Notorious, Veronica Mars, and some hotness
Aug. 8th, 2006 01:38 pmAlso, have been thinking about Veronica Mars. I am looking forward to the new season and everything, but a part of me isn't...so much. Let me explain. I am sure it will be fun and entertaining and a good show. But the thing is, what I really fell in love with is VM S1, which was a unitary, affecting storyline. It really wasn't a show as much as a complete story in and of itself, like a very long miniseries or an American version of one of those Asian doramas I watch. Complete, sufficient. I enjoyed large parts of S2 and it was a fun season overall, but it was nowhere near the level of S1. It has nothing to do with L/V or Duncan or whatever (S2 had a lot more L/V than did S1). Because the emotional impact, the tight story was gone and done. You could only do it once. And when I hear that the first ep of VM is almost like a pilot for new viewers etc, it just confirms what I think: S3 a fun show but a far cry from what I loved about S1. If you think about it, all of V's demons are gone. Lilly's murder is solved and the murderer is permanently underground. Ditto her rape. At least at the beginning of summer she has a nice, caring boyfriend. She is not the town pariah. Etc etc etc. Veronica Mars, teen sleuth is going to be a fun show. Just not VM S1 I adored.
In more cracktastic news, as I was walking this morning, I thought: Hannah got sent to Vermont boarding school, right? You know who else was sent there? Liz Parker, from Roswell. Did anyone write a cracktastic fic where they met by any chance? Or even cooler, what if Hannah used to watch Roswell? Did she think she was kinda Lizish? Of course, truth being that she is a secondary character in someone else's story but she doesn't know that. And of course she is primary in hers.
And I close with a picture I stole from
( A little eye candy )
