji Hoon; as if anyone would choose Kim Jae Won's character over him.

EXACTLY ARGGGH. The thing that bothered me the most was that they were supposedly portrayed as okay parents as far as dramas go BUT REALLY THEY WERE SO AWFUL. And not in that overblown, melodramatic way parents in kdramas often are, just in a petty, realistic sense. There was this one scene where they're fighting and using their FOUR YEAR OLD BABY GIRL as an inbetween to relay messages and I was just - argh, wtf, so immature.

Lee Ji Hoon - ♥! I admit I was already sorta biased from Hello! Miss, however awful that was too but he was cute in this too.

Ugh seriously, I remember finishing that drama and swearing to myself that I would NEVER have kids unless I am prepared to be a good mother, because I absolutely refuse to be as appalling a parent as those two were. It was so disgusting how they only (sort of) pulled themselves together once they found out that Shin Bi had leukemia, and even then I wasn't convinced that they actually cared about each other beyond a "omg for her sake we have to actually crunch down and do what couples do."

LOL I was too busy oogling Ha Suk Jin in what little of Hello! Miss I watched. I'm so glad Ha Suk Jin finally has a good drama in Once Upon a Time in Saengchori, because the guy's like Kim Rae Won; he can't seem to catch a break and most of his dramas magically end up sucking.

By the time the luekemia thing rolled around I was already so disenchanted with them. :/ Man, the ending was completely dumb as well. I groaned at them trying to inject romance into the one night stand at the very end because, nuh-uh, too many episodes too late. What a fail.

I couldn't even remember who he was so I had to google, LOLL. Speaking of smiles, Lee Ji Hoon's is A++ so I was on his ship from the start. :D I haven seen that drama, though! *googles more*

Oh god, I know. They only started really dealing with Eugene and Kim Jae Won's relationship in episode 14 out of 16, or something. Sorry, if KJW spent 90% of the drama being hung up over Han Eun Jung, I'm not convinced if he suddenly decides to play "good hubby" at the end!

Once Upon a Time in Saengchori? You should watch it, it's SO GOOD. It's a tvN drama so I didn't even pay much attention to it, but it turned out to be so hilariously quirky and the Ha Suk Jin/Lee Young Eun pairing was adorable. His character was a maths genius but got struck by lightning and lost his ability to understand numbers. He later finds out that when he kisses her, he temporarily regains his maths ability LOLLL.

Seriously true, I distinctly remember the pacing issues. It's such a pity this drama sucked so much because contract marriages as far as drama tropes go lend themselves to some of the cutest OTP stuff.

LOL that sounds hilarious. Why is it, though, that when I finally have time to watch stuff I totally forget the stuff I was rec'ed? *facepalm* Haha, I'll try to keep it in mind!

From: [identity profile] hanjae.livejournal.com
LOL not to mention that this all takes place because the insurace company branch that Lee Young Eun's character is part of consistently drew the lowest figures, so the boss sends them to work in the country village of Saengchori. The office there was literally thrown up in one day, so they didn't even have electricity and toilets, and you get hilarious scenes like the one where Ha Suk Jin's using their outdoor dunny and Kim Dong Yoon's character starts confessing to Lee Young Eun right outside, and Ha Suk Jin's tries to stay hidden inside the dunny but a gust of wind blows the door right open and chucks him out of there, LOLLL.

LOLOL, that actually sounds like a lot of fun to watch. I probably won't start it for awhile, but where could I d/l it?

From: [identity profile] hanjae.livejournal.com
It is! Unfortunately there are no softsubs; it's subbed on Viki only. :/ At least most of the episodes are hosted on Youtube so it loads fast? I hate it when they link to Tudou. I'm planning to copy-pasta the subs onto notepad so I can at least have them saved, but I won't be getting around to timing softsubs for aaaages yet.

Awww, bummer. I streamed like half of Sunny Happiness on viki recently and that was a challenge tbh. :/ I like being able to skip stuff as I please, LOL.

Date: 2011-04-18 02:36 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hanjae.livejournal.com
But Youtube isn't so bad! Youtube literally loads lightning fast for me, and I like how I can still select where I want to jump to next (I like being able to ffw too, LOL). I actually never once fastforwarded for Saengchori, though.

