You know, I really need a Dream High icon at this rate.

Anyway, behind the cut is my fave scene from ep 7 and it involves Hyemi and Jin Gook, though not really Hyemi/Jin Gook, if you get my meaning.

What do you do if a guy who's been awesome to you and whom you are beginning to develop a thing for is ditching you to join your archnemesis in order to work out daddy issues? Well, if you are Hyemi? You kick him.

You go, girl! I think I was especially pleased with that because I spent most of the ep wanting to do the same as I watched Jin Gook ride that emo train for all it was worth.

Hyemi and Sam Dong overhear Jin Gook agreeing to perform with Baekhee in the real showcase after ditching the fake one.

See that betrayed look on Hyemi's face? You put it there, boy!

And then he walks out and she follows him.

He tries to do his trick with the headphones but, the problem is, he taught her that trick and also she knows they are not connected. So she yanks them off and also shows the not-connected thing.

And then they have a conversation which I do not understand as there are no subs but in which the word "father" figures prominently. Jin Gook, why don't you work your issues through a therapist instead with nasty Baekhee? Seriously, not only is it a morally better course, it's less likely to get you killed by a psycho.

And then he pulls the headphones back on, signalling the conversation is over. Not that it stops her and she says her piece.

And walks away.

And then pauses, comes back and yanks his headphones off again.

And kicks him and walks off, for good this time.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Oh my god! That's excellent!!! Okay, small woman kicking guy acting like an asshat is always funny, but the fact that she turned around and came back to do it is what makes it art!

and this is how you are a fierce and independed bitch, take notes baek hee.

i figured out why i like hyemi&jingook, even if i want to hit him in the face with a frying pan right now; because their bond is more than friendship, you can feel the tension, how she is her true self around him and how she looks at him.

True - she lets her temper fly around him, and she feels secure enough to cry around him and is just generally 100% herself. Much as I am mad at him right now, he gets her the way SD (at least for now) does not.

I've now skimmed the epi through (darn, no time for full watch before today evening) with partial subs and I think I got it. It's not just because of his father, though that's certainly a big part of it. JG may have rebelled aginst his father but he still wants daddy's acceptance and... I guess love so when daddy uses some emotional blackmail JG lets go and gives up. And I mean really gives up, on his dreams. When confronted by HM he denies it's because of his father and then goes on and says he's just giving up as there is no point. That he always wanted to give up, since the beginning. Which is clearly a lie. JG is a kid and when did kids ever use sound reasoning for things they do. They are in large part lead by their emotions, rational thinking is usually not part of it.

He initally declines BH's plea in the end but then has a change of heart partly because BH tells him her mom is in the audience and she really wants to show her what she's capable of. Hello there, daddy issues.. meet mommy issues. The other part is the desire to stand on the stage, just once before he leaves for good. Sort of last huzzah. Though I'm not sure this was so clarly defined a wish until he is actually done with the perf and it finally dawns on him what he really wants to do, where he wants to be and who with. He says as much to BH, thanking her for giving him an opportunity to clear up his mind. Yup, he leaves BH there and all she can do is mutter 'so it's not me you want to be with'. Ouch, THAT hurt. Not excactly Mr Sensiteve our JG, at least when it comes to some situations.

This said I do also think that JG acted like an ass and a few more kicks in the sins would have been quite appropriate. He let down his friends and the teachers who believed in him. But when you are wallowing in you own misery you tend to ignore the feelings of others. I doubt JG ever thought he was betraying anyone but he sure knew he was letting them down.

Cricey, this reply got kinda long. I clearly have been thinking about 'things'. LOL!

Thanks for the explanation.

I am not exactly pleased with Mr Emo this ep, but to be fair he would probably be flabbergasted to be told Baekhee likes him romantically - she isn't really on his radar and teen boys aren't very perceptive about these things.

I can't possibly see how he's going to dig back into the misfits' good graces after this though.

Yeah, it'll be though going, especially with more misunderstandings to come (going by the preivew for ep 8). Hope he at least makes an effort to give an explanation rather than going into the mope-mode. We'll see.... damn that footy match.

I am not a big soccer fan at the best of times and definitely this doesn't help :)

I am trying to figure out which misunderstandings they can pile on top :P

Well, after the showcase JG arranges to meet HM but then gets waylaid by his dad's goons and by the time he extarcts himself from their clutches he is late and HM has already left, probably believing she'd been stood up - again. That can't be helpful in patching up things. If this goes the usual k-drama way, they won't talk or have a chance to talk and we all know what that leads to. This is one of the k-drama tropes I kinda hate. People, talk! ;P

Yeah, just saw that.

A good conversation will make for a short drama :) Well, at least they are emo teens in this one so I can somewhat put up with lack of communication.

I never thought I'd see the day I was glad the stuck-up, head-bitch-in-charge went around kicking people, but ... that was satisfying! Immensely so.

Have you checked out the Gisaeng drama yet? I nearly died from cliche overload. :P

I think a lot of drama characters would benefit mightily from having the Hyemi method administered to them.

Gisaeng has no subs yet :(

DarkSmurf has subs for the first two epis, only they are not yet fully done. :) I want to check this out too.

I actually checked the subs for the first ep and even though they are only partially human-proofed they seem fine.
