[livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore, you created a monster!

Next on my drama hit list after the backlog (which I guess means 2010 :P) is…

Ta-dum!

Wuxia Chinese drama Return of the Condor Heroes (2006 version). Not too sure about the plot except for the usual fighting, colorful constumes and love stuff. And the OTP that seems to hit every single thing I want. My GOD. I am already shipping them like a lunatic, on basis of the MVs. Yikes.

My favorite MV but I can't embed it. Seriously, just watch it. I don't even know the story but the combo of visuals and song got me sniffling. Could be the lack of sleep too, but what the hell:

Why the sudden interest? I have about dozen more reasons.

Reason 1

Reason 2

Reason 3

Reason 4

Reason 5

Reason 6

Reason 7

Reason 8

Reason 9

Reason 10

Reason 11

Reason 12:

I think I know why stuff like this appeals to me so. It has all the angsty romance my girly heart can want, but also fights and revenge and what not for the tomboy part of me. Plus, if you think about it, the period dramas have men who are gorgeous (have you SEEN the lead of this?) and very masculine (heck, these dramas are all about how proficient these guys are with weaponry) but who also have long hair and elegant clothes. And the heroines are totally kick-butt but have elaborate hairstyles and look feminine. Best of both worlds. And it's filmed movie quality beautiful. All that plus a happy ending. What more could a girl want?

Still not convinced?

A few MVs.

If this MV was any more gorgeous, I'd probably expire:

I just love the song on this one:

This is awesome quality:

meganbmoore, you created a monster!

I'd feel more guilty about that if you weren't the reaso I watch doramas in the first place(not that I'm complaining)

ooo...I get my own tag...

calixa could tell you more about the plot than I could, though.

*will watch MVs at home*

Yup, you get your own tag as we continue a cycle of fannish cross-infestation.

And the mvs are awesome.

I find myself not caring about plot too much. Angsty hotties with swords? I am there.

Aye, I know what you mean. Some of the plot aspects in Handsome Siblings and Chinese Paladin are just...odd...and over done. And yet, Nicholas Tse, Hu Ge, Eddie Peng and Bryan Wang(and the girls and some side characters) make it really hard to care...

Reason #2 is VERY pretty. Reason #10 is... WELL, YOU KNOW! The word I'm thinking of starts with an "H" and ends with an "ottttt!!!!".

LOL. Entirely agreed.

Apparently, in the past, only hot people were permitted to exist :)

nonono...there are some ugly and absurd looking ones...they're just seriously outnumbered.

And they are only allowed to be evil or comic relief. Unless of course you are evil but with a tragic past.

Have you watched the MVs yet? The one I linked to has the guy all tied up and the girl hugging him through the ropes....

For the most part, aye. They can also be parents of masters...

I JUST got home...like, within the last 5 minutes, and am about to.

But some parents can also be hot, in an 'older gentleman' sort of way. Of course, if they are in any way nice parents, they are toast!

lol

Actually, I think the opposite of that is part of why I love Gentle Crackdown...her mother is a heroine who retired to get married and raise her daughter-she runs a house, a business, deals with her sister in law's NUMEROUS problems, handles a moocher, keeps the entire police force pacified and manages to save the hero and heroine's butts(and everyone elses) all the timee. (Plus, the hero kicks put with his brain and the heroine kicks butt in the wuxia way and being a criminal in their territory is the last thing you could ever want to do)

But other than that...*remembers various parental deaths* yeah...almost...

All good but yeah, the linked one is awesome. Incidentally, half the OTP being imprisoned while the other half embraces or tries to get to them isn't overly uncommon in these shows...

If I'd known that sooner, I would have wasted my $$$ on them sooner :)

But seriously, this just looks so mouthwateringly good, with the swords and the angst and the petals...

Also the guy is scarily hot.

Awww, I love this series. It's adapted from one of my favorite wuxia novels ever, and this adaptation is arguably the best yet. No small compliment - the novel is part of a widely venerated trilogy, akin to LoTR in the West, and there have been a truckload of adaptations.

The song in the first fanvid cracks me up. No song test your karaoke mettle like 死了都要愛. Heehee
