An ingenious new way to spam

Seems to be to create a journal, friend you so you will click on their LJ to see who they are and then have the sole entry be an advertisement for something.

As in this. Yup, I got friended by this "person."

Did you report them to LJ admin? Doesn't this violate terms of service, as LJ has ways of sucking more money out of commercial accounts...?

I had that happen once only their page was an excerpt from a book or something - a huge paragraph of nonsense.

I've had that happen quite a few times, and I've always reported them. So far, they've always been suspended.

I love that it's Russian spambots I get and I'm not Russian and don't read Russian and couldn't buy a Russian product if I wanted.

I keep getting friended by people who have like, one entry in russian. and then when i don't immediately friend them back, they remove me.

Ugh, spam bots!! You can usually tell they are fake "people" because they have tons of friends, not many mutual friends, no interests on their profile, and then of course the ads in their actually LJ. You should ban the user and then report them as a bot to LJ! It happened to me twice so far. Yucky!

I got friended by a random bot too, and they also got suspended even though I didn't report them. It look less than a day!
