That is what upcoming Summer Bubbles (now renamed Summer Desire) should be instead titled as.



I mean, here is the description from the book SD is based on in which our heroine first meets her stepbrother (and eventual boyfriend) translated a bit roughly but still legibly by a kind person on AF:

The young man sat under the blooming oriental cherry tree, his black jade hair had a diluted luster, the skin at the back of his neck meticulous like beautiful china...

"From now on Luo Shi will live with us. He's your older brother, you guys must care and love him, okay?" At dinner time, Dad's chubby face was full of smiles, his right hand patting the back of the youths hand, he said to her brother...

"Luo Shi suffered a lot in the past," Dad painfully looked at the youth, then turned towards her. "So Xiao Mo, you have to be like dad and take good care of your brother."

Yi Xia Mo measured up the youth sitting by dad's side again. His name is Luo Shi, 16 years old. No matter in the school or on television, she's never seen such a pretty boy. His skin is as beautiful as the oriental cherry blossoms in the courtyard, (his) pupils are as pitch black as agate, (his) black hair has a silk gloss, despite his clothes being a little shabby, when he wears them they carry a type of princely boastful nobility.

Luo Shi is also watching her...

When she first saw him, there was that alarming feeling in her heart. Under the blossomed oriental cherry blossom tree, Luo Shi's beauty was like the alluring evil spirits in picture books. He was too beautiful, a youth being like that was a very scary thing.

Ahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Welcome to the house of fakecest! That is what happens when your Daddy randomly shows up at the house with a hot stranger and declares he shall be your adopted older brother. Bwahahaha.

In other news, I am so going to be rooting for stepbrother in this love triangle. As Xiao Mo's other choice is the ex-boyfriend Ou Chen. Seeing that Ou Chen was charming enough to act out his jealousy of his then-gf's getting a hot stepbrother by using his $$$ and influence to pressure Xiao Mo's dad to drop stepbro back at the orphanage, I am already pissed off at him. Who the hell does that? Oh, not to mention that on the way back from dropping off Stepbro, the car got into an accident and Xiao Mo's parents died and her beloved younger brother got horribly injured. Yeah, it's all your fault, jerk of a boyfriend, WTF is wrong with you! Though I am going to really gloat and enjoy if they have the book scene of Ou Chen coming asap to Xiao Mo after all of this and her telling him it's all his fault and how much she hates him and diaf while he is there kneeling begging her forgiveness. YUM. *sluuuuuurp*

*clings* I thought I was the only one! Plus, his face is tremendously weird - it's that nose - it looks like it was squashed by a truck. I do not get the secret of his appeal.

OTOH, HXM? Oh baby! Plus, yeah, Ou Chen sounds like he deserves every bit of angst he gets. Ugh.

Yes! It's his face, there is something tremendously weird about it. I also think Ming Dao has an unusually large head. I also don't get the sexual appeal of Joe Cheng. (I only found him slightly attractive in The Rose, in that episode after he saves Ella's character from the robber who came in the house. And, really that was just a bit.)


In the world of Taiwanese/Chinese Idols, I clearly fail.

I think Ming Dao is hideous. And Joe Cheng - I've only found him attractive in ISWAK but I think it's the character.

OTOH, I think the F4 boys, Mike He, Dylan Guo, and Jiro are genuinely hot :P

Thank you! I thought I was alone in finding Ming Dao unattractive. Joe Cheng was a bit attractive when he was jealous in ISWAK.


OTOH - I will agree with Vic Zhou, Jerry Yan (sometimes, it depends a lot on his hair, oddly), Van Ness Wu, Mike He (again, depends on his hair. I cannot get over that mullet - its too Achey Breaky for me), Dylan Guo, Jiro. Plus, Show (Alan) Lo. Also, a few others, but I don't think they are considered "idols" due to age and past roles.



Can I just say - I kept watching Men and Legends because of Dylan Kuo. I think I was bored with and fast forward through most of Peter Huo's stuff because I find him unattractive. Clearly, I am shallow.

Get out of my brain! I haven't finished M&L yet but yes, I ffed past all the Peter parts and just watched the Dylan ones - I am shallow too, but also I didn't care for Peter's character much.

I like Alan but I don't find him hot (well, maybe occasionally, when he is serious).

Hmmm, who else do I think is hot - Jimmy Lin, Nic Tse, Huang Xiaoming (but I guess the last two are Mainland), occasionally Lee Wei (as long as I don't have to look at his teeth), Wu Zun (a *lil* bit too pretty, but overall very hot). Whoever was that guy in Roseate Love, Wallace Huo (but I guess once again, Mainland), hmmm, who else. I am weird in not finding Hu Ge gorgeous (or to be more accurate, sometimes he is and sometimes he looks freakish).

ETA: Blue Lan (from Outsiders and Easy Fortune Happy Life). OMG, I would soooo hit that if I were single :P

It's like I'm stalking you. I fast forward through Peter's parts. At first I thought it was because his OTP had the world's ugliest hats, but now I think it was just Peter. Dylan was hot in those suits. And, even if his OTP was slightly boring, I'd still rather watch them than look at Peter. (I am slightly shallow.)


Alan is hot when he is angsty or serious. That's why I'm disappointed that he's such a dork (with bad fashion and hair) in Hi, My Sweetheart. I am wanting to see if it improves post-makeover.


Jimmy Lin is hot. Did you know he and his girlfriend had a son recently? I thought that was sweet.


Nic Tse is one of those actors that I don't really find physically attractive, but I love watching him. He falls into my 'Love it, wouldn't hit it.' category. Like, I love to watch him in dramas and think he's a great actor, but in real life, he does nothing for me.


Huang Xiaoming - yes, I agree.


Lee Wei - Again, I have to agree with you. Especially about the teeth.


Wu Zun - he is dangerously close to too pretty. But, I like him.

Wallace Huo - Yes! My sister watched two episodes of Love at First Fight and kept saying he was strange looking. I just thought, You don't understand, he really is attractive!


Hu Ge - Now you are in my head. I really don't find him attractive. Most of the time, he just looks odd to me. But, I've liked his acting style in the past, so I guess he's with Nic Tse.

Blue Lan - Yes!


I really should do a list of actors I love as actors or even as people, but who I really don't find physically attractive. That would be interesting.

I kind of skim the episodes on viiki, but I'll let you know. So far, even without the horrible hair, the show is a bit cheesy. Too idol drama, even for me.


My Lucky Star was the best. One of the first mature idol-dramas I had seen come out of Taiwan.


But, wasn't that Edison Chen stuff before she married Nic Tse? I'd say her taste improved. I heard she's having a second baby. Good for them.


HXM - I will only watch if he gets together with Barbie.

But hey, the other guy sounds like an abusive boyfriend, as per part of summary he was treating her like his doll because she was the one he loved he didn't want anyone to approach her, even her own brother was making her unconfortable...He was a lonely person but after he found her, he wanted her in his life, but he instinctively tried to make her as lonely as he was so that they would only have each other...

I mean, no thanks! That's a typical behavior of a creepy secondary kdrama guy. I am rooting for the stepbro, thanks!