Ohhh Sunny Happiness, I really should get onto watching that, but my currently watching/to watch list is HUGE. Twdramas and I also have a bit of a love/hate (mostly hate) relationship.

Date: 2011-04-18 02:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lightsjustright.livejournal.com
Well, that's good to hear at least.

Haha, I don't know if I would rec it, I actually found it pretty ordinary. I haven't actually finished it yet, so I don't know. Maybe you'll really like it?

Aww, I like twdramas? They tend to be a lot more fluffy, or more emotional, in my experience, which is sometimes exactly what I want. ISWAK, case in point. Fluffiest drama I have EVER seen.

Date: 2011-04-19 02:55 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hanjae.livejournal.com
Oh, really? Ockoala's given it rave reviews, so I had pondered trying it despite my misgivings; frankly it sounds exactly like your average twdrama with those contract marriage/relationship turning into ~*~true love~*~.

Hmm, I wonder what it is about twdramas which has rubbed me the wrong way? I liked a few - ISWAK is one of them - but after that, I can't seem to finish any. For me, kdramas strike the exact balance of romance/dramatic tension/angst. I've found many twdramas hard to stomach because they start off slapstick, descend into overly dramatic angst for a long stretch, and by the end everyone comes out of it with long faces. Even ISWAK had that final 4 episodes of everyone running around weeping.

LOL I don't know, it's not like I can say kdrama romcoms don't often fall into that format, but... maybe it's because there are so many varieties of kdramas that I can choose, while twdramas are 90% romcoms? *ponders* Or maybe it's because a good portion of twdrama actors/actresses simply can't deliver on the acting department and I can't get involved enough in their characters to stay watching even when it rolls into heavy angst.

I don't want to be the anti-reccer! Maybe just try it out yourself? It kind of is exactly that, though. I found it cute but forgettable. Also I seriously CANNOT shake the goofy image I have of Mike He from DBY omg.

Haha, true, but I end up buying into it all anyway. I think I cried for half the last episode of ISWAK 2. And I remember sobbing in Autumn's Concerto which pulled every single cliche in existence. And during Fated To Love You, even if I ended up hating it by the end. And they all had happy endings!! I guess I'm easy, LOL. Imagine if I actually watched something tragic. :/

My Lucky Star! That one was adorable and I love it and I never embarrassed myself with tears throughout it. :D Took awhile to get used to the dubbed voice, though.

ummmm so that sounds AWESOME?! (is there proper kissing is there a lot of kissing is there is there)

i wanted to throttle the guy in hello! miss but damn he's pretty.

From: [identity profile] hanjae.livejournal.com
LOL yes there is! I can't remember exactly, but there're at least 4 kiss scenes. Two of them are proper kisses and two are more like awkward pecks because he's the branch director and she's just a staff member, and he literally asked her for help going, "You know how I lost my ability to understand numbers? Well, after I kissed you that time, I regained it temporarily! Can you help me? I need to kiss you again!" and she socks him in the jaw. So by the time they... uh, get around to it, they're both like, "OMG need to create the proper atmosphere! *awkward*"

looool omg this sounds ace. :33 i'm a bit tired of kdramas rn, but i am /so/ going to this soon (i need something to help maintain self-control when all the may dramas start, so i can marathon them later).

Its such a good show, you'll love it. The child actors are engaging and likeable. I've seen the raws for this weeks episodes and I think that the adult actors are going to do well also.

The childhood relationship between the OTP is adorable as well.

I ship the OTP already, they are so adorable. Child actors were all perfect, so perfect, in fact, that if I wasn't such a HJE and KJW fan, I'd not be too keen on having them replaced by grown-ups.

eeh! I know! I"ve just been waiting to start this until I have a block of time - 30 eps but the potential cute has won me over.

Let me know if I need to watch the childhood eps though because the only childhood eps I've ever liked were Legend and possibly Will it Snow at Christmas.

I did love the childhood eps, which is really really rare for me, so maybe at least try them? But if you don't want to, I can give you a synopsis because they are pretty crucial for plot.
