Ah yes...Xiang's shojo manga moment...I rewatched that scene several times and at least half was for her expression. So nice that the good genetics won out in the other kids...

Xiang agrees about the keeper comment, too(I love how she was simultaneously crushing on him and shipping them)

Jin Yong originally intended for XLN to die right then and YG to find out 16 years later. But readers loved the OTP too much; even JY's friends begged him to spare XLN's life. JY caved. God bless publishing fiction in installments on newspapers.

Yes she was. The story HR made up was absurd; YG never would've bought it if he hadn't been so desperate. Certainly the readers weren't supposed to buy it. The plot device JY revived XLN with was just as absurd (fish + honey cured her?).

Literary critics called the decision to revive XLN a cop-out, but funnily enough, nobody disagreed with it. YG/XLN has been the most popular of all wuxia OTP ever since.

I know, that story was so crazy. You could tell hR came up with whatever she could to keep YG from dying then and there. So glad it worked out though.

this post brings back memories! i havent seen this version but i remember in the Luis Koo 1995 version he asks a dumbstruck Guo Fu is his face has scared her after he pulls off the mask! and she's all speechless and big eyed and looks like she's swallowed her tongue!!! so, no, i dont think fear was quite what she was feeling!

ROFL!!! One of the best and hottest things ever!!! Her reaction was my reaction completely!
